Positive Attitude
By Vic on Jul 12, 2008 in Motivational
In his book The Winning Attitude, John C. Maxwell, noted author and speaker tells us that attitude is:
The “advance man” of our true selves
Has inward roots but outward fruits
Is our best friend or worst enemy
Is more honest and more consistent than our words
Is an outward look based on past experiences
Is a think which draws people to us or repels them
Is never content until it is expressed
Is the librarian of our past
Is the speaker of our present
Is the prophet of our future
Your attitude, or your willingness to think positively, affects many people—from your family to the stranger you smile at in the grocery store. An optimist will see opportunity in difficulties, while a pessimist will see difficulty in opportunities.
You must choose which you will focus on: if you choose poorly, you will doom yourself to never achieving your goals and being successful. Count on that.
So how do you begin to think positively if you’re a natural pessimist? I don’t really believe there ARE natural pessimists, just people who have been taught how to consider the darkest side of every cloud.
You cannot change the fact that a problem exists, but you can do a lot to determine what opportunity is within that problem. Begin to see that problems are a fact of life and that your job is to find a way over, around, under, or through them—as quickly as possible. When you’re upbeat and consider how quickly a problem will be behind you, it’s easy to be optimistic.
Cynicism is another killer when it comes to attitude. It’s a cousin of pessimism—it considers everything suspect and everyone as having an ulterior motive. It never looks at someone handing you a piece of candy just to be nice, it always considers that there is a reason you’re being handed the candy and the motivation of the person who’s giving it.
Cynicism comes from having unrealistic expectations. Many people expect great and wonderful things to happen to them with little-to-no work on their parts. They expect things to fall from the sky in to their laps. When it doesn’t happen as they expect, they become suspicious of others who have achieved success and ultimately, cynical.
You must harness the power of your thoughts and words when setting your course for success. Use positive affirmations daily: remind yourself that a stumbling block is temporary and that you will overcome it; admit to yourself that you are courageous and able to move on when others cannot; agree with your vision for your life and your goals.
As you discipline yourself to do this, you will find optimism and positive thinking chasing you down the street. And who couldn’t use these two friends when we’re aiming for success?

Hi Vic,
This has alot to do with the book “The Secret” and some other new age thinking, “The Law of Attraction: The Teaching of Abraham” and the Power of Intention…
While I think some people just think that if they think it, it will come, I think it has all to do with what you choose to focus on.
If you are focusing on how to solve the problem, and what CAN be done instead of what CAN’T be done, then you actually take action, then you can see amazing results.
It all starts in your thoughts, but you do have to take the appropriate consistent action. Some other older but good books I’ve read are “The Magic of Thinking Big” by David Schwartz, and “What you Say When you Talk to Yourself” by Shad Helmstetter.
But…you still gotta take the action!
I agree completely with Matt. Sadly, too many believe they can simply think their way to success. It’s certainly and important step to have the right frame of mind and to do visualization.
This prepares you to take the needed actions. For one thing, it would be silly to even try something that you don’t think is possible. Then there is the fact that it should inspire you to action.
When you focus on a goal, and believe that it is achievable, you will feel compelled to take the necessary actions to move closer to that goal. If all you see in your mind is failure, you will simply give up at the first obstacle. If you visualize and believe in success, you will say, “Ok, that didn’t work. What else can I try?” You will persevere.
The thinking process is crucial, but so is the action process. Neither can be ignored. The visualization leads to the action, but visualizing alone will accomplish zero.
So well said but the facts are most people are really good when it comes to making a game plan following it is the part they fail. But at the end of the day it is all about mindset and what you are willing to sacrifice to achieve the goal.
There are many thinkers in this world but not many doers. Most people are passengers in life instead of drivers.
Hi Vic, Very well put. I could kick the butts of some of these people who’ve taught folk to be cynical and pessimistic.
