Tricked Out Trends Tracker

If you’ve been spending the past few weeks keeping up with trends, there’s one thing you’ve probably picked up on. Trends will show you the current top 100 terms but really doesn’t help when it comes to showing whether a term is on the rise or fall, how fast it’s moving, or how long its been on the list.

Like you, I’ve been monitoring the trends as well, and it really bothered me that if I had to look away for an hour or so, I’d come back and completely loose track of what what happening with the list. So in a late night fit of frustration, I sat down and put together the basic script that became TrickedOutTrendsTracker.com.

TrickedOutTrendsTracker.com saves you time! And we all know time is money! Here’s a quick list of the features and benefits:

* Of course we start with the basics…the top 100 searched for terms over the past hour, in order, 1 thorough 100.

* Last Rank shows where this term was on the last update and flags new entries into the list with a special icon.

* The Movement (Mvnt) column will show you just how many places up or down this trend word moved since the last update. Movement up the list is shown with a positive number, movement down the list with a negative number. That makes it easier to tell if a trend is coming…or going.

* And to help draw your attention to fast movers, trend words that move up or down more that 20 places during a single update are highlighted, green for upward movement, red for downward. Now its easy to pick out the fast moving trends from the list!

* Then there is the Age column, showing you just how long this trend word has been in the top 100. A big number here means this trend word has some staying power!

* The trend name is linked to the Google Trends detail page so you get quick access to details you need to stay on top of what matters with each trend word.

* And for those of you that are interested in analyzing opportunites with tools like Keyword Elite, TrickedOutTrendsTracker.com has a VERY COOL feature. By clicking on one button, you can get the bare list of trend words, ready to copy and paste into your keyword analysis tool!! That will save TONS of TIME over copying the RSS feed, pasting into notepad…etc…etc…

The good news is I’ve got the app pretty solid now and I’d like to share it with the group. Now, for the bad news…because this is a web app I’m going to need a little help with the Hosting and bandwidth so I’m going to ask for a $7/month subscription through PayPal for everyone who chooses to use the tool.

So here’s the link, there’s a little more information there…but not much. It’s really a simple tool that has saved me HOURS of time already. Take a look and follow the email link on the site if you have any questions!

I made this tool a few weeks back. It doesn’t track changes, but its kind of like the SEO Keyword Tool, but for trends

You made “this tool”? Your tool is no comparison to the one presented in this post. And you look like you’re trying to leech off the attention this post will draw.

      1. Justin on 18.06.2008 at 19:58 (Reply)

        Wow Vinny.

By “This tool” I was referring to my tool, not Vic’s / Thom’s. I’m not discrediting Vic’s tools, but trying to be useful by providing a FREE resource. Seriously, what is your deal. I put the time into learning how to use PHP to scrap a site just so I could make the tool. I made it to help people out with the contest. I’m not even trying to profit off it.

Geez. I put a several hours into learning some new PHP to make a tool I think it is helpful and I get slammed for it.

I getting rather fed up with some of this shit you get from people on this blog. I know Vic’s style is to be harsh, but I’m tired of getting it from everyone on this whole damn site.

I love your blog Vic, but letting people like Vinny slam someone when they were trying to be helpful is BS.

And the whole concept of this blog is to help people who are broke as fuck and don’t have the money to pay $17/month. Some people are struggling to pay their damn bills and come to places like this to learn how to make money. I worked to make a tool to help people in the contest who don’t have enough money to make it to Vegas. I did it in the hopes that it’d help them.

          Justin,

I am not saying this as a direct attack or to offend you. But, when you made the first comment and point a link to your site and it is like you are trying to steal Thom’s thunder.

Your tool is helpful and free, but it doesn’t even come close as to what Thom’s tool offers. The whole point of this tool isn’t for Thom to make a killing of all the “poor and broke BU crowd”.

If you can’t afford it don’t sign up it is as simple as that. This tool uses Thom’s resources and add the time he put into he couldn’t just give this away. Once again, if you can’t afford this don’t buy it.

I have checked the tool out myself and if you use the tool correctly you will gain a huge advantage over someone who isn’t using the tool. And if you hit just 1 good trend because of the advantage of this tool that will more then make up for what you pay for the tool.

Dude, I am not trying to harp on you but you just seem to say the wrong thing at the wrong time a lot. If you were promoting a software or tool and I jumped in on the first comment and said “Hey, I got this free tool here for you use” - you would get more then upset. Your tool doesn’t even do the same thing as Thom’s tool so why bring it up?

          1. Justin on 18.06.2008 at 20:40 (Reply) (Comments won't nest below this level)

            I brought it up because:
            A) It is related to the topic, which is Trends Tools
            B) This is a blog with comments and open discussion is allowed
            C) Some people might not have $17/month to spend right now, so I thought I might provide a helpful tool to at least speed up some aspects of trend research

I did not claim it could do what this tool did. I did not claim it was a replacement. It is a very different type of tool with a different purpose that can work in combination with this tool. I’m not saying Thom is making a ton of money off people. I was simply saying that I’m not trying to benefit from my tool at all.

Vic, please remove my first comment and delete the link to my tool. My intention was to be helpful and its obviously not welcomed.

          2. The Rookie on 18.06.2008 at 21:09 (Reply)

The tool is $7 not $17 to BU readers and it says that right in the post.

          3. Justin on 18.06.2008 at 21:21 (Reply)

Sorry, I was going off the price on the landing page, which is 17. You’re right, the post does say $7. My bad.

          4. Vinny Lingo on 18.06.2008 at 21:11 (Reply)

Justin. I think you need to take a step back. You’re not getting shit from everyone. You’re not even getting shit from anyone. You’re blowing three sentences out of proportion. And you’re trying to assign your own motive to what I was saying. I’m more than happy to see readers of this blog get the help they need.

