Time Expectations
By Vic on Jan 29, 2008 in Monetization
Now after 3 months or so doing exactly what we tell you guys to do he is now AVG $50 a day. Again Folks I know that is not much money but it is like he says if he stopped doing anything today it is nice to know you got $50 coming in every day.
Folks they key is the portfolio. Diversification if one site makes nothing another does. Have your core sites your local niches. BANS. Work your domains and build value.
Now this site now has 45 days and I need to know where all of you are at right now to know what I need to focus on. Remember folks right now I am way slammed with the BZ and BU hack and the restore of my other sites.
But I do not want for you folks to slow because of my problems I want to make sure that in 45 days we have a Skype call and you tell me the same thing my buddy told me that you are AVG $50 a day minimum.
So make comments here what is happening. Where you are at. If you are having trouble let me and the others know. We can not help you if we do not know. You are not alone we are a community and as such we need to support each other.
Also please I need to make a must read post page for new people coming to the site. So please if you can also let me know what post helped you folks the most I would appreciated. Remember the new person coming to the site needs to catch up where all of you folks are at.

Ok, for me I think it’s the confidence and speed at which links are created. Before I got a few links here and a few links there and pretty much left it at that. I was so obsessed with being “natural”.
Now I’m trying to build a few hundred links at a time using BMD and Article Marketer. I’ll also be submitting a lot more articles to the likes of buzzle, hub pages, gather and other free places.
It’s the re-writing of articles that’s a killer for me. That’s why I bought BMD last week to supplement my article directory submissions.
April
April this is what we need to do and just keep building and use the tools to speed up normal slow things that take away time from building new niches and growing our core sites.
Please keep us in the loop see if we can help more.
Hi Vic. My other main site is http://www.finerliving.net which is a home and garden site. I’ve been working hard on it the last couple of weeks but I’m unsure if I’m maybe updating it a bit too much now.
Perhaps I should spread the posts out a bit more and update my other domains which I’ve owned for quite a while and will be aged.
I like the home and garden niche because I’m getting twice the ecpm compared to some other sites I have.
It’s just trying to strike a balance.
Thanks,
April
I think a lot of people struggle with the writing part.
You might want to try Instant Article Wizard if you don’t want to spend a lot of money and are comfortable with doing rewrites of rough drafts (that’s what I’m using and doing) or you could try Content Composer if you want a more complete and complex solution but it does cost a lot more (Denise uses this, I think).
Hi Vic,
So far I am making about 30 cents a day. I have two niche sites, but both went into the sandbox. I was getting great traffic before that though so I am excited for when they come out of the sandbox.
Where I am at so far:
1. 1 blog about blogging and the latest news on the Internet - http://newestonthenet.com . This is my flagship blog, but it makes me no money. This is in line with what you teach about blogging blogs making no money. It has a lot of great content though.
2. 2 niche sites. I need to get better at finding niches. Additionally, I need to get better at figuring out whether to pull the trigger on a keyword or not. I think that I get greedy on the number of daily searches I am looking for. What is your floor Vic? What about the others here?
3. BMD. I have purchased BMD about 2 weeks ago. It certainly makes it easy to submit articles to social sites.
4. BANS. This will be my next purchase. I need to start setting up these BANS sites.
5. Squidoo. I have been using Squidoo. I have been using it for a long time. I think that this is good for diversification.
So my most pressing need is figuring out what niches to play in and what criteria to use to determine if it is worth my time.
-Fred
Fred I look not as much as searches but competition. So let’s say I want to make a niche site on “Credit Cards” and I know that this keyword string has 3 million searches a month but the first page of Goggle they are all sites with tons and tons of inlinks and it would take me years to reach top five but yet the search string “Sucky Credit Cards” has lets say only 3000 searches a month but position one on Google is a PR3 with 500 inlinks shit I am all over that now if I do my math correctly I get position one only 100 searches a day but I get all one hundred uniques now I AVG 5% CTR this gives me 5 clicks a day X AVG CPC $8.5 is 42.5 a day just from that one site with almost no traffic.
Remember the key to niche sites is you do not need tons of traffic you just need targeted organic traffic.
Fred if you need we can talk on Skype.
And please keep building this is the key just keep buiding BANS, niches, hubs, squidoo buy pre-owned domains and re-sell them for profit make your portfolio.
