Local Niche Bloggers Support Group
By Vic on Jan 15, 2008 in Niche Blogging
Folks I am about 70% and find myself limited to the time I can spend in front of a computer. Take into consideration the time both Court and me spend on Blogging Zoom a day and the other 200 sites I own and you must understand that my days are very complicated. Plus having four kids and 18 year old in college folks I need to make sure daddy brings home the bacon cause college is expensive LMAO. So I also need to take time to tend my sites and as I was taking to Justin a few days ago that currently I have about 20 PR3 domains that are just sitting because I have not had the time to at least put up a BANS site.
My point folks I need al the niche bloggers to start helping each other starting today. I have set up a forum that will be for the local niche bloggers to use to place questions now we have a few of the new bloggers that are new to the whole process so they may have some noob question. Please folks come and look at the forums a couple of times a day just like me and Court will do to help answer questions. The faster a blogger has his doubt taken care of he can continue his progress and we want to make sure that we move forward as fast as possible.
Now Court and me had made two sites to help bloggers we had not released them because we where running some test and lack of time but some time this week I will point you toward the sites. One is an Article Directory that we will let you put 3 anchored links. Now this Article Directory will be only for bloggers so the quality of the material will be highly monitored in other words we want to make sure that Google gives you the best juice possible for your anchored links. Many article directories are worthless due to the many affiliate shit articles and Google considers this almost as spam so the links are really not that good. The second is a bit cooler as it is a sort of Local Niche Blogger Association where we will use just one page which currently holds a PR3 and we will use it for all the local niche bloggers giving you an anchored PR3 legit link to your index of your local niche blog.
We need to figure out a way to get all of you local niche bloggers to communicate in a group setting where you can help each other. Folks this is crucial because you folks need to support each other like it is the last day of the world. You folks need to comment on each others blog as much as possible remember Google loves activity on a page so the more you support each other the more all of you will gain authority and raise in SERPS.
I was thinking that you should make sure you have added each other on Blogging Zoom as friends and make sure you support each other by Zooming your submissions. Remember since you will have the Blogging Zoom button on your blog you want it to have as many Zooms as possible give your blog and story more authority. Now I was speaking with Monika yesterday we have many cool things coming for Blogging Zoom including a complete new look and you will have a much prettier Zoom button on your page plus it will be made Ajax so when people visit your post if they are already registered to Blogging Zoom they will not have to leave your age to Zoom your post, they will just click on th button and the number will change. Also support your buddies submissions in BZ by commenting.
In other words folks starting today start adding each other as fiends at Blogging Zoom and start using the messaging system to communicate with each other. Make a tight group folks make it the local niche bloggers against the rest the more of you he stronger and faster you will all grow.
If you are a local niche blog in Australia make a post about your friend who has a local niche blog in New York folks think about this when some one flies from AU to NY do you think it would be beneficial to have a site to go to learn about the place and see from areal local point of view information on restaurants and the likes and now this opens the window for more local advertising on your blog. And the same thing goes from NY to AU.
As many of you have noticed one of the things I am constantly reminding everybody is to work together. The more friends you folks make with each other the faster all of you grow.
On a side note folks please if you are schedule to talk to me one on one please have Skype installed and try to have either a head set or Skype phone it cuts my time to half. And no worries I do not bite you can ask Monika or Elliot.

Sounds good!
I do need to sign-up for BloggingZoom, but that will be on my to-do list this week.
Geezzz Sucker I can not believe you have not used Blogging Zoom yet. Come on now register today you will meet really cool folks you will see for networking it is awesome.
Vic,
Sorry to hear that you are only up to 70%! We hope that you start to feel much better soon.
-Marshall
Look forward to talking to you folks today
thanks for helping out
My pleasure buddy.
I can attest to the fact that Vic doesn’t bite, at least not to hard! lol
Great point Vic about hooking up and sharing the love amongst ourselves.
What would anyone think of a secured page run by me that if you submit your local niche site URL and your BZ username, I can add them to this page as a reference for other people to check them out?
Would this work or no?
Sounds good to me Elliot. Just getting our framework off the ground. Bad timing though as my box at Blue Host is messed up . MySql issues. This week we’ll get this site movin’..looking forward to the whole thing.
Bruce,
If you are looking for a reliable shared Hosting plan, I have been using host monster for lots of my niche sites and they have been great!
You can find out more on my blog (would appreciate the affiliate sale…shameless plug)
Elliott,
I think this is a great idea. Having a page were we can all get each others details. I’ll be over on your blog in a minute.
Vic,
Great idea and you are so right. I can also attest to the fact that Vic is really nice. He hasn’t sworn once whilst talking to me on several occasion.
Griz,
Sounds like you are having fun up there with your ADSL bears uuhm…kids LMAO
Hi Vic,
Great idea to leverage your time with a forum. I’m in.
Thanks again … I appreciate what you’re doing.
Todd
Vic,
Excellent idea on the local niche blog - I’ve already registered my domain, getting it setup and the ideas for posts are just flowing! Fantastic to have a forum and great to be starting at the ’start’ with everyone else.
I’ve already started. Having to troll bloggingzoom for other local niche posts to zoom and comment on. A focused site about this will be a HUGE help.
I posted some of my thoughts over in the forum. Thanks for helping facilitate building this community!
Ok everyone!
I have talked to Vic and I am going to go with setting up a page on my site to allow us to quickly keep track of each others sites, and BZ usernames.
I am working on a post detailing the specifics of this and getting the site ready.
It will be published late tonight (thank god for timestamp!).
With Vic’s health and schedule, I want to be able to give back to the community and help Vic out so he can get better quicker! If you have any questions, advice or comments of things you would like to see before this page goes live, head over to my site at http://www.blogexplosion.net and use the contact form to let me know.
