Stumblers Finally Smart Readers
by Vic on December 9, 2007
I have to admit I did not have much experience with StumbleUpon until Blogging Zoom. But wow looking at the stats it seems that Blogging Zoom and StumbleUpon was a match made in heaven. As most of you know by now I am all about stats and results. So while crunching the numbers for Blogging Zoom it was a real eye opener what was StumbleUpon and what was not.
To keep this simple StumbleUpon users are very, very smart people. They tend to StumbleUpon only good quality content and there is no doubt that they are not the Digg.com crowd. They seem to be very very picky about the material they like and they are very unselfish. if they like your material they will take the time to review it.
What this translates to you the blogger. Easy, you really , really want Stumblers as part of your core reader base. Yes you might get 800 quick StumbleUpon hits and when you look at the stats most left the page in seconds but tell you what you really do not need 800 the way the StumbleUpon system is set-up all you need is a super stumbler and your site just got taken to that next level. The huge amount of Stumblers that exit quickly from a website has to do directly with how picky they are about the material they read, trust me folks this is good, a reader who is hard to earn will become a loyal fan and will also be the first to spread your message.
As most of you know I am a genuine Google guy and most of the time it is easy to break down services like Blog Rush and the likes but with StumbleUpon I just can not do that. I believe that what makes StumbleUpon such a strong marketing force is not there system I really think it has to do with the intelligent user base they have acquired.
I feel blessed to have an opportunity to look at the stats of a site like Blogging Zoom with the huge traffic volume it has it makes it easy to look at a week worth of stats and know what works and what does not.
So this is what I have to say to you my dear blogger friends. If you are a StumbleUpon user I take my hat of to you. If you are a blogger with StumbleUpon users as part of your reader base feel blessed and proud my friend because Stumblers are real smart readers.

Joining too many social network sites can be a pain in the you-know-where when it comes time to hop from one to another. It's taking up too much of our time unless one has got nothing better to do. Not to mention those forum hoppers. But if you need to trim down your networking, I can say that StumbleUpon is one of them you can put your money on to drive traffic. Glad you're telling us SU is the way to go, Vic. Of course, we shouldn't forget BZ, too. LOL!
For smart burst traffic it is quite impressive. There will be a day that BZ will be as strong burst as SU. I think what has made such a wonderful match between BZ and SU is the fact that BZ is content driven. As an true marketeer we should always be open to was to drive traffic but when we are just one we sometimes must focus our efforts on the best. For me right now it seems that Blogging Zoom and Stumblers are just perfect together.
You're right. The stumlers are really reading most of the time before they judge.
I don't really like the thinking beeing all about numbers – if you have nothing to say then just don't. If you have something to say, do it and people will read it.
Using SU only as accellerator for more blogviews won't work in the long term.
Especially when it comes to sites that have Adsense Mark. Stats wise it is more then proven that the reader who clicks ads is that one that is searching for one specific thing so you still can not even come close to organic traffic for this.
Well, Vic is absolutely right. And a lot of those Stumblers CAN turn in to actual readers. It is possible. I've seen my Stumble traffic go through the roof since joining BloggingZoom but all of my other numbers have gone up as well. Some of those people are coming back.
Jason Stumblers might be really hard readers to keep but tell you what they are gold just like Blogging Zoom super users.
I really love StumbleUpon. For beginner bloggers there is no better social media site to participate in (well maybe BloggingZoom).
Yesterday, I had over 3,000 visitors from StumbleUpon. While many just come and go, my RSS subscribers did grow by 6% yesterday. Not bad for one day.