If pointing out that your comment was in poor taste is “slamming” you, then please, feel slammed. This post is not about “trends tools.” This post is about Thom’s Tricked Out Trends Tracker. If you hadn’t enough sense to realize that your comment would be seen as stealing his thunder, you need to pay more attention.

Please, stop mischaracterizing my intentions. If you’re not capable of being exposed to conflicting points of view without going off the deep end, you need to take a break.

          5. Justin on 18.06.2008 at 21:20 (Reply)

I didn’t think my comment was poor taste, but thats a matter of opinion. I think you’re quick to be an ass to people.

And I agree I need to take a break. I’ve already stepped out of the competition.

I’m open to conflicting views, just tired of them always being from you every time I speak up. I don’t feel like having open war in the comments today.

Like I asked, remove my link, forget I mentioned it. I’m stepping out of the competition to go work on my own business and we can just forget all of this.

Hey guys the tools are supposed to help us people who wants to make money, some will gladly go for the paying kind while others will search high and low for the FOC ones. I belong to the latter group and what Justin said about some people not having the $ is right. Even if it’s just $7/$17. Cos’ many will fail in their quest to make money online, thus we need to be careful about what we spend.

As a side note to Vic, I have been lurking around and there’s lots to read/learn here. Also, your video on expired aged domains opened my eyes WIDE and I found some aged domains which had live sites. But didn’t buy, lol

  2. Vinny Lingo on 18.06.2008 at 19:36 (Reply)

I heartily endorse Thom’s Tricked Out Trends Tracker. It sure makes picking which trends to work a lot easier. I encourage anyone working trends to take a look.

    Hey Vic

Check your email. I sent you an important email. Also dropped the message in the forum for you.

    Thanks
    Justin

  4. Chris Digital Products on 19.06.2008 at 01:36 (Reply)

Vic, I have a very important question to ask you. It’s about registering a domain that is a registered trademark.

I would like to email you about this if you get a chance. IT’s pretty important actually and I would appreciate some expert guidance.

If you can do it, thanks man

    1. Vic on 19.06.2008 at 17:32 (Reply)

I have not received the email.

I apologize if I’m adding fuel to the fire, but I rather appreciate that Justin is sharing his link. I think it’s obvious that Justin is not just trolling these comments for a link back as I have seen him participating in this blog many many times before with helpful insight. It’s also obvious that he is not trying to make any money out of this as his tool is free.

And, yes it probably is nowhere near the usefulness of tricked out trends tracker. But, it’s still free, right? Vic and this blog have always be an advocate for those who cannot afford all the necessary tools off the hop. Especially monthly subscription tools.

Just my two cents. Now, let’s all just be friends. =)

  6. Vic on 19.06.2008 at 17:36 (Reply)

Folks please let’s all step back and relax. I know that this whole thing has build up for a while with Justin because of comments he has made indifferent places.

Now having said that Justin has decided to step back a bit and spend time in his business which I applaud as this is what makes him money.

I am not deleting the link as it is a free tool it is not what Thom’s tools is but it is another tool and it is free and you folks know I am all about free.

Justin has also dropped from the contest, again much of the animosity here has build up over time and I can understand it.

I think he has done the best not only for Justin but also for the rest of the group.

    Now on a side note.

Folks what the fuck are you kidding me here that I have to be the voice of reason and peace?

    LMAO!!!!!

    ;)

      Now I have seen everything…

      I don’t believe it - VIC a referee! hahaha :-)

    2. Justin on 20.06.2008 at 12:17 (Reply)

      Thanks Vic

Yeah, I felt it coming. I’m a vocal and open person on my views. I think people find my statements as me saying I’m against you or disagree with you. Thats far from the truth. I love this blog and love learning stuff from you. I never say you’re “wrong”, just I’m in disagreement with some things. I take all advice and come up with my own conclusion. For example, I made the choice to not buy 100 .info domains at that time. Sometimes my choices have saved me some grief, but more times than not they create grief for me.

But let me just say this to anyone concern.
      *Vic is cool.
      *I like Vic.
      *I like Vic’s blog.
*I think Vic knows his shit.
*I am never disagreeing with Vic.
*Vic and I can see things differently, but that doesn’t mean you should all hate what I say.
*Vic and I are different. I may not want to do something he promotes. It doesn’t mean it doesn’t work, but just that I have a different model.

So even though others hate what I say Vic, I just want you to know it is not personal at all. I still come back every day don’t I? =P
So if you see me disagree, its just on technical SEO / I.M., but never with you. If that makes any sense. I love SEO and love discussing it, debating it, and learning more about it.

Guys, it isn’t a me vs Vic thing.

and hell Vic, and I bet my statements have generated a few 1,000 words of content for you over multiple posts =P
What we’ll do from now on. You make a video, then I’ll say you’re wrong, and then your blog can be completely self generating.

Geez, after reading the comments, I thought for a minute that I landed in the eBay EPN discussion group.

Thanks for the great tool! Looks like a winner!

    @Justin,

Dude, I didn’t get a funny vibe at all from your comment. You have always been very helpful.

You know your shit and it is obvious that you are out to help folks. This animosity BS is BS. I can’t understand why anyone would be upset over the contest or anything.

I’m just saying this to let you know that I think most folks here at Vics blog have ZERO animosity toward you.

I think Vic can take care of himself and his blog –and he doesn’t need a fucking boyfriend (no names) to bark at people who are trying to help.

I have four blogs in my MMO folder…yours is one of them and everyone knows the other three alreay.

Vic apparently respects your opinions as he makes clear on the live channel, therefor so do I.

Don’t let these ultra aggressive types put you off. Your input is valuable especially when you disagree on a fine point with Vic. We all can learn something.

Peace bro and keep fighting the good fight.
