I had my own freeware and started to use file directories. I got a lot more downloads and visits. This way you have your content shown on more sites BUT the file is always on your site. If you make a change, people will download the updated version if the file name if same. Check into creating a PAD file and see if a theme is possible. For item 3, you can use 1 Cool File to further your reach.
