I Love Bans!!!
By Vic on Mar 25, 2008 in Monetization
I have totally fallen in love with BANS. It has become one of my best money makers and if things keep going the way they are in the next month or so it will become my best monthly money maker. If you are not using BANS yet you are losing tons of money.

Just a note to anyone using BANS. Digital items will be banned from eBay starting 31st March 2008.This affects anyone selling items delivered digitally.This can include:
* eBooks
* Audio/mp3
* Digital Videos
* Websites
* Domain Names
* Graphic Design Services
* Photo Services
* And any other service delivered electronically.
So watch what niches you are choosing and see what happens to digital products. Especially those products that are being sold from an overseas market.
Thanks Denise I am one of those that will be affected I have some parked domains that deal with blogging and have blogging related stuff from Ebayt I guess I better start finding another viable product.
Yet another reason why I’m glad I no longer sell on eBay. At least they’re likely to have a long, lingering, death that will insure some BANS profits for a while.
Hi Vic,
I just recently purchased BANS and haven’t actually set up a BANS site yet, but I’ll be working on that later on today.
I have a niche site that I’ve been working Amazon sales on. It just hit the first page in SERPs after being sandboxed for a few months and I’ve made 4 sales within the past week.
I’ve got a question, and hopefully it’s not too stupid…From what I gather from your vlogs, it seems that commissions would be better with eBay. Would you recommend switching this site to BANS?
I have worked for years niche sites with Amazon as you may know there is also a script like BANS for Amazon not only have I found the conversion to be obscene compared to what I had with Amazon but I have made on a 1 to 10 ratio more commissions per sale vs Amazon. So yes no doubt change it to BANS just make sure you keep the url structure so you do not lose the work you have done.
Hi Vic,
First, you are funny. LOL.
Okay, I’m obsessed with BANS too and I agree that by far it is about the easiest way for me to make some decent money, coming from the region where I am living where most afilliate programs do not want us.
I need your advise. One of my sites does not list any products even though there are more than a thousand items listed under that product in eBay. I think you too would have seen pages that says, “there are no products at present, please bookmark this page blah, blah, blah..”
Now, is it advisable to insert some products from Amazon into these pages temporalily till eBay products are available? I mean, when people comes to the page and finds nothing, they would just leave wouldn’t they? Rather than them leaving empty handed, would it be better to try divert their attention to Amazon?
Thanks!
Costa this is a really goos question tell you what buddy I will add it to tomorrows comment vlog post cause I want to go deeper into the explanation.
I’m having this problem too. I end up choosing a category which is broader.
Vic,
Great video man. I completely agree about BANS. I am curious how much template tweaking (in terms of the graphics / colors) you do for each site.
Also, for BANS keywords, what is your rule of thumb? I am focusing on keywords that have at least 30 searches per day and less than 100,000 competing pages. I have had some pretty good success so far, but no where near the success I’m sure you’re having and many people on the BANS forum.
Your blog is great man, keep it up.
Regards,
Chris
Chris dude geez I swear you guys are making this questions that are just so hard to answer in a simple comment form. SO I promise it is added to tomorrows comment vlog post.
eBay sniping was always fun and nerve wracking to watch as a seller. I’d have an expensive item stuck at like $10 all week and then it would jump to $150 in the final minute. In most cases there would be at least two or three snipers and it didn’t really impact what I made.
It is so funny to see like you said go from a few dollars and after a refresh be in 500 LMAO
bidrobot.com for ebay.
“Individual keywords for individual pages.” I’ve got way too many product categories to write for each page.
I put content on the home page, but I’m still working on the other pages. I BMD‘d the home page and now I’m starting to run the category pages.
I probably need to narrow something down. But it’s really new, should I just keep working and be patient or trim things down.
I want to talk a bit more about actual building of your BANS sites so tomorrow I will add to the comment vlog post this topic I think mit is important for you folks.
I was shocked the amount of new registers I get as well. I get nearly as much from sign ups as I do products. I thought everyone had an eBay account by now.
I think people who are online a lot have a skewed view of where normal people are. Like my Mum and my brother. Neither of them have eBay accounts. I should go sign them up right now.
Hey Vic,
I’ve heard about BANS a long time ago but I haven’t got around to using it yet. Since you are making such a strong case for it, I will give it a try (after all, it only sounds reasonable that eBay will convert). However, I have a question: is the BANS script updated with what’s going on between CJ and eBay? I mean their separation, of course. I suppose changes need to be made in the script. Did they make these changes? Thanks in advance.
Vic, Is there a good site to use to determine whether a preowned URL has authority with google? Or are you just looking at the number of links that come back on a google search?
Guys how do you know how many ‘impressions’ is reported for each BANS site of yours? I just went into my CJ dashboard after 2 weeks of setting up a few and I know there’s traffic but nothing is reported for all the sites.
I just want to understand this - I got an affiliate welcome email from eBay after accepting their offer through CJ. After that, all I need to do is stick the PID for each site into the BANS setup accordingly yes?
Thanks guys!
Well apparently if you only have ebay listings on your site, no impressions will be recorded in CJ, just clicks.
You have got me turned onto BANS, I am planning on start my first ban site in the next week. Thanks for telling people what no one else will.
