Ahha! Exactly what I was looking for :)

I was one of those silly people working the links for days at a time. Heck, I was submitting individual posts via BMD. Now that I’m onto eBay affiliate sites, I’ve been able to make 2-3 .info sites per week. Once I get my CJ check, that should jump to one site per day :)

    Thanks Vic!

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 01:47 (Reply)

Trust me you are not alone many folks where like this that is why I did this small video I hope I explained it right and it makes it easier for all you folks in what we do it is all about speed and efficiency

  2. DayJobNuker on 06.04.2008 at 01:30 (Reply)

I’m on the D-list and I will approve a comment if it looks like the person read the post and is making an intelligent comment.

But I delete many comments where it is clear the person never read a damn thing and is just spamming my site with garbage. It’s insulting to me when it looks like a comment is spam and I will never approve it.

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 01:49 (Reply)

I was thinking of making an Anchored D-list so folks know these sites you can anchor the comment and will not get Askimet just because of the anchor. I tried to be clear on leaving good comments I find it amazing how many times I see these lazy fucks trying to leave here comments with shit in the anchor like “free pussy video” and the comment says “Wow great post” I read this shit and just say WTF?

  3. Marjorie on 06.04.2008 at 02:02 (Reply)

Thanks Vic! This post cleared up a lot. Seems I had one or two small pieces missing about what should happen a few months down the road.

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 02:16 (Reply)

This is why I did it because it is crucial that we do not get stuck and spend way to much time on one site we need to keep building.

  4. YC on 06.04.2008 at 02:05 (Reply)

Vic, about the one URL per account in BMD runs.
You mean one site or really just one link?

Each time I go on a run (legit or otherwise), I’m doing it for one site. So if I have 3 links that I want to submit for the site, I do it with one account and do it in one run, and hide them (for legit).

So are you saying that I should really submit each one of the 3 links in separate runs and different accounts? (e.g. 3 runs in total)

I don’t want to overthink this but shit whenver you mention getting banned … wtf lol ;)

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 02:17 (Reply)

If your new site has 3 links you will work all 3 link on the new account fo scuttles and for legit sites you will also do all 3 but will include about 15 more links to hide your 3 real links. I hope this cleared it up if you are still confuse let me know ;)

      1. YC on 06.04.2008 at 02:26 (Reply)

Ok got it Vic, I was doing it right thanks man ;)

      2. Elliott on 06.04.2008 at 02:37 (Reply)

        Vic,

When you submit these 15 or so links with your own built in, should you submit all 15 on one run, or only do 3 to 5 links per run to get them all in?

        1. YC on 06.04.2008 at 04:31 (Reply)

You can do it in one run, Elliot. As long as you hide them to make it less obvious.

        2. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 04:37 (Reply)

Just make sure you hide hem well and if you will do another run right after change the extra links to others to hide your links once again

        3. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 12:54 (Reply)

Ideally every time you make a new account you want to submit every url you own with scuttle and with legit sites also but hidden in fresh links to hide yours the problem is once you keep growing imagine how big your runs would be and how time consuming it becomes hiding your links so the way I tell you folks is the way I do it to get it done as quick as possible to get started getting links.

  5. James on 06.04.2008 at 02:56 (Reply)

Vic thanks you just hit the nail on the head.
You just cleaned up a lot of my questions that i had. Followed the rule of: KISS -
    Keeping It Simple Stupid :)

One thing: say this is a brand new domain, will this set of any alarms at google/yahoo that you just scored all these links from day1? other then maybe putting you in the box? I know most links will take awhile to come through.

    Yours truly,
    Paranoid Over thinker :P

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 04:38 (Reply)

Since you will be working will be long tails it should not matter if you are building a BANS site even less and if you are working an Adsense niche just do not put Adsense on it till like 60 days later.

