"How a Noob Uses Adsense on the Wrong Niche and Makes No Money"

Damn, I want to use that for a post title. :-)

Except... I want to change it to "I'm a Noob and I make no Money with AdSense" (but I do). LOL

Wow that was a really long conversation. Can't believe I even read it all. Seems like you guys made up which is nice... but I think everyone here realizes Vic was right the whole time. Not that Tay was horribly wrong, just that Vic was horribly correct :)

That was a classic. The "converstion" betwen you and Tay, I mean Classic in a sense on how everytime you manage to fuck people until they wake up to their senses. LOL! I remember I was one of those.

Nice going.

I guess that is really a personal choice. If you get a trackback it should offset the lost of PR. In my case I only link to a page for a specific reason not just to show a list of post.

Hey Grizz thanks for the advice. The PS ad was only on ONE of the ad blocks on the same post. The other ad blocks on that particular post page and everywhere else sitewide were fine (I normally use 2 blocks per post page) that's why I was curious. I've since removed it and everything else looks fine. I'm not exactly sure what happened except to suspect everything's just new. I'll wait it out a few days and try and see if I get the same problem, otherwise just stick with one ad block.

YC.. The public service ad only appears if there aren't any relevant ads or Google thinks the post is spam (were you keyword stuffing?). If all the ad blocks turn public service then you have just become blacklisted. Was the PS ad only on one post or site wide? Either way you should pull the adsense off, post new quality articles, wait at least a week and then put adsense back on. You should get normal ads again - if not I hate to tell you but you have been flagged as a spam site and you are done with adsense on that site. (you can try asking for a manual review but this is a long shot).

There are instances where the adsense bot can not figure out your content because of poorly defined keywords which is usual with new sites when the owner is unaware of SEO but if the other ad blocks showed relevant ads to your content then this is likely not the case.

Vic now that you mentioned this I noticed it and meant to ask you guys here but forgot in the midst of all the work - if I had ONE post where all the Adsense ads were showing well except a 300x250 block which for reasons unknown had the famous Clinton/Bush foundation public ad - was wondering how could this be and thought maybe the post was still new (even tho' the other ad blocks on the same post were fine). So I waited and checked the next day. Boom, still public ad. Removed it. The rest of the ad blocks were still fine. Is it in line with what you just said and I should wait till the post ages a little and try again?
