Adsense Niche Case Study
By Vic on Jan 1, 2008 in Niche Blogging
This example is a bit different then Court, first this is a pre-owned domain and it is aged so it will not get sent to sandbox but instead it is a domain that was used for spam and it is not indexed and I could not get it indexed the traditional way so I will be asking Google for re-inclusion.
Now the keywords I will be working are:
1. the way to trade forex
2. how to trade the forex
3. learn to trade the forex
As you see all three keywords have my domain in them so I am going full blast niche here. Now I have chosen to show you guys the actual domain since I am not using Adsense on it but again this is an Adsense niche with CPC as high as $50 so this would be an Adsense niche all day long.
So we are clear the reason I decided to show you this is so you can better visualize working the domain, please do not publish your domains at this site if you will be using Adsense people are assholes and we do not want someone fucking with your Adsense.
Once I have shown you folks that even with a banned domain in a serious hard niche you can still work it,I will probably give away this domain and site in a contest.
Now folks I will tell you why I decided to buy this domain even though it was blacklisted. Simple it is a 3 year old domain that has branding written all over it. It is just a pretty domain name with keywords in it. Their not that many left and many of the domains that have sweet names you will find have been used for spam. But if you know what to do you can get that same domain a noob would never get indexed and not only get indexed but get it up the SERPS. Will it be easy, fuck no doing the math this may be a 6 month project but again I have said before their is no magic bullet just solid fundamentals is what makes things happen.
Court and me do the same thing over and over and over everyday sometimes days pass and Court and me do not chat or talk because we are both knee deep in doing what we have to do. Is it boring hell yes, do we have to do, it hell yes.
An Adsense niche must be work as such from day one. You should never start a site and then figure out monetization, you should always first chose the monetization and build the site around that unless of course you are going for all out traffic in hot daily topics then it is a crap shoot.
This is the domain I will be working:
Domain Name: TRADETHEFOREX.COM
Created on: 17-Nov-04
Expires on: 17-Nov-08
As you will see right now all it has is a standard wordpress install. I wanted you folks to see that I am starting this site from scratch. Starting the 2nd you will start seeing content and the change.

Sounds awesome, Vic. I can’t wait to see the progress and see it develop. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge.
Tay think one of the important things of this test is so peeps know they can buy a blacklisted domain and get in back in the good grace of Google.
Vic,
This post is a godsend and I actually have some urgent questions I’d like to ask you that tie in exactly with this.
Here is the scenario: I found a domain that has been registered since June 04 and expires in June 08. It is for sale right now at $50 buy now. The domain contains an exact keyword that has 2,500 searches a day and pays around $46 in CPC. It has 0 PR and 0 Alexa index.
The top 4 organic placement in Google for the same keywords have PR 4, PR4, PR0 and PR 4 but none of these sites currently use adsense to monetize.
My feeling says it could be a killer if I manage to snipe top placement and since non of the others use adsense it indicates to me, that they have no idea how much money there is to be made in the niche.
Please tell me whether I should run with it or not.
BUY IT RIGHT NOW!!! We will get it back to the good list
Monika,
Two questions. How did you find the domain and how did you find out the CPC for it?
Thanks,
MIke
Hi Mike,
I used https://adwords.google.com/select/trafficestimatorsandbox
to research the estimation of the CPC and finding the keyword was really down to just trying with some ideas I had in mind and then checking to see how many searches per day each keyword gets.
I use http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com for this but have just bought “Keyword Elite“.
I figured investing into a decent software will be beneficial to my efforts.
Thanks Monika! How did you find the domain?
Hi Mike,
Once I knew the keyword that has potential I went to tdnam and searched for that keyword. It spit out some domains that are either for sale, on auction or expired, etc. I then checked each one for PR, length of registration and potential.
That is how I found it. Hopefully that makes sense.
Thanks a bunch Monika!
On another note, the domain might be blacklisted too, but since you are leading with this example I should be able to get it re-approved too I guess.
Yup this is why I am doing this
Hey Vic,
I bought it and I also double checked the blacklisting issue on WhoIsDomain Tools and it comes through as NOT blacklisted and working.
Wooohooo… thank you I can’t wait for this next step and will build the new domain with your guidance. I also use Courts keyword snipping theme as soon as I take ownership.
Awesome! I still have a domain which I am hoping to start after I put enough article in the one I mentioned to you earlier.
Now I have some sort of a step by step guide. I hope what you do can be applied to a brand new blog as well.
Monika I just used that adwords cpc estimator you gave a link for and I can’t find anything with $40 clicks. I tried a couple. Forex was in the $4 range. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or what.
This from Key Word Country the actual keywords are masked so you buy the service but it gives you an idea. Also keep in mind that adword competition changes daily.

Vic,
How long does it normally take for me to take ownership when I buy a domain at tdnam? I still haven’t got the first one I bought before Xmas and I wonder whether there is a procedure I have to follow after paying for it.
They have an “email the seller” feature which I used but haven’t heard from either of them so far. Do I have to click on anything to transfer the domain to my account, or does this happen automatically?
Vic,
I am curious too, as I have put two different bids in, and would like to know ahead of time.
Thanks,
Mike
Monika,
It looks kind of sketchy. I just got a confirmation email stating that the owner still has the option to renew his/her domain, at that point they contact you and give you a refund. I don’t see why the current owner would renew, but that sucks.
Mike
Monika was a buy now or was an auction for a domain owned by another person. Mike this applies to you to because if it is owned by another person it is a different ballgame.
I think they were auctions
Mike I will send you an email see if we can talk on the phone.
I would appreciate it kind sir
Hi Vic,
Both these domains were buy now.
Vic, this morning I purchased a pre owned domain, Didnt you mention something about Go Daddy as far as using them for a host?
Hey Don,
I use GoDaddy for domains only I have been using Host Gator for niches.
So you buy them and transfer them?
Don when you take ownership go to manage domains and change the dns to who ever you will hosted with. That should be it you will still manage the domain with GoDaddy but the actual Hosting you do it with who ever is giving you the best deal.
cool thanks , going to buy a few more today, lol
Monika,
Did you find anymore out about the domains you bought? I did. Like Vic said; if it’s not a “buy now” purchase, you have to wait the total amount of days it shows whether it’s a bid or an offer. I did two of these. One is a 9 day wait, the other is a 39 day wait
Hi Mike,
No, I didn’t find out anything. Both domains were “buy now” and I haven’t got them in my account yet. The first I bought before Xmas and the other one a couple of days ago.
I’d hate to think I had to wait too long.