I agree with April, running BMD and taking the time to rewrite so many articles for different sites…wow…killer.
I just had my first $5 day with yahoo ads…dumped google for awhile as I was smart priced. Not to shabby so far with Yahoo, I’m pretty impressed with them…
I think the hardest part is not knowing if what we are doing is right. I think that comes from not being able to see instant or quicker results.
My trust is in Vic, Court and Grizz to lead me to the money! Like you say Vic, one day you will wake up and be on top rollin in it.
I can’t wait for that day (and neither can my wife)
Are Yahoo ads like Adsense? I think I need to find out more about Yahoo ads.
Bruce pls take the time I can not use them because of my location and even though there CPC is way lower then Adsense they do not do pricing. SO on sites you may be getting priced from Adsense this is a great alternative.
Yep, pretty much like Adsense ads, but they are still fairly new, I’m guessing, so their options are a little limited.
Also, they don’t have daily tracking. you have to wait until the next day to see previous days traffic and clicks, etc.
I know they are working on that part, as it is a large request on their system, and I have emailed them a couple of times so far.
Elliot buddy you are so dead on. When we are new we keep second guessing what we do because we simply have not done it before. They key to working like Grizz, Court and me do it is the fact that we build a site with the same basics we teach and move on to build another.
The problem with new people is they Build a site and then sit on it to see where they are todya in the rankings and how much I made today and look at their adsense 50 times a day.
We do not do this. We know if we do this and that we will get such results. SO we build it do what we do and move on to make another.
Experience makes a difference too. My first niche foray was one thing, but I notice on my second site that I am a lot more focused on the keywords, and less being natural and talking about stuff that’s less monetizable. I’ve gotten comfortable with how to do the research and gotten some tools to leverage what I’m doing. I’m still not reaching for great heights (yet!) so much to convince myself it can be done in a focused manner in the bush leagues.
Robert nothing wrong taking your time. As a fact I have said this is important that you do it like that because in the beginning is 120% effort and 15% results but tell you what if you are consistent and keep solid fundamentals it is amazing how quick the money starts adding up.
I am slowly working on two niche sites. One has been up two weeks and it has made about a buck fifty in adsence. It is #23 on Google for the search term that I am targeting. Hey, its a free blogger blog so I am happy so far. I am just going to slowly keep working when I have time.
Bruce with you buddy it might be a bit slower because you are so slammed with your day job. Just keep pushing and moving forward. Bruce please trust me you will see how all this different venues start providing good money on a daily basis.
One more thing. The smartpriced situation is what confuses me. One day I think I am and another day I think I am not.
Vic, I have two adsense blocks on my Dayjobnuker site. One on the widget side and one at the end of the posts. I hate to pull both off because I do make some money but it is my worst performing adsense site as you can imagine. DO I HAVE TO PULL BOTH BLOCKS OFF OR WILL IT HELP IF I JUST PULL THE MAIN BLOCK OFF THAT IS IN THE WIDGET COLUMN? Thanks.
Have you set up custom channels in Adsense? That will tell you if the click through rates on those ads are significantly higher or lower than the rest. If one is performing well and the other sucks, then you can just get rid of the one not doing well.
From talking with Vic, and from experience, if you are getting smart priced, it will affect your whole network of ads on your sites!
If you are getting .05 and .10 cent clicks, and had been getting better CTR payouts, then chances are you are smart-priced.
So, I had to take off ALL adsense ads on ALL of my sites. This is why I thought it would be a good time to try Yahoo ads and check them out.
Hope taht helps some.
I was under the impression that you can just take down the adsense that you know is doing poorly. I think Court says that under a 3% ctr is not good and to take those down. I don’t want to take them all down cause I am making over $40.00 a month.
Bruce I know this is going to suck but I would remove both. It is amazing how many 3cent ads I see when I go to your blog. This will hurt your network. Please save your Adsense for real tight niches. Look at Yahoo ads they might be an option and not hurt your pricing with Adsense. I use Adsense very limited just for the niches that have high CPC and I know I will not get 3cent ads.
Ok, I removed all adsense from my main site
BUT….the good news is I have made another 82 cents today on one of my intentionally crappy written niche blogger blogs. THIS SHIT WORKS!