  6. Lola on 06.04.2008 at 05:09 (Reply)

    Vic:
A little bit off topic here. I LOVE your site, and you’ve been very helpful to me. I’m so happy to have found you.
I also started reading to Courtney and Grizzly and I know you approve of them.
But I found another site that talks about making niche sites and so on. I just want to know if it’s, let’s say… ‘legit’? I mean, what do you think of it? I’m talking about Andy Beard’s site.

Thanks for your help and opinion. :)
    Lola
    (please excuse my English)

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 05:23 (Reply)

Andy is a really nice and cool guy and he is really technical he also does great changes to wordpress stuff so yes I more then approve ;)

Vic, You say “buy a domain and set up a ban site” my question is do you buy a Hosting package for each domain, or is there are better and cheaper way.

    Chad

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 06:37 (Reply)

Get a reseller account from Host Gator and host unlimited domains click on the banner top right of this site and put the keyword wordpress you will get a huge discount get the Aluminum

        Thanks vic

  9. Jeffrey D on 06.04.2008 at 05:57 (Reply)

Vic, I’ll help you out in answering some questions.

Chad, you buy reseller so you can host diff sites on one account. I also have a reseller, the cheapest one with hostgator. Hosted with them for a year now with no prob.

The only prob for me is being accepted to ebay. Where can I contact them by the way? Is that the form on contact us page? They haven’t replied to me yet I mailed them i guess 10 times today. lol.

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 12:57 (Reply)

Tnx and keep us updated on Ebay hopefully it will get resolved.

      1. Jeffrey D on 06.04.2008 at 22:50 (Reply)

It seems like they are busy with the migration. My friend that is an ebay affiliate forgot his password and wants to claim them but ebay not responding.

  10. Tuppy Glossop on 06.04.2008 at 11:32 (Reply)

Vic, this video was a great guide to handling small sites in the start-up phase. But I’m also curious to learn more about how to handle BMD once I get more established, with bigger sites that I’d like to bookmark.

I’ve been very inspired by your blog recently and plan to move forward with a combination of BANS, affiliate, and adsense sites. As per the models you & Court teach, they’re likely to be pretty small sites, so this video about BMD will work great.

But I have a couple of larger sites that exist already, with a small but steady adsense income that I’d like to increase. I also have some quite large newer sites that are growing gradually via affiliate data feeds. These sites range in size from 30 pages to several hundred.

And my first BANS site has turned out to be pretty large too, despite being very tightly focused. It’s roughly comparable in size to your paintball site I’d say; there are around 45 first-level categories, mostly manufacturer names plus a few product styles.

What approach should I take in using BMD with larger sites? Break them into smaller slices, and work the model you describe here? Or can I go with much larger BMD runs (disguising the links when I bookmark at legit services, or course).

How do you handle BMD runs for your larger and more established sites? When you create new bookmarking accounts are you still bookmarking sites from several months ago, or are those largely hands-off by now?

Sorry if this question rambled a little … you’re not the only one with ADD around here ;-)

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 12:59 (Reply)

Geezzzzz Tuppy LMAO ok I will answer in the next comment reaction.

  11. Fred @ Newest on the Net on 06.04.2008 at 11:59 (Reply)

Excellent video Vic. I know that this short video did a lot to clear things up for people. I think that this one video might do more to help people than a lot of other ones. I know that I spend too much time on one site.

Now, enough ass kissing. Let me pick your brain.

I know that this has been discussed several times on your blog, but you mentioned about using long tail keywords for your BANS sites. What criteria are you using for choosing the keywords for you individual BANS pages? For example and generally speaking, are you finding that you can rank well for terms that only have 5,000 competing pages or are you setting your sites higher or lower? I would love a general guideline of criteria to use to properly choose the keyword pages in BANS.

    As always, thank you,
    Fred

Ill take this one on the next comment reaction ;)

  12. Mel on 06.04.2008 at 12:15 (Reply)

Vic, would it be true that with each new user account you create for skuttle or legit bookmarking site, is it true that you would want to bookmark all your URLs that you want additional links for or would you bookmark only the site-URL that you are currently working on? Assuming you hide your URLs in the legit ones.

