5 Secrets To Have Success

Develop these 5 attributes of a successful person, and you will find yourself moving quickly toward your goals in life!

Thick Skin: you cannot be easily offended or hurt if you want to be successful. There will always be people who are jealous or envious or out to bring someone else down—you must develop a way to see past that and let it roll off your back, like “water off a duck’s back.”

Ducks have feathers that are tight and their density act like oil—it keeps the duck dry and warm. So when water (cold or otherwise) lands on the back of a duck, it simply rolls off. Let criticism roll off your back in a similar manner—because if you are going to be successful, you will have your share of criticism. Count on it.

Obedience: although this might seem strange to talk about to adults and not children, it is important to consider that in order to be a leader; you must first learn how to obey a leader. You must learn the principle of loyalty to a leader if you want to lead others.

Once you have learned how to obey and to follow directions, you can lead others and understand what commands and orders do for an organization and an individual. Consider this: 175 of the CEOs of Fortune 500 companies are former US Marines, and 27 US Presidents served in the military.

300X250

Courage: bravery is not courage, but you cannot have courage without being brave. Courage is the moral fortitude to stand up for your character and to do the right thing—even in the face of adversity.

When you have courage, you follow through on your vision. It’s on display every day and only the courageous have the ability to get the most out of life. When you have the strength of your conviction, find the courage to put it in to action. You won’t be sorry you did.

Intolerance: not exactly what you might expect to find in an article about success, but each of us must be intolerant of any number of things: intolerant of abuse, of injustice, of the things that you know are immoral, unethical, or illegal. If there’s anything in this world you should be intolerant of, those are some of them. I hope you are an intolerant person—in the right way.

Sense of Humour:
if you don’t have a sense of humor, you will fall flat on your face and never be someone who succeeds. A good portion of the road we walk to success is filled with blockades and potholes. If you come up against one and go down, you must have the ability to laugh at the situation and yourself. If you don’t, you will be angry and bitter about your misfortune and never move past it. Laugh at yourself and what you run up against and you’ll find your climb to the top is quicker and more enjoyable than you thought it would be.

You said a mouthful here Vic and I really agree with you whole heartedly… With out Discipline with have nothing.. that is what the Military teaches us.. to follow rules without questions.. I was in the Army I know and remember very much. You are true leader and I respect that. Thanks Vic

I think one o the biggest problems I have found with teaching people the business is the serious lack of discipline and the total inability to follow instructions.

I consistently find people complaining of results then I ask them what have they done and the two most consistent answers is nothing or they just did what they though was a better way LMAO!!! Geezzz!!!

Great topic! Without these qualities failure is sure to loom on your heels. I know that sense I started to follow your blog I have learned to be a more sincere marketer. You have motivated me personally in ways other than just making money online. I am a much better person in my personal life and my professional life.

When a person shows their heart you can see their true integrety and I think due to the videos you use your heart shows thru your actions. That is why I believe that you have the ability to motivate people to do and be better marketers. We are not just making money online anymore we are speaking truths that other marketers are afraid to speak. You have given use the courage to stand up for what is right and what will not be tolerated.

You are a leader that I choose to follow and will continue to do the steps you recommend. Even with the hurdles placed in front of me I am still a believer in my ability to succeed not only in making money online but in my personal battles as well.

Making money online is more a bi-product of how we are as individuals and the karma footprints we leave in our lives.

Girl the key to this business is not to give up!!!! Just keep pushing forward the problem with the 95% people that fail in this business is because they came in after reading a shit ebook on how they would sit in the beach and make tons of money in 30 days after starting a fucking blog. And of course sure enough they replicate what they see and start and “MMO” so they kind of guaranteed them selfs a sure failure from the beginning. But once you understand the basics then it is just a matter of time and persistence. The most important things to understand is the more niches you work and the more positions one terms you control in Google the more money you make.

      So never quit!!!!

      Love

      Vic

What is the use of having an online business with recurring income if you do not take advantage of the time.

I’m not a CEO of a Fortune 500 company, but I *am* a former US Marine (retired actually).

    Awesome post, Vic.