Bruce,
If you were getting smart priced from Adsense, you should try yahoo publisher on that site. i am using it on my niche sites and a couple of others and they don’t smart price. I am getting clicks at high as 1.50 so far on a couple of the sites.
Try them and see what you think.
Thanks Elliot I did sign up so I hope I am approved.
I just found this site along with Courts and Grizz site about 2 weeks ago, and gosh, it seems like suddenly these pages had the answers to my questions .. but the thing is , I have been reading your site along with Courts and Grizz and now I have even more questions. But its a good thing I think, because I’m was really interested in trying to make money on the web but everywhere I go I just can’t seem to find any good resources. You know those pages that tell you everything about nothing ?
Anyway, I think I have found some nice niches for myself to start with and I am going to try to setup a blog and do some research for the niches I’m going to blog for tonight.
For me, the Make Money Online 100% Success post is a wake up call and I think its great for beginners because it outlines what effort it takes and what expectations people should have before jumping in and finding out its not they wanted.
Other sites just glorify the entire process by giving huge ads saying How to be instantly rich with Adsense and stuff like that, but after reading through your blogs for this entire week.. I gain a better picture of the entire process and I’m yearning to learn more.
I know I”m a little slow to this niche blogs so its nice to know there’s a community here to help.
Alvin welcome and bless you buddy. I am so happy to read what you wrote. This is the whole reason of this site.
Alvin please make sure you first try to find a good pre-owned domain it will save you tons of heartache later.
I’ve been at this a little over a month and, at least in my opinion, so far so good. I set out with the expectation that it would take a little time to build up so… My biggest problem has been the sheer volume of new information I’m getting from you guys and trying to absorb it all…its kinda like trying to drink from a fire hose! But I make notes, lay out a plan and (try) to work through that plan every day. BTW, about half my AdSense income (a whopping $5) this month has come from one of the keyword sites I setup. 30 minutes and never looked back. It gets at least 20 hits a day.
Thom that is the key buddy. Make the site make sure you get the right monetization place it in your link building campaign and go build another.
lol
I’m still sputtering, but the firehose hasn’t knocked me down yet! Hard to open my eyes tho
Even though I have been trying to learn how to make money online for almost three years now and failing miserably, I consider myself still a newbie.
Between the three sites (yours, Court’s,and Grizz) there seems like more to do than there is time to do it in.
Your BMD post helped alot! I have quite a few tools but never quite know how to use them to there most efficient.
Also your $25,000 challenge pushed me into a new direction that I hadn’t considered before. I have spent the better part of the past couple of weeks working on this site. Mostly getting my site name into the header. Thanks to Elliott, I finally got that worked out last evening.
I think for the new person, staying focused and not trying to do it all is the hardest part. There is so much to do and learn.
The challenge was opened and then the HACKER CRAP hit and we never were able to get back with what to do that will make the most gain with these local niche sites. I would love to make $25K by the end of the year. It would solve a great deal of my financial dilema. Unfortunately I do not know exactly where we should go with these.
I think if there was a better forum set up on this site we could all interact at the pace at which we are at. With the different time zones and job constraints, it is even harder to connect with everyone. Even with Skype, it is difficult for me to connect with anyone at the time I have available.
If I could figure out how to make $50 a day at this moment I would be able to pay my bills finally.
Denise I am so sorry, I know this thing has hurt some of you because I have not been able to do one on ones. Please forgive me but I hope this week we finish this mess and I can sit with you one on one to help you. Trust me Denise I want you to succeed and you will!!!
I think my biggest problem is giving things time… I want to focus focus focus on one site until I see results then move onto another. It wastes a lot of time because all the site needs a a little bit of time for google to get comfortable with it… I’m just to impatient by times… maybe I’ll put down my current project and wait for my first check
I know what you mean. Its hard to not know whether you are doing the right thing immediately. You might not know for a month or two whether you have had a successful strategy.
Please do not spend so much time on each site. Remember what we preach is diversification. Build your portfolio. And do the same thing over and over.
Well, I’ve gotten two of my niche blogs sent to the Google litter box after being on the 1st page for a few days, one even had a double entry. That’s something I guess.
I’ve got a some other, newer ones, that don’t have much traffic yet. I’ve got one brand new domain that Google simply refuses to index.
I’ll be launching my local niche site in a few weeks but until then I’m tied up with closing on the new house and moving. Hopefully I won’t be offline too long while I’m doing that.
