Make Money with Adsense
By Vic on Mar 13, 2008 in Monetization

Make Money with Adsense how many times have we read that and really how much money have you made with Adsense? The facts are what they are. Adsense is the best money maker on the net but 95% of people are totally clueless when it comes how to make money with Adsense. In order to Make money with Adsense you have to fully understand what Adsense is and how to use it. In this Vlog I go over what we have discussed before about making money with Adsense but now I have the opportunity to discuss it better.
Google AdSense is an ad serving program run by Google. Website owners can enroll in this program to enable text, image and, more recently, video advertisements on their sites. These AdSense ads are administered by Google and generate revenue on either a per-click or per-thousand-impressions basis.

Glasgow doesn’t seem to be a good place to live, most of the keywords are paying a few dollars at most. Although I have found some for car insurance and surgery which is nearly $30. But in general they’re usually only a couple of dollars. For instance “glasgow lawyer” is $2.94. Compare that to lawyer related terms in Chicago and you’ll realize how bad Glasgow is.
I guess I’ll just have to do a bit more digging around for high paying KWs.

April I will answer better in a video post because of a few important things I have to explain.
Great info Vic!
On my one niche blog, I am getting around, on average, about a 16% CTR, sometimes more. This has brought my overall CTR up quite a bit from my stupidity days of Adsense.
One issue I have is that I can get 2 or 3 clicks, and only get $.01 for them. But, I can get $2 on the next click, from the same channel!
WTF!!!
Adsense is really pissing me off with that. Some days I can get $5 or better with 20 clicks, and then other days, 20 clicks only gets me $1…
I don’t know what is going on…any insight into why?
Elliot it is all about Geo Targeting and I will talk about this on a comment video. But in a nut shell let say today you had 4 visits that triggered local ads the competition is higher then on a nation wide so those are the sweet clicks.
Vic, so when that happens, it isn’t smart pricing? Let’s say you have 5 clicks each day (e.g.), and 4 of them get you 1-3c per click but then the 5th one usually pays like a coupla dollars.
Here’s another fun misspelled Adsense search term for you: Adcents.
Geotargeting is killer, BTW.
There are some very underserved local markets and niches out there but I hope they’re not going to start drying up now.
Adcents done added to list LMAO. Frank trust me niches will never run out. There are so many word combinations that their is food for all
Damn Vic - first the sweet rock theme song mix and now you got yourself a backdrop. You’re sure scaling up your video productions
Great post though, you cleared up some stuff I was confused on and it makes more sense to choose your monetization method first and stick with it. I am guilty of putting up more then one method.
My wife is building me a mini studio
The backdrop is actually blue screen notice how it looks like smoke moving. I actually will talk about the production in a comment video.
Trust me just give it a try and make a one month commitment on trying it and you will see the results.
Thanks so much for mentioning the local niche blogs. I was kind of wondering where I should go with this local niche to make money. I have heard of a couple of ideas that I brought up in the forum but they sound like a lot of technical work that I am not sure I can handle. Keep talking about the local blogs. I need more info. The adsense tip was gold. Thanks!
I will be making Vlogs just for the local niches.
Great video Vic. I’m glad you mentioned what you did about local niches. I just had a look at what mine would pay for real estate or lawyers or even hotels and all the clicks are very dismal. Not worth to go into it.
Never mind. I look forward to the Open Ads video as it will help me to understand this better, plus it’s given me some great ideas on new niches again.
Monika when you say dismal how much money?
Hi Vic,
Some $.043 per click and not enough searches to show in Keyword Elite
sorry, that should have been $0.43
Totally agree with you. great post. Also, please help these guys to understand there is a risk with this stuff too. People can not rely on making a really sweet income off just one or 2 niches.
I got up to 50 bucks a day after only 3 months of work on a niche, but I was stupid and stuffed it too hard. People need to understand just like you have told me and told other people, not to put all beans in niche blogs.
What happened in your situation, Justin?
As you know buddy big big believer in a diverse portfolio of income god forbid something happens with one stream you have multiple still coming in.
I’m looking forward to the local niche vlog posts. ..I feel a little lost with my local niche blog.
I looked over the cpc for lawyers and such in my area, and it’s about half as much as the chicago targeted terms. The other local business stuff like pest control and real estate is a little low compared to some, and it seems that the more travel and tourism related terms for my area are what pays more.
Anyway, thanks for another great post and I’ll be back for your elaboration on local niche blogs
Basically, I think that a lot of these guys might be doing what I did for a while and that was to just focus and work really hard on just a handful of sites. After getting deindexed it still reminds me that you can lose what you thought was half of a full time income literally overnight.
Thats why its so important to spread yourself out over multiple income streams. The thing I like that I am getting more in the mentality of doing is research a niche, build a site, build some links, move on to the next. Its not rocket science, but it is going against the grain of human nature to want to see how they are doing and spend too much time on stats, and checking how much was made every hour or 2, and this is why people don’t get it, and don’t have the stamina to last.
Ok understood, Justin. And I agree. I was just wondering what happened when you mentioned you stuffed it too hard. I hope things have recovered since then.
Actually I still check my panel once a day or two, to collect any new frequent long tail keywords that pop up for my sites and then work them into the posts when possible.
I just looked up my local niches also. Hotels in the Grand Haven niche, broad match was $1.78 and exact match was $.72.
Grand Haven real estate wasn’t much better.
There is only one car dealer in town so that won’t work.
Not Good!
I will make a Vlog just on CPC to explain a few things.
Another great video Vic. Would you please put a video together sometime on SEO Elite?
Thanks,
Fred
I will
Good job on explaining the reasoning behind local niches. I really would like to hear more about diversifying. Although I am not there yet I would like to get an idea of how you approach this, something can keep in the back of my mind as I am working on adsense.
I will make some post dedicated to local niches and the why.
Vic,
Someone may have flagged your address as spam. It showed up as spam for my gmail account. It wasn’t earlier
WOW Great!!! Thanks for the heads up. I will see what I can do to fix that.
It looks like both BU and BZ’s IP’s are on a spammer/malware list. Our most recent firewall update at work blocks them both.
Thanks Frank I will work on getting this resolved.
Hey Frank can you find out what list your company uses to get unlisted because I can not find where we are listed.
http://mxtoolbox.com/blacklist.....54.205.210
We use Symantec on the desktops but there may be something else with the filtering at the server/firewall level. I’ll inquire with the net admin and see what I can find out.
It looks like whatever it was turned out to be temporary since it’s working again today. Perhaps it was the DNS thing you mentioned and maybe our software just came back with the blocked message by default.
Thanks for the update Frank I hope it was just that and not that we got placed on some list.
thanks
Hey Vic,still having occasional problems loading your site. Might be to do with what Frank mentioned.
We just found a problem with the host entry so this should get resolved in the next 48 hours when it gets fully propagated.

