Scrapers Are My Best Friends
In life one of the factors that make some people more successful then others is the ability to use the same rules and circumstances that other had had failure and used that to his or hers advantage. While there are tons of dumb fucking noobs writing “how to report a content thief” post, I am praying I get my feed scraped every day. I love it every time I log in to wordpress and I see 50 trackbacks in my askimet folder.
Content scrapers are my best friends. because every time they scrape my feed they send me back about 12 keyword anchored links to my site. Now I will get a small duplicate content filter penalty if they did not use Synonymizer but content scrapers believe in work smart not hard so most content scraping sites run on autopilot. Most of the time not only do they send me links but also do not give me or themselves a duplicate content penalty.
So the question is how do we do this? Simple first do not publish full feed. Second install Feed Footer in your wordpress blog. You must also have installed Ultimate Tag Warrior and have the option “Automatic Feed Tags” checked. Your done, now your wordpress blog became content scraper friendly.

Scrapers Are My Best Friends | Blogger Unleashed…
Content scrapers are my best friend. I love it when I get a trackback and I visit the site and see my content on his page with ads trying to make money from the same content I worked for who knows that long. The key to success in blogging and in life i…
I did a trackback spam experiment a little while ago. I did 3 consecutive posts on iPhone and each post got picked up by about 10 excerpt style scrapper sites. Of course, I wasn’t using the tag in the footer trick. This wouldn’t work for excerpt content scrapping anyway, would it?
Frank yes it works this what this post is about. Look at my feed it feeds the excerpt and right after the tags for the post. I will show another post later to take advantage of this trick using keywords like you mentioned even though your site has nothing to do about that.
OK, I just looked up your post in Google Blog Search and this is what it looks like in the RSS feed:
So all those tag terms end up in what they put in their abbreviated feed, nice.
Interesting – I guess I never thought of it like that. If it is this obvious, I am wondering why people haven’t blogged about this earlier? I mean getting links and keyword trackbacks for free? Sounds nice but does it degrade the value of the articles?
Brian a link is a link is a link. One of the largest hypocrisies I constantly see is How to Bloggers write how they are not willing to comprise there content for anything. Hey that is great and all of his 20 readers will be glad.
I always say there should be two types of bloggers. The blogger that writes for fun and an has a blog as an avenue to expressing himself and the blogger that does this for money. It is very hard to be in between. I have said it before and I will repeat it again, I love blogging but I love making money more. I do not make decisions about my blogging from the stand of how much I love blogging I make them from the stand of this is a business and what is best for business.
My point Brian is to use all the resources you have ad your grasp. Your content will get scraped you like it or not so why not make them your ally instead of your enemy.
Vic, now I understand why you did that with your feed. In a way, you force us to go to your site too(first guest). I will install the Ultimate Tag Warrior now that I see a use for it for the feed.
P.S. At last, the notify me of follow up is activated
LOL There are different schools of thought on full feed and half feed just like our buddy Grizz says we all have our ways of doing things sometimes they are neither wrong or right, what ever peeps feels works best for them.
LOL yeah I read a review and the blogger said he wished he could subscribe to comments.
Great tips Vic! I find it interesting when I get a trackback that doesn’t even have my name on it. You know, the ones that say “james” wrote this great post…
But, your right, a link is a link, even if it is scraped content.
Elliott always make sure it is a real trackback as you must know there are programs that just spam trackbacks.
Now folks let me say this here because I did not say it on the post.
DO NOT APPROVE SCRAPED CONTENT TRACKBACKS!!!
Just get the link delete the trackback and move on.
Well I dont get 50 but 10-15 seems more and more every day.
Don you should see gadget niches you get scraped like 100 times a day it is crazy.
Vic, I understand the value of a link is a link is a link.
But how do you get the link if you approve the trackback?
Remember that you will not approve the trackback. A trackback is just a ping to your site that some one posted a link from your site. So even though you will not approve the trackback in your wordpress the link will stay where it was posted. I hope this answered your question.
Vic,
We just took your advice and activated the partial feed in our WordPress settings. We also installed UTW and Feed Footer.
We don’t understand what you use the Feed Footer plug-in for as Ultimate Tag Warrior seems to put the tags in your feed for you if you have the “Automatic Feed Tags” setting checked.
Can you clarify what we are supposed to be using Feed Footer for? We are tired and not thinking straight, so maybe we missed it.
Thanks!

Actually Marshall I am a Dumb Ass and my ADD was full blast mmm I forgot to talk about that plugin.
Ok this the deal Ultimate Tag Warrior will only be adding the tags for the post so all those links point to the actual post nothing will go to your index. So I use the Feed Footer plugin for two things one I put tags that point with the keywords that I am working for the home page like in my case one of those would be “Make Money Online” the second is I add a banner again hey if he scrapes my content wrong I just got a banner of my affiliates in his spam page.
The funny thing is mmmm I had not done it for this site LMAO. I am serious I need to get back on my ADD medication LMAO.
Vic,
HELP!!!!
OK, as previously mentioned, we installed the Ultimate Tag Warrior plug-in to Lizard Wisdom. We checked the option “Automatic Feed Tagsâ€. We put tags in the “Tags” section where you write the post in WordPress.
We are only showing a partial feed via Feedburner (checked “summary” for syndication feeds in WordPress under Options>Reading).
We just did a test post and the post is showing as a partial feed in our RSS Reader, but the tags are not showing.
Any idea what we are doing wrong? (We don’t have Feed Footer activated as it isn’t used in this process).
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as usual.
-Marshal
Geez, I am so bent out of shape I can’t even spell my own name! LMAO
-Marshall
Lizard :
I did not installed UTW yet but I my feed is still showing full. I did went to Options>Reading checked Summary. Now, did I saved the options or did I need to go somewhere else in Feedburner too?
Thanks
Steve,
We looked forever in Feedburner until we did a Google search for partial feed and remembered/realized that this was a function of WordPress, not Feedburner.
We did exactly what you explained and your new posts are showing a partial feed. Your old posts will still show the entire post.
Have you posted anything new since you changed the WordPress setting to “Summary”?
-Marshall
Yes, this morning and I’m 90% sure that I saved the settings. I will see in the next post because I’m 100% now.
I did search Feedburner too but ask just in case I missed it. :p
Marshall that is weird mmm turn on FeedFooter and see make a test post and see what happens. Bur both are separate plugins so it should not matter that is weird what wordpress version and are you using a compatible UTW plugin?
Vic,
We are using WordPress 2.2.3. I noticed you are using 2.3.1.
Ultimate Tag Warrior says it isn’t compatible with WordPress 2.3+. There are “WordPress Things” that they have instead. Whatever those are…
WordPress 2.3 has tagging built in, so do you actually have to use Ultimate Tag Warrior, or is the capability built into WordPress now?
I was thinking of upgrading to WordPress 2.3 today. Hope there will be no issues with our theme!
Marshall
I use full feeds, but I also use alot of internal links, so I can choose what articles of mine get linked. On top of that, I also use a related articles in feed plugin, so I automaticly get 5 links with each scrape.
Feed Footer is indeed the bomb. You can do tons of things with it!

Vic,
Thanks for sharing this because up until now I hadn’t been doing any of this and it was starting to be a pain.
Must go and test it out.
Appreciated,