Hey Frank shit good to see you buddy. Frank where the two blogs new domains?
Hi Vic,
One was about 8 months old, a domain I had bought and put a default install of WordPress on with about 10 articles. I didn’t do anything else with it until November. The other sandboxed one was bought in November.
The thing I struggle with the most is information overload and too many angles to do things. I have now focused on building my local niche site which is going well, next will be my BANS and then the other niche domains I have purchased.
My problem isn’t lack of want, but lack of time as I do a LOT of writing for clients and since 3 month they basically chase me for work. I haven’t had to look for a new job but would at the same time want some time to build my niches.
I’m afraid that having that limited time will make me waste time since I’m not always 100% focused on which way to go. From local niche to BANS to pre-owned domain niches I have a ton of sites to build.
If I stop my writing I don’t earn money which I don’t want. So I need a step by step plan to build a niche, monetize it the right way and build the right links. I don’t even own BMD for fear of not having time to utilize it like I should.
I’m kind of lost and would love nothing more than being mentored one on one like you did with this young kid. I believe it will cut down on wasting time and getting things done that matter.
Other than that, I’m fine and really happy considering the process.
Monika will talk when you log on.
I’m a newbie fairly new to your blog, and still trying to catch-up, but here are your posts that have been most helpful to me:
-Unplug Yourself Now!
-Your Local Niche Market
-Make $25k In 2008 I Challenge You!
This direction in blogging looks like a lot of fun to do & extremely time intensive to do a good job of it. Also, I’m not quite sure how one will make $25k in 2008 with it. Can you help me see this?
Keep up the great work that you do in teaching us through your posts. I’m definately a “Vic” fan.
John Local Niches are just a different beast. But the fact is that you get local GEO authority fro Google so this basically means that when people in you area do a search in Google for new car and you wrote an article on new cars guess who will be position one in their data center. Now because you are GEO you made that post just for adsense and now guess who will be paying the high CPC your local car dealers. Now you also get something you will not get on a blog about blogging you will get local advertising and once your blog grows you get secondary benefits like free meals and the such. Now through the whole process all you need is one day with a news story you get picked up on and that one day can turn into traffic for 5 days and make $25 in that week alone.
John BTW $25k is shit money. If this is what I could only make on the net I would do something else.
Diversification - Lets see, 50 per day times 5 sites is about 250 a day, or 1550 per week. Wheres my gold star?
You’ll have to excuse my typing, I have sea legs from my eight day cruise. Had to rub that in.
Where am I: adding plug-ins and adding sitemaps.
New People: Page “How to join the Local Niche Movement” with steps that must be taken to become a member.
What post effected me most - $25,000 challenge
Thanks again for your help. I’m still trying to catch up.
FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!! I love it this is what I am talking about results. I love it. Please keep us inform how well it keeps growing.
$50 * 5 * 7 = $1750.
Monika, I agree that being taken by the hand would be wonderful. I signed up for Vic’s mentorship program, but with his illness and then the Hacker ordeal I don’t think he has much time lately.
It is nice to hear you are atleast making money with your freelance writing.
I do like your new template on the local niche site.
I don’t know what happened on the Skype site last evening. Maybe you hit the call button by mistake. I could hear you talking but evidently you could not hear me.
Denise trust me I will get to you after we finish fixing the mess. I need to get Costa and I will move to you.
Beats me Denise,
You suddenly disappeared and that was it. But I’m glad you are moving ahead with your theme now. Also it wouldn’t load at my end last night, so maybe you were working on it.
As for my freelancing income, I’m close to earning a full time income which is great, but the reason I’m so keen on getting my niches going the right way (so they will also earn me $50/day in 3 month) is that if I stop writing tomorrow I won’t earn anything!
Residual income is key to the whole scenario and a combination of both would be the ideal situation for me.
Vic 8 sites , getting to them all is wearing on me, but perhaps I m trying to do too much with them, Making Sales Making Money still feels like my baby and gets 99% of my time, it also produces most of my money , all of it actually ,
Don just make the pages you need to make on the niche the blog setup is always the same and move forward. Set and forget. The more time you spend on each project the less time you will have to keep building.