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 13:02 (Reply)

Mell it is a question of time but let’s do this on the next comment reaction I will explain.

  13. Nick on 06.04.2008 at 12:24 (Reply)

    Vic,

A good detailed video that confirmed what I’m doing is right!
One question - when you save a BMD rune, when you open a new account a couple of weeks down the line, would you copy and paste the other files and URL’s that you have? Meaning that your lists is building and building every week or so, and if you do, do you randomise this?

    1. Vic on 06.04.2008 at 13:04 (Reply)

I have on list that has every url I own that i have bookmarked. But I also have files with runs so down the line I mix and match but in my case I have multiple computers running BMD so I sometimes put one pc to do a scuttle run with that list it usually takes days to finish.

  14. Jason on 06.04.2008 at 14:45 (Reply)

I would use BANS but eBay hates where I live (seriously lol… = instant rejection).

Your bit about setting up websites productively was bang on, I’ll try and get some affiliate websites created this week. Will be waiting for the MMO Blog vid too (any chance of a rant or two? LOL)

Simonne awsome what i will do is make a video post just about this and have all you great folks in the comments tell me what sites you will want listed ;)

    Vic,
Thanks for hammering this stuff in. I know it may seem repetitious to you because you have been doing it daily, but for many of us we need this constant refresher until it becomes automatic. Plus you always hit on some small detail that I do not recall hearing before.

I would really be interested in how you determine a keyword to pick. I assume that it differs depending on whether you are making a BANS site or an Adsense site.

    1. Vic on 07.04.2008 at 03:18 (Reply)

I will be making a specific keyword vid I need to.

You’re putting out such good info I am going to have to go to my office on a the weekend and use the T1 to listen to catch up on your videos. I only have wireless card, so you buffer every 10 secs. very frustrating when trying to listen to you..

If you put together a dlist I found a PR5 that I use occationally for one of my niches.

    Hello,

Great video very informative and inspiring at the same time.

I was wondering if someone could help me understand a few things, or at least let me know what I have understood wrong…I am a noob…

Ok, a BANS site is a Niche Store through ebay that you need to pay the $97 to get hooked up…right?

An affiliate site is one where it is optimized for, lets say, one or two CJ products?

Ok an adsense site, i get…

One more thing, if I undertsood the above correctly, is a BANS site a better money maker than a affilliate one? Or is it just clearly a matter of traffic?

I would really apreciate some pointers. Thank yu in advance

    Vic,

Can you talk about Article Submitter? I got the Platinum version and it just isn’t working out for me. The list of article directories that do offer HTML don’t provide Autosubmit (defeats the purpose). And the one article directory that I know that does allow HTML links is goarticles.com, which I could not find in Article Submitter’s listing… I even updated the database.

Am I completely not understanding this tool correctly?

    1. Vic on 07.04.2008 at 03:21 (Reply)

mmm I really do not know what is happening with your install cuz it works great with me. Could you open a support ticket with Brad and see it could be software related. Let me know ;)

    Hi Vic,

I’m in the same boat as Tubby Glossop on about 3 of my BANS sites. I have at least 15 urls for those sites although the niche is quite targeted.

Also, on a side note I’d like to say THANKS a bunch for emphasizing how sick BANS conversions are. Per your advice I decided to give BANS a try, and it’s only been a week since I’ve set up my first BANS sites and I’ve already made back the money I’ve invested in buying it! Thank you

    1. Vic on 07.04.2008 at 03:21 (Reply)

I wished I could convey to everybody how well BANS worked right not only converts but produces money day in and day out. My pleasure and keep building them siites.

Holy Crap Vic - slow down on the RSS subs.

