I agree with your statement about Hyundai. Their biggest challenge right now is public perspective. The quality of their products is and has been great for the last 4 or 5 years. And with the way things are going, I'd be surprised if things don't keep getting better for them.
Most of what you said rings true for Canadians as well.
I really believe they will be the number one manufacturer in the near future.