We will have to talk soon Vic, fact is 2 of my sites are about sports and they require some input , probably should have stayed away form those , but sports is one of the things I know really well, too much actually
Hi VIc,
I’m in the same boat as Monika as I got lucky pulling a real nice writing gig but its slammed me for time to do other stuff. It’s almost like a real j-o-b (that’s a very fucking bad word…LMAO!!)
I’ve got quite a few niche sites (you’ve visited a few of them) but they are all pretty much treading water as I just don’t have the time to do what I want with them. My Alternative Cures site is a year old now and sits on Google’s page 1 and averages 120 uniques a day but the problem is the site gives away all the answers and people don’t so much click on the ads. I want to keep it going with good content and keep building up the PR (its a 3 now) so I can sell it in the near future. I also get a few affiliate sales from the ebooks I promote so that makes up for it but nowhere near what I know that site is capable of.
Worse for me is I lost adsense a year ago and they won’t let me back (I tried a couple months ago but no luck). As I’m outside the US I can’t use Yahoo ads so I’m stuck with Bidvertiser which is a poor relation to the other two. I made a whole $5.72 last month overall so you can see how dire my PPC situation is!
On the fun side, I made $300 out of PPP with that crap PR6 site before it got slapped, so it was worth the exercise and I know I can do it again if the writing work ever dries up.
Some of my niche blogger blogs could do better too, but I think I’m getting shafted by some bad competitors somewhere - I got a payday loans post all the way to the number 1 spot for a nice well searched keyword but the next day that post was buried. The site’s homepage still appears around the third or forth page for a couple of long tails so I don’t think its sandboxed. But that’s a bad niche, so anything is possible.
I’m still building Squidoo lenses when I get time as they are a very useful link farm to have in addition to blogger and wordpress blogs.
My local site is getting some of my time and I’m trying to post at least every other day - more when I have time, so I think that will have a nice future.
That’s about where I am right now, so there is lots to do…
The $25,000 challenge fired me up big time… but a lot of your early posts showed me that most of what I’d already learned was bollocks and there IS a better way that works!
Thanks hombre!
Terry thank so much. I am so stoked please keep building them and promoting you will see how it moves up on SERPS and trickle targeted traffic is priceless.
Hi Vic,
I am working on 2 niche blogs with not a strogn competition. It seems that one of them is in sandbox now. My biggest issue is with getting high PR do follow backlinks.
I have tried writing and submitting articles through article marketer and article submission softwares without any luck. Do you know if there is a way of getting anchored text backlinks with decent PR (dofollow) without spending a fortune?
Adeel sorry no real magic bullet. I use BMD, Article Submissions, Directories and D-list
I’ve put my formerly main blog on hold to work on niche blogs. My video site is really hit or miss; somedays I get decent traffic (if you call over 50 uniques decent) and a click or two, somedays I get squat. I just keep adding videos and move forward.
I’ve done some keyword research and have 2 niches on deck, just need the time to actually get them going (using blogger for them).
I think I have a REALLY good BANS niche in the wings, just gota find a preowned domain and actually get the BANS software.
My problem is trying to get better traffic. With my videos, I get excellent ranking with Google on the keywords, but I don’t really see the follow-through. Also either I’m smart-priced or the keywords I’m focusing on pay really low.
Desty the important thing is to have a diversified portfolio the more options the more results.
I have launched my local niche site, and I’m putting up other niche sites at a rate of one every couple days. I’m monetizing my regular niche sites as they get indexed. My local niche site is 100% local advertiser supported. I’ve got over half my available ad space filled, with strong prospects on the rest of it.
Honestly, I’m not sure where I need to go. I’m really interested in the support group and seeing that grow. I tried to use the forum today, but couldn’t get anything past the forum index to load. No specific forums or forum posts. I would have wrote it off as a side effect of you getting hacked, but the recent activity shows posts dated today. Has that become members only?
Please could you clear your cache to see if it gets fixed. What browser are you using see if it is a browser thing.
Hi,
Let me introduce myself
I’ve been lurking around your site along with Court’s and Grizz’s. I’ve found tons of great info between these three sites that sound like they could really work. Granted there are a million sites out there with a million ways to try to make money but I think these three sites are the best ones to start out with because they are not filled with a bunch of BS that is just being promoted solely to get affiliate income for the sake of making money off of other people’s dreams of “getting rich quick.”
