Online Advertising A Study

Folks If you can just get past my foul language and horrible writing just for one sec, I would like to welcome you to my world. I READ!!!! And I do this every day. I love research and studies. This is what actually gives you a competitive advantage in todays world. If you understand a persons thinking and habits you are able to cater to his needs.
It is 1:00 AM here and I have a seminar I have to be at today at 8:00 AM. So folks instead of draining my 147 IQ trying to get this out tonight, I will just ask you to read this study from September 9, 2004.
A Study of the Effects of Online Advertising: A Focus on Pop-Up and In-Line Ads
There are many more studies, but there are a few key things I want you to understand before I go deeper on actual monetization and this study covers them.

I think most of the study results are in the expected lines. Ads are annoying and particularly intrusive ads are more annoying.
One result that surprised me is this: Non-congruent ads lead to greater memory of both the site content and the advertisement. I, all the while, felt that congruent ads will help you to relate with the content and will be easy to remember.
Another interesting fact is the reception of ads by the U.S. and the Mexicans.
Probably, I will wait for your next post to understand what is the significance of this study to us. Don’t tell me that stop showing ads completely to enhance the behavioural intentions. Thanks.

But, when it comes to ads, OpTempo is sort of a lab right now where I can go crazy and break some conventional thinking rules. For example, you’re supposed to have a few neat rows of 125×125 ads just like John Chow, not big honkin’ 300×600 ads, in your sidebar.