Love that info on Adsense you have given. The CTR on my site kinda sucks. I may have to change it to darker theme. Do you recommend any theme like this or the source where SEO and adsense friendly dark theme can be taken up.
Hi Vic,
Do you know if there’s a way to make Adsense recognize my IP address so that when I visit one of my own blogs (for instance to reply to a comment), it doesn’t count as a impression?
Thanks in advance,
Todd
Buddy I could not find a setting to do that but you could do this with OpenAds the important thing is to remember every time your ip changes to change it for the new one.
There was a Firefox plugin around that would do this but I can’t find it right off. You could, of course, use standard AdBlocking techniques but that would disable it for all sites.
Thanks Vic,
I still only have two sites with Adsense on them. But I think I’m starting to get the hang of how to get clicks … so, as I develop more sites, it might be time to look into open ads.
Frank … I appreciate the tip about the firefox plugin. I’ll do some investigating to see if I can track it down. And duh, I hadn’t even considered the obvious solution of just turning on an adblocker … which wouldn’t really make a big difference for me, I’m one of those “bad” visitors who very rarely clicks on ads anyway.
Todd
Todd try to start suing OpenAds as quick as possible this will become just a valuable tool in your arsenal a true must especially with Adsense.
Good Luck Buddy awesome to know you are getting Adsense by the tail this is one of the toughest things for new peeps to figure out but once you get it man the money is so easy
Hi Vic,
I got open ads installed … was pretty straight forward. I don’t really have time tonight to go through the tutorial, but hopefully sometime tomorrow, I’ll be serving up my own ads.
Thanks … appreciate the advice.
Todd
Thanks for the info!
I tried to sign up for AdSense when I was first looking to install ads on my site. Since I require a P.O.Box on my address or my mail doesn’t get delivered, Google rejected my application. I contacted them about the situation and they pretty much replied, that’s the way it is. Its a real shame they don’t offer the option of payments by PayPal.
Hey Vic,
I recently tested out putting a 300×250 adsense ad in the “Related Posts” section of each post and was wondering if you have anymore information on whether or not it’s acceptable via Google’s TOS?
Thanks!
Sal
Hey there Vic,
Really nice detailed post! Just have a quick question for you since I’m fairly new to this. You’ve mentioned in this video and a few others that you don’t even throw the Adsense up on the website until it’s a few months old.
Does this avoid your websites from ever being “sandboxed” by Google? Also if I do put the code in from day 1 what will happen?
Any advice on why you don’t drop it in for 2 months or so and also when the best time to drop the Adsense code in would be greatly appreciated.
Nice work,
Samuel Z