I’ve been lurking the sites around a month now and what really made me stick with this was Court’s keyword sniping article which was a GREAT step by step approach to making a niche site such that even the n00best of n00bs could follow as long as they read it thoroughly. Then I came across this site and realized how A-listers were keeping all the secrets to themselves and giving us the vaguest of ideas. I kept reading problogger to try to get ideas and i’m not here to bash the site cuz it’s got decent beginners ideas for starting off blogging but if you are here to seriously make some money, you will not find the complete 100% detailed answers such as the ones you find here at Vic’s site as well as Court and Grizz. “Are You Still in the Matrix” article by Vic really did wake me up to the reality of a lot of these “make money blogs” and after reading that, I realized so 99.9% of the make money blogs out there are so BS but after a while you can tell which ones are sites that you can learn something off of and which ones are just total rehash/crap/fake/etc. I love the idea of a local niche blog though I am still uncertain as to how I would get news because I’m still wondering how in the world I would compete with the local newspaper/tv news.
About me and my sites, before I had run into Vic’s site, I had create a site about related to youtube but youtube community kept flagging my videos.. it was sweet cuz i was making $50 a day just on adsense for about a week after 2-3 weeks of developing the site and my youtube account. guess that goes to show that any short term stuff like that is always short lived so now i am trying to develop a more legit way of doing things.
Now I had no idea of how to make a site without using Youtube as a traffic generator so I kept searching around sites and finally came across a few good sites like Vic’s, Court’s, and Grizz’s and kept learning about the importance of keywords, niches, search volume, CPC, BMD etc etc.
So I made 2 niche sites, one that needs regular updates and one that is kind of a set and forget. I am now starting to think that I should back away from blogs that need regular updating because I work a full-time job and only have about 10 hours a week to work on projects. I will perhaps take up this BANS thing and some other set and forget sites like Squidoo/Clickbank or other niche blogs. Maybe once I make $50 a day, then I can start to think about taking it to the next level. Heck, if I make enough to quit my day job then I would love to go all out on this stuff. As of right now, the two sites I made are making zip bceause I haven’t put adsense on them yet, kinda want to brand them first/get more traffic before I adsense it.
I love the blog community here because everyone seems so helpful and asks the questions that need to be asked so that answers can be shown to the rest of us who need a little bit more guidance. I write way too much but consider this my spiel to make up for my month of silence of hanging around the site.
David welcome and I am so happy you have found useful info here an at the guys sites. Because your limitations of time I would not go into a Local Niche for now I would work simple keyword snipe niches and BANS. Try to get a few tools to automate and help you promote so you can spend more time building niches and BANS. Please keep us informed and remember here everybody wants to help each other so you are not alone.
I still cannot get into the forum. I have been trying since yesterday. I have some questions on the plug-ins.
Here is the link I use.
http://bloggerunleashed.com/fo.....amp;page=1
maybe that is better…
Thanks for helping so much I hope the link helped her.
Denise can you clear your cache to see if this is cache related. Please what Browser are you using.
Thanks Atlantic City! The linked helped.
Vic, I am using IE 7
I am at work right now but I do clear my cache frequently daily. Not sure what the deal is!
Now I will go over to the forum.
Oh Vic, I noticed Blogger Unleashed finally got out of the sandbox. Congrats! Not sure why the PR is not higher however. Maybe you could explain that to us in a post.
Hey Vic,
I finally started my own blog and let me tell you its a lot more work than i thought! Luck for me i enjoy to write my own articles and i have learned alot from this blog and your friend grizz’s blog. Keep up the excellent work you guys are doing in showing us newbies how we to can make money online!
Jose
It seems like everyone is getting a great start on their projects. I am still a little behind though. I registered my local domain and got a theme on it, but haven’t had time to tweak it up to my liking yet. I started a couple of niche blogs (free blogger ones thanks to Griz) and am trying to figure out what to do with 3 other domains I am not using. I still need to talk to you about those on Skype Vic, I just wanted to give you time to get your stuff straightened out before I bothered you.
I also got my main blog up and running again. I don’t plan on monetizing that too much right now though, just more for fun. I got quite an interesting post over there now about the A-listers.
As far as a time frame I don’t expect a whole lot. I know this will take some time and I am prepared for that. It isn’t something that will happen overnight. Thanks for keeping us on task though Vic.
