Hi Vic,
I found your site through Day Job Nuker and I’ve been lurking for a bit. I have to say that you’ve really opened my eyes about blogging so thank you for that.
An old post of yours talked about building a website portfolio which really made me reconsider my flagship blog. It was done for fun but now I too am getting serious and considering building online businesses.
I have gone ahead and purchased BANS, Keyword Elite, SEO Elite and BMD.
And, as they say in the investing niche, I am doing my due diligence and I take full responsibility for my actions.
Now, what I would like to know is when making these hundreds of domains, do you put them all on the same host as addons to your primary domain?
What happens if Google sandboxes one of your sites, or lowers the PR? Does it affect/punish the rest of your sites?
I would imagine the safe thing to do would be to find multiple Hosting?
Thanks for all the information your sharing.
Mariam
Sorry Miriam, take a look at my comment below for more info. I forgot to use the reply function.
Vic, Would you tell us how you would go about picking those 100 domains you mentioned for using with BANS? Do you base it on keywords or on your categories or some other way? Mel
Mel, maybe I can help you out with that a bit. I am surely not Vic but I do know what is working for me.
When you pick keywords its good to first do your keyword research first. Don’t just buy a domain and then hope to figure out what to use it for after the fact.
The best way to go about finding the keywords is to go to ebay and start browsing around. Look at specific products that people are selling. then type that keyword into whatever tool you are using to find out how many people have searched for it for per day or per month. next look at the even longer tail keywords for that particular word. For example….
Lets say I was looking for “nike shoes”. First I would look and see what variations of nike shoes are out there. there is no way in heck that I could rank within a week or even a month for just “nike shoes” by itself.
But now lets say I wanted to rank for “Zoom Nike shoes size 13″, I definitely have a chance, as long as I link build and use the tools like BMD and comment on blogs etc..
The point then being is to find a general keyword, then from there go to longertail keywords that you can rank for that are not searched as much but will still give you that trickle traffic that Vic is talking about.
Hope this helps.
Thanks Justin, that helps a lot. Now I take it Vic meant as soon as we have a catagory and some keywords picked out to get the URL ASAP to start it aging. Then when we have the content ready we can get it up and we are to some degree ahead of the game because the URL has some age on it. Thanks again.
Yes Mel the key is to get the site up as soon as possible so that Google can start indexing the pages. this will help not only for the domain to age but for the individual pages as well.
Mariam, hopefully this will help answer your question. It really does not matter that you have just one Hosting account. When you start off I would recommend getting a reseller Hosting account from hostgator and using it for those sites.
Think about this for a moment…. Since you buy a shared Hosting account and use only one Hosting account for all your sites, do you realize how many other people are sharing this same server with the same shared IP? Its a lot many times its hundreds if not thousands. Do you think if one of your sites got sandboxed it would affect these other 1000’s of sites on the same server? No it will not. With that being said, get yourself a reseller account. For practicality and organization this is much better than just getting a regular shared account like a baby or a swamp account. Hope this helps you out.
Justin, that makes a lot of sense.
It wouldn’t make sense that one bad apple from a host spoils a bunch and Google would punish all from the same IP.
I remember reading that somewhere so I guess it’s bad info.
I was also thinking of getting multiple Hosting for risk prevention. Er, not for all 100 domains but maybe splitting it up into 3 hosts along with the free blogger and wordpress.com ones and squidoo as well. I thought this would help with link building from other IPs. But in all honestly, that’s a drop in the bucket. If I can get that from BMD and article/directory/comment submissions like Vic talked about, then I’m really over thinking this. I’m quite happy with my current host.
Thanks for the reply, Justin.
Mariam
Thanks Justin.
I was looking for some Hosting tips and Vic had some advice in his past vlog, went through some of the vlog posts but could’nt find the one. Have a lil query of mine if you could answer that, suppose you get a reseller account and you put all your 100 sites on it. What if some one does a reverse IP lookup, will all your sites be known to that person. Should we go for a separate IP for every few sites like grouping them together. What do you recommend?
Adam, no worries buddy, getting a dedicated IP for every account is expensive. I dont even do it. I have several Hosting accounts. But once again let me tell you something, even people that work affiliate marketing dont have dedicate IP’s. They use a shared IP with tons of other people so its hard to find them. The fact is nobody really cares so I would recommend sticking with just the shared IP you get. It is mixed in with lots of other sites. Besides if someone really really wanted to find your sites they could.
So once again, just use the one shared IP it wont make a difference, and it will save you some money.
Vic,
Every single time I see one of your videos I have always learned something. On this video I think i have learned the the most valuable lesson. In several sentences you’ve described ” my dumb ass”. I make a site do nothing, wait six months start another and then wonder why the fuck the first one did shit.
You are right this ain’t rocket science. Simply focus, apply what I’ve learned, learn from what I’ve applied, rinse, repeat.
Thanks
I am glad that it has opened your horizons and provides you with the tools and knowledge to make money
Ive been sitting on my first site for 1 month now(daily checking adsense/stats)… ill get off my ass due to this post thanks for the 5 months back
I have a question however i freelanced designed my source income for my online business and have just $350 to play with.

Vic,
Really great video again. I’ve got a pad just for notes to take down when I’m watching your videos, because I learn something new on every one.