THanks!
That sounds like a great idea … lol, it will be much easier to help each other, if we can actually find each other.
Thanks Elliot
Nice one Elliott,
Todd’s right how would we have found each other otherwise! I take possession of my domain on the 19th all being well, so I’ll be getting busy then. I’ll check back tomorrow and put what I’ve got on your page.
Terry
I just had a wickedly funny thought - I wonder what local community Grizz would be serving out there in his log cabin?
How many bears do YOU know have ADSL and need tickets to the local ball game…
Only joking Grizz LMAO!!!
PS: At least you got bears, all I got on my mountain farm are almond trees and tree rats and they don’t have ADSL… hahahahaha!!!
There might only be a few bears, but think how many salmon will be clicking the adsense ads!
I’ll have you jokers know that my community has a whopping total of 52 people in it (16 are kids) and a local blog couldn’t keep up with our town gossip queen.
lmao
LMAO sixteen kids AND a gossip queen! How could anyone go up against those odds?
Elliott,
I also suggest that we exchange links on our blogs, as soon as the blog is live. I’m ready to do this now and will list them under my “featured” section which is a renamed blogroll.
I’m thinking naming the link after city, township with the country name behind so that our visitors can see fast what the link is about.
Example my blog link would be “Yeppoon Australia”
This will also add link juice keyword strength and link juice to our niche blogs.
What do you all think?
Good idea Monika (and Elliot - I’ll keep you in mind if I have any more Hosting issues - but so far they’ve been decent).
Problem: what if there are 200 of us. I guess we can each add 3 towns to our blogroll?
Monika,
The only problem I see is if we all try to promote each others local niche blogs with the blogroll, we will end up missing someone, and each of us doing just three, I don’t think is really practical.
I’m wondering if writing a post about each would be better? Maybe I’m nuts, but it would have to be real long, just something like “If your going to xy town, you need to read the xy news gazzetter postie knowitall blog” (lol).
Just a thought if it would be easier.
@Monika - Thats a great idea, rather than have useless links on the blogroll.
Of all the local niche blog i have visited from this, yours is the most mature.
I particularly like your About page and Featured Link. You really thought this through. Do you mind if I use this blog as a template reference for my niche blog?
Mine just go online : JurongWestDigest.com
I will be looking for all the local niche blogs here and add them to my feeds in google reader, so that I can help to comment on new updates in these local niche blog.
My way of giving back to this community.
@bmunch,
Thank you for the nice comment. No, I don’t mind if you use some of my ideas. After all, we all live in different areas of the world so there is no chance of duplication.
So far I only spent some parts of a day on my blog and I admit I do forget time when I create and write. LOL. Just spend 5 hours writing for a client and now moving on to another. And then there is the blogging, niches etc.
The day never ends.
[...] problem Vic outlined in his post Local Niche Bloggers Support Group is that he is battling some health issues, plus his family life, running numerous site, taking car [...]
lol - I guess it is a small but important distinction to make between being someone who ‘bites’ and being someone ‘with bite’.
I guess that Blogging Zoom is now on the list of things to do for my future success. My how that list is growing, Vic, and it’s all your fault…
LMAO well I just hope it gives you some results. And trust me I know the feeling. Look forward to seeing you at BZ
Is it just me or are the forums down? Every link refreshes the forum main page, in IE and Fox.
I have my blog up and running and posting daily. But the blog strcture itself needs some work. With a support group this is going to be so helpful. I still haven’t narrowed my niche but atleast I am getting the blog going.
Vic, I am planning on looking intp Skype this weekend to get it running. With my long working hours away from home and working on blogs there just isn’t enough hours in the day at the moment. I know nothing about Skpe so I will have to get educated.
I really appreciate everyones help here.
Denise,
Skype is easy to install and get running, you just need the headset/microphone combination or some other way to talk and listen.
Works really well too!
Thanks Elliot!
Just caught up on this idea and it sounds great. Count me in. I’m giving some thought to my domain name, don’t want to rush it and get it wrong! I’m in very touristy part of the world and a quick check on keywords for the main city here looks pretty good. I’ll be joining you guys as soon as I have something set up.
Janet welcome. Notice the forum to support you folks and make sure you go to Elliots site he will be helping me with the support.
Janet,
Welcome! Let me know if I can help, and once you are ready, submit your site to the support group page and I’ll put it on there.
I have just joined Blogging Zoom and think it’s quite good, I have added Monica and Terry to my friends as soon as I found them on there.
Just one question, I downloaded the plugin and uploaded it to my plugin folder then I went in and activated it, but I do not have the zoom button on my post, have I missed something?
In WP’s Write Post screen, Code tab, you should see a ‘BloggingZoom’ button on right end of the post menu bar, which will insert the icon at the cursor’s position. On a new post you may need to type something first and click ‘Save and Continue Editing’ for the menu button to appear.
The other way is to type in
into your post’s html.…type into your post’s html:
..try again..
bloggingzoom between php comment tags (which won’t show up here!)
Thanks Mirol
I will give that a go
Hi Shezz, glad you made it here! I put some info about this on my forum too.
Thanks Terry
I will head over to the forum today
[...] Are you an active user of Blogging Zoom? If you answered yes to that question, then you’ve probably already heard of the Local Niche Challenge Project. [...]
Vic,
I found your site via Monika at http://www.thewritersmanifesto.com
and I spent all day reading and watching your videos. I am addicted to your exposing of the blogospheres truthiness, and to your tips which I am putting to use now onto my blogs.
I am also moving to Newfoundland which I am planning on blogging about so am loving this local niche thread. Perfect timing.
Yeah, I want to join your support group. Has there been any recent activity?