This keeps up and I’m gonna have to call you an A-Lister!!! (Ok how the hell do I do the little yellow “winky” dude?) :-) (that one I know)

    1. Vinny Lingo on 07.04.2008 at 15:53 (Reply)

RSS subs? Do you still do posts that only your RSS subscribers can see, Vic? I saw you make mention of doing that back in some old posts while I was catching up on what I missed before I got here. But I’ve been subscribed to your RSS feed for a while and don’t see anything that’s not posted here.

  23. Mirjam on 07.04.2008 at 20:32 (Reply)

at the risk of being a complete dumbass… I have a question about the ebay affiliate id. I went to CJ and tried to sign up for the ebay aff. program but they rejected me instantly. however, when going to ebay and signing up for their affiliate program straight away, I did get accepted without a problem.

Is this the same id needed for making BANS sites, and if so, I have a huge problem locating my actual affiliate ID from ebay when I signed up directly for their aff network. when signing up through ebay site, it says they pay directly, so maybe they only pay if you get people to sell on ebay?

I would really like to give the BANS a try but am hesitant to pay for BANS while I am not sure if I have signed up for ebay the right way…

    1. Vic on 07.04.2008 at 20:38 (Reply)

Do not worry about looking like a dumbass many folks still do not know about the Ebay story leaving CJ I do not think they spread the word good enough.

If you got your id from here http://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com you are good to go. BANS used to work with CJ but the new version has already changed to the new EPN so all you need is to get your id from http://www.ebaypartnernetwork.com you are good to go all you need now is BANS.

      1. Mirjam on 07.04.2008 at 21:01 (Reply)

geez Vic, thanks for that super fast reply! One thing though, I have been looking and looking, but can´t find which ID to use (I did sign up through ebaypartnernetwork.com and got accepted there) so I went to their discussion board and already posted a question about it, and reading other questions members posted.

They mention something about creating a different campaing ID every time, but I was under the impression you only had to put in 1 ID?

ps, I´d rather look like a dumbass and get working with results than fear looking like one, freeze and don´t get anywhere ;)

        1. YC on 07.04.2008 at 23:26 (Reply)

Mirjam, each time you create a new BANS store, you will need to enter your ebay affiliate ID. This is where I guess those who do not own BANS yet will be wondering where they get the ID because it is only clearly explained in their manual. What you need to do will be to create a separate campaign in your eBay affiliate account for each store, and then input the campaign ID into the setup for the specific BANS store. That is it. ;)

This is also why dumbasses like Vic who created a thousand stores have some work to do when eBay migrated LOL ;)

But no worries, it’s really simple actually.

  24. Henry on 10.04.2008 at 17:31 (Reply)

Hi Vic, first of all let me thank you for putting together this fantastic site.

    OK, I have two questions:

    1) Domains: What’s your take on subdomains. Would you go for something like
    “widgets.com” and the “shower.widgets.com”, “catstheme.widgets.com”, etc.
Therefore we can use one domain for several subs.

    2) How much space do you give to each of the BANS reseller accounts/domains? 50
    meg is enough?

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

    Henry

    1. Vic on 10.04.2008 at 19:14 (Reply)

If you are dead as broke then it is what it is so if you must use subdomains but G looks at new subdomains fishy my recommendation look at the last 5 comment reactions video I fully talk about that in one of them sorry I need to make a better system to remember what is on each.

I make my pkg for BANS to start with 15mb of space and 100mb of traffic this serves also as a reminder of the sites because when you get to 70% of traffic you will be sent an email this way you know when it was indexed and it is already getting traffic.

  25. Henry on 10.04.2008 at 19:42 (Reply)

Thanks Vic, got your point. I was more thinking in something like about.com, but I understand what you mean (I think). Targeted is Targeted.

Thanks also for the pkg info. Just opened a reseller account through your link.

    Best,

    Henry

  26. who’s this Justin that you keep referring to?

and whats the url to his post about targeting keywords?

I dislike videos cause I can read 4x faster than you speak and coz i can’t search for stuff - but i understand why you’re doing it this way. thanks for all the info.