I have always said military should be mandatory at least a 2 year term. It teaches you character, leadership and to learn to take instructions and it an asset. Of course not all of us that have been in the military learn those traits but over all I think so.

      1. Irene on 19.07.2008 at 03:53 (Reply)

Good to see you back Vic. Missed you, then I’ve been amiss because I’ve been driving 3500km out to St. John’s Newfoundland, from Toronto. Moving to find the good life - more living and enjoying, and the nicest people in the world. Not to mention fresh seafood :)

Yeah - I hear ya on commitment, and on following your instructions. It’s mind blowing eh? I have really learned a lot about myself - by studying my own resistance to following your instructions. This resistance thing - it’s a fascinating topic.

As for your comment on the the military, try martial arts instead. It’s not too late, and anyone can do it. I just got my second degree black belt in taekwondo. There were 10 of us over the age of 40 testing this year, and one student was 63. I started at 38 and I looovvvve it. Great work out, great energy, great discipline, great leadership training and super respectful to all. I have met the greatest people doing it. And it’s super fun kicking the pads and making big noise. Being strong has also had lots of advantages - especially hauling heavy moving boxes. HAHA.

Thanks for not giving up on us - and I love it when you call us out for our “inconsistencies.”

Vic, nice to see your post. I have been hard at work and I hope you are getting lots of rest, time with your family, and time to take care of the sites that make you money. I continue to apply what I have learned from you, and my income is increasing. Thank you so much for your generosity in freely giving out information that benefits us.

    1. Vic on 12.07.2008 at 16:12 (Reply)

I look forward to getting back i the horse in afew and hopefully spending some time with you and a few others.

      ;)

Great post, and the thick skin part is definitely true. It’s sad how many losers have nothing better to do than go around insulting people, but hey, that’s one less competitor for the rest of us :)

    1. Vic on 12.07.2008 at 16:13 (Reply)

I guess this would apply to me LMAO!!! But then again the truth is always the truth ;)

  7. Emma on 12.07.2008 at 15:32 (Reply)

Vic, it’s so nice to hear from you. I hope your feeling better, we all really miss you. I’ve learned so much from you and I love your motivating pep talks. Take your time and get better and work on your business. Think of having this network as a bonus not a burden. Don’t let the stress get to you and come back and chat when you want to, not because you feel you have to. Take care, big guy.

    1. Vic on 12.07.2008 at 16:15 (Reply)

      Thanks Emma!!

I have had some talks with Don this week and I promised I am not going back to the 20 hour days and not drinking my meds.

From now on it is all about following my doctors advice and just enjoying life.

      ;)

Vic. Nice to hear your alright. Hope everything with you is great. Best of luck.

  8. Steve McGrath on 12.07.2008 at 16:48 (Reply)

Great points in that post. I was not in the military but was a cadet(army) for one year. I know, it’s not the same but you still learn discipline.

Btw, it’s cool that you take time for you and not the business.

    You could add:
    6. Enjoy life too or it will pass you by.

    7. Listen to you wife and doc :D

I presumed that your schedule to retire in 24 months will have to wait for a few more years then. It’s not that bad and consider that like a pre-retirement training. ;)

    1. Vic on 12.07.2008 at 18:18 (Reply)

      Thanks Steve

No my retiemnt is still on its way just will be with less cash i the bank but hey the sites will stl produce so hopefully all will e good.

    Hey Vic,

Good to see you around! Agreed on your 5 traits for success…my current work boss, has all those traits, and he, is very successful. We sometimes joke that he is soooo structured and religious in his work and methods, but he was the one who was retired at 37, and came to be our CEO due to boredom!

You know, one thing I think it seems like we may need to look at too is balance…seems like everytime we push ourselves too hard, thinking we can get the time back in the future, it back fires… maybe part of why you have to stop the 20 hour days…

Gotta push, buy also take the time to “sharpen the saw” as Stephen Covey puts it!

Please take care, and I really hope to see you back soon…

Although I’ve recently started posting, for the month and a half of following your advice, I’m seeing the result.