I was talking to someone the other day - really nice, friendly person - but so cynical. I was telling them about a soul reading I’d had and how great it made me feel. Their first words were - “I’m a bit cynical about things like that….” I was like - fine, take your cynicism somewhere else - I don’t need it.
The trouble is with cynics, you start to avoid telling them about anything good or positive because they’re always so suspicious.
I suspect that essentially people are born or brought up as optimists or pessimists. I’ve always been an optimist and a cynic which I think is the perfect combo to approach the MMO scene: its certainly saved me $1000 in “investing” in ebooks and courses LOL!
I’ll admit that my optimism has taken a beating off late as rules appear to be again changing with the google Gods - but I’m over that now! Though I do think I like Adsense better than eBay: at least with Adsense I can make a few cents - whereas with eBay I appear to be able to get 100’s of clicks and no sales: I guess most people do a lot of looking on eBay before they buy
The way I look at it is if you do not have the mindset that you are a winner and that you will win you are dead and even have not left the gate.
Vic,
Problems are just opportunities for us to grow. If there never were problems to solve then there would be no reason to grow.
We are on this earth to grow mentally, physically and spiritually.
A problem can open doors one never knew existed.
Imagine if life was not hard it would be boring as fuck LMAO!!
I have had some people in my life whom I have come to refer to as my “rainclouds.” No matter how upbeat and positive I was, they found a way to point out the negative. It got to the point where I could not be with either of them for more than two hours at a time. I had to set limits. It was getting depressing being around them.
I wonder if those friends sometimes got tired of being around little Miss Sunshine?
You, Mr. Vic, are a ray of sunshine in my life. Keep those positive messages coming! I will gladly receive.
I am scrambling trying to keep up with housework, homeschooling our two children, and implementing the first section of information I have received from Blogger Unleashed. It is all important and I am trying to keep balance. I refuse to let go of any of it.
Efforts in all areas are paying off. The house has a small semblance of order, I am spending time playing with and teaching the kids, and I am getting the BANS work done.
Money is coming in, in spite of all the BANS tasks not having been completed yet. If I had not found you, Vic, I would be one of the confused souls over at the BANS forum asking for a site review, wondering why I was not making any money. My site would be huge, based on a category tree, it would be pretty, and it would have ads. And I would have no idea why it was not working.
But I am getting the work done. I have a huge checklist and I am getting it done and checking it off. 12 BANS up, three more to follow before I have to go buy another pre-owned domain. Friends at BU TV are there to help answer questions. That is very helpful to a newbie like me.
Vic, you are one special person.
And now I am going to go get some more anchored links…
Diane you always bring a smile to my face for this bless you so much. I am trying to setup a mini site tutorial cuz I want you folks to diversify this is why I launch today the eboock cover site I will also launch mini-site templates to make it easy and cheap for you folks to get started it is important not to lock ourselves with one affiliate. It is such an amazing thing when in a month you receive different checks from different affiliates.
And always remember the same basic techniques apply across all the different things we do it is all about the links
Vic, did you use the time off to work on your spelling and grammar?
Just a bit of magic LMAO!!
I remember watching a TV show some years ago about luck and what make someone lucky or not.
One of the tests they did was ask a bunch of people the following question:-
“Imagine you are in a bank and an armed robber comes in and shoots you in the arm. Is that lucky or unlucky?”
Some of the people said that it was unlucky because being shot in the arm is a terrible thing to happen.
However there were other people who said that they would be lucky for only being shot in the arm and that it could have been much worse.
The same thing applies to the likes of the .info + BANS deindexing. OK, so it’s not fun, but I consider myself lucky that MSN and Yahoo send me traffic which converts into money.
Anyway, I need to get to bed so that I can be refreshed for doing lots of money making tomorrow.
April
You are so right it goes to the half full looking at life way of living. The way I look at it is I rather have one buyer to 500 lookers so hey can not get traffic from Google but still rank top position from the same keyword in msn or yahoo shit it is all good LMAO!!
