BANS Domains Tips and Tricks

by Vic on December 17, 2007

I just started to use BANS about a month ago and I just love it. A tool you have to have if you are looking to really to live form the net. The biggest commodity there is for the netrepernuer today is a solid domain portfolio. I know we have all being there trying to find the right domain name and it is just impossible because they all seem to be registered. Well because of need after the Bu.bulicio.us sandbox debacle I started doing research on pre-owned domains. For a while there I went on a domain buying frenzy both new to age them and pre-owned to develop but suddenly I found myself buying more domains than I could actually developed. After looking at all the options by far the best fast set and forget way to monetize was BANS.

I am not going to explain what BANS is, there are way to many post on that, when in reality all you have to do is just click on the banner inside this post and you can go straight to the source. What I want to focus is on what ways you can best benefit from BANS.

If you have a domain that you just do not have time to develop instead of using a parking service you can setup a BANS site. The key with BANS is the way it is promoted, which I will be posting in tonights FEED.

Now besides how you promote it the second most important thing is how do you make a BANS site different than another BANS site promoting exactly the same categories. Remember if your site is identical to another site both sites will get hit with the duplicate content filter. So it is crucial you make your BANS site as different as possible with the limitation that you will have exactly the same products another BANS site will have.

Focus on one specific product to write your content for that page. You better write the best keyword focus content of your life and buy a domain with that product name inside the domain. Try to work a niche that is not already BANS heavy. In other words do a Google search for a product, now look at that the first three pages and see how many BANS sites are there. If none perfect if there are some look at the PR if it is below 3 you can compete.

Now if you are using BANS to park domains it is a different concept. Example I buy a domain I like but do not have time to develop. Well I chose a category that might be close to the domains name I do some promotion and then I just leave it alone. Now this is the concept. Lets say on a yearly avg I am making a dollar a day from that parked domain. That would be $365.00 now I pay my domains fees let’s say $9.99 I just had a profit for that domain for the year of $355.01. Now let’s take me for example I currently own 178 domains I had most parked with a parking service sometimes not making one cent. Now lets say I decide to age most of these domains since these where from the domain buying frenzy I went on. Now I make 100 of those domains into BANS sites again if they only make a dollar a day I am looking at a profit of $35,501.00. Now this is not get rich money with out a doubt. But it would sincerely help you as a second income.

Again folks this is just another tool to make money. One of the biggest things in the online money making world is to have multiple sources of income. Especially if they all fall inside your daily workload. You have nothing to lose. The important thing with BANS as with other money making opportunities is not to create false expectations. I know for a fact that there is a huge base of BANS users that even though they cover there domain fees they do not make any money to really matter. The main reason as in most internet business failures they just do not know how to get traffic. In tonights feed there will be a FEED only post explaining how to promote BANS in an also set and forget mode.

Thanks for posting about this Vic, I appreciate it.

So my main question from your post I have is this:

Do you only do this on domains you buy that are pre-owned and like a PR2 or 3? Or can you just buy a bunch of domain names that are new, park them and hope for the best? Or a mixture?

Mike I would mix it in a bit remember. If you find just a sweet new domain but do not want to go with the headache of sandbox then do like me buy it and setup a BANS site till it is aged and than develop it.

Now if you can find a few PR3 domains I would also setup BANS sites not with these domains you certainly would get more profit.

Then there is the buy just for BANS domains. Specific Keywords you will be building your BANS site around remember one of the huge benefits of BANS is the unlimited licenses. For this I would buy .info domains you can get them for $1.99 and once in a while they put them at .99 when they do this I used to buy 300 or so.

I hope this explains it if not ask away.

Vic, thanks for the intro to BANS. I've been using WhyPark with about 30 domains for a couple months and experimenting with one on Domain Embarking. So far I have a couple sites with older domain names that earn around $1 a day with WhyPark, but the newer domains are not doing a thing even though some of them are are pretty well indexed. Have you tried either of these?

Lee I used to use Domain Embarking after I tried the Domain page from the ebook. No doubt fare better from Domain Embarking but after by mistake I came upon BANS it was just way better. Those new domains you might just need to promote a bit different. It will also depend alot on the keywords I am finishing a post on that. And tonight I will make a post on promoting BANS sites and this would also apply to Domain Embarking and the other services.

I have 3 BANS sites and a dollar a day is NOT EASY unless you promote them. Two of my sites I do nothing with at all and they get virtually no traffic. The third I have made decent money from time to time but I work on promoting it a little.

Bruce the reason I gave the dollar a day is what on AVG I am doing with my 30 BANS right now I am trying to get up more cause parking services just do not work as well. The key is the promoting. BANS has no ping action so here you either promote or it will not work well. But tonight I will post in my feed how I do it.

    Vic,

Can you really expect to make $1.00 a day off of these sites? If so, that is pretty good.

Fred this is my avg with 30 domains so some sites have made $15 one day and another 0 that same day but if add all my income from Ebay and divided I am actually making $1.47 a site a day. Again this will not make your world turn on fire but I really do not do anything with this sites. I do not know how Bruce promotes his BANS sites. But after tonights feed post he might tell us if he uses my technique or another.

Well Vic — I'm convinced to give BANS a whirl. I just bought the package (from your ad, of course) and I'll read over the manual in the morning. I'd do it tonight, but since I slept less than three hours last night I need to get to bed.

I think I have some good product based domains to get started with. They are getting some traffic but not doing much as far as Adsense clicks on the WhyPark system. I'll be anxious to hear more about your promotion scheme when I get up tomorrow.

You'll also see the $1.89, $18.23 or $9.50 days. They all add up to money earned with little work beyond the technical site setup.

    Hey Robert,

In my post I just sticked to my results I would love to have one mention if they have had better results. In my case shoot if I could avg just one dollar per domain a day It is just sweet for a domain htat normally would be just collecting dust.

    Gotta love BANS

Great post and you are right, it's all about making money with BANS.

To this point I have only put BANS on sites but have not yet installed BANS within an existing site template.

Well today is the day I learn just how to do that so I can add it to a few of my existing blogs.