    Thanks-

    Matt

    1. Vic on 12.07.2008 at 18:20 (Reply)

Sometimes it is so hard to have balance. This is what gets me in trouble Is either work full blast or do nothing like the past weeks LMAO!!!

  10. DennisJr on 12.07.2008 at 17:37 (Reply)

    Nice post Vic,
I like the thick skinned. The people I have sent I have warned that they may not like the way you deliver the message. However, It’s an excellent message and a lot can be learned. Being a prior rebel, I could agree with a couple years in the military or at least a couple months of Basic Training. It teaches people to move quickly and learn to keep your mouth shut. As far as discipline (DennisJr<–needs to work on blogging discipline for Make Money online) LOL

I hope you are feeling better. Health is the key to everything.

    1. Vic on 14.07.2008 at 14:22 (Reply)

Most people have a serious lack of discipline and commitment to actually making it. Most folks want to be successful but their expectations are it will happen by magic.

  11. Adam on 12.07.2008 at 17:39 (Reply)

Nice to see ya again, its been quite some time since we heard you last. You have the ability to change lives. Get well soon, bro.

    1. Vic on 14.07.2008 at 14:23 (Reply)

Hopefully will be back full blast soon, but no 20 hour days LMAO!!!

    - Bookshop Bruce here..

    Hey Vic,
Nice to see a post…I miss the videos. Hope you can consider doing one at an easier pace, perhaps indulging us once a week. I just wanted to let you know that your site and your teachings are having an impact. Before blogger unleashed my best month was maybe $20.00 of adsense. A few days ago one of my Bans sites had a visitor that ended up buying a $20,000 boat! My cut was only $55.00 (have to look into that) but I was thrilled none the less. Not making a fortune yet (I can only do this part time) but getting better every month. My local niche blog is coming along nicely as well. Thanks a bunch - look forward to your ‘real’ return.

    Bruce

    1. Steve McGrath on 12.07.2008 at 21:47 (Reply)

Motors are fix fees. It’s not like you normal items fees. So no hundreds $$$ for you :(

Tip: Don’t anchor a BANS site on BU or other MMO sites. You don’t want to others to use your keyword research. ;)

    2. Vic on 14.07.2008 at 14:24 (Reply)

I promise Bruce I will I just need to make some serious changes in the way I do things but soon enough the videos will come ;)

  13. Sencha on 12.07.2008 at 20:55 (Reply)

Great couple of posts to wake up and read at breakfast today. My husband thought I was a little strange that I yelled out “YAY!” when I saw your posts :)

Although I am one of those noobs with LOTS to learn, I am very grateful for all that I have learned not only about the process in the past couple of months but about myself too. I’m having to dig back into that reservoir of being focused, dedicated and willing to give up my “free time” after being home with my son for the past 4 years. It’s good for me to remember that you have to get the work done in order to get paid.

Although we miss you, I’m thrilled you are taking this time for yourself and family. When we feel lonely in the chatroom Diane or one of the others will crack out their Vic imitation and it always makes me laugh. Who knew Diane could swear so much? LOL

Heal and be well my friend!

    1. Diane on 13.07.2008 at 00:21 (Reply)

Oh, Sencha, if you only knew the real me! LOL! I, too, shouted Hooray! when I realized Vic had posted something new at BU. My kids came running in to see what the excitement was all about.

    2. Vic on 14.07.2008 at 14:25 (Reply)

LMAO!!! Thanks!!! I hope to soon be back and help out.

  14. Frank C on 12.07.2008 at 21:37 (Reply)

Hope you’re feeling better Vic. You probably needed a little time off to recharge.

Now that you’re back you can answer those all important questions like “Why aren’t my BMD links showing up?” :)

    1. Vic on 14.07.2008 at 14:26 (Reply)

LMAO!!!!!!! I am serious! This is one of those things I really do not miss god knows I have answered enough why my links do not show questions enough LMAO

  15. These types of posts certainly turn up the motivation level for me anyway.

  16. Wanda on 25.07.2008 at 08:34 (Reply)

Great post, so many people I have met just do not have the discipline required to work at home. It is so easy to get distracted.

Have just come across your blog and find it to be excellent value.
