For reasons that just drive me crazy and I really do not understand people seem to think that Blogging Zoom is about blogging. Blogging Zoom not about blogging, BZ is a tool for bloggers to get to compete in SERPS with the big boys. BZ is a cooperative effort where you have an opportunity to compete head to head in SERPS using BZ as a bridge for organic traffic and at the same time be in a place where you might have an opportunity down the line to have burst traffic also.
Currently the blogs that are having the best benefit from Blogging Zoom are does that have nothing to do with blogging, juts as Mike from A Mike Life or Jason from Inner88 but yet I read all the time on some other peoples sites how they have not submitted to Blogging Zoom because their blogs are not about blogging, this just drives me insane knowing that this are exactly the sites Blogging Zoom was designed for.
Folks Blogging Zoom is designed as a bridge for Google and your Blog. Now if you write about blogging you will benefit the least from Blogging Zoom because their not enough people searching for that material in Google but if you are writing about how to fix your plumbing it turns out that every month their are over 2 million searches for plumbing. Now this niche is extremely competitive so if you are new to the niche it will take you some time to climb the SERPS in the meanwhile you will use BZ as a bridge to compete on those keywords you would not be able to compete with your blog.
So let’s say right now you started your local niche blog. I would submit every article I write to Blogging Zoom but I will be very selective on what Keywords I will focus on. So lets say am writing about my local niche market in Miami but I am really working a famous strip in Miami called “North Miami Avenue” which has a lot of local movement clubs, restaurants etc. Now I know that for that keyword I will be able to compete but for the keyword “Miami” I am just fucked well this is where I would focus my submission in BZ.
Lets see how this would work.
POST:
Title : North Miami Avenue just fun
North Miami Avenue is one of the coolest places in Miami there is this and that and blah blah blh blah etc etc
Blogging Zoom Submission:
Title: Miami A Place To Visit
Miami is one of the greatest places to visit. Miami has a great strip called North Miami Avenue. This article I wrote has to do not only with North Miami Avenue but you will also have other great places in Miami to read about. Travel to Miami and see what I am talking about until you fly to Miami come and get a full heads up on Miami and North Miami Avenue. Now please click on the link above and come visit my site to get the complete story on North Miami Avenue and remember if you liked my article make sure you Zoom me.
Now notice how my post was all about what I wanted to write about. My Blogging Zoom submission is all about keywords people will be searching that I want to compete for. So I will make my whole submission SEO focused in keywords I know I can not compete but will try to use Blogging Zoom as bridge to get traffic I would never have a chance in hell to get.
Now let’s say you are a blogger about blogging buddy your best bet is to start submitting other bloggers work that have nothing to do about blogging. The readers you want Blogging Zoom to have is the blogging challenged the guy you ask what is wordpress and he says it is a printing machine, this is the guy you want to have a chance to get to have him visit your blog but right now it is like 200 Jehovah Witness visiting each other trying to convert each other to the same religion you already belong to. I apologize to any Jehovah Witness reading this my intention is not to make fun of your religion but everybody knows that Jehovah Witness do door to door visits.
Again when I have time I go on my new blog run and try to find blogs out there that have nothing to do with blogging I submit their articles. If you are a blogger about bogging and you are not doing this you are not helping yourself.
Here comes the kicker. People the more bloggers from different subjects submit articles the better is for you. Do not worry about your fellow blogger as competition worry about the other one million Joomla sites. The more content Blogging Zoom has the more keyword combinations we get authority in. Again if you have a niche blog and you are not submitting every article you are missing the whole idea on BZ just make sure you focus your keywords different. Again your submission to Blogging Zoom does not have to have the same title you may change it around to fit your SEO needs better neither Court or me will frown for that actually we will see it as smart SEO.
Submit all your articles! Let me repeat submit all your articles! Just make sure you make a different blurp then your site, you want to get a second shot for the article if you do not get organic traffic from one side you will get it from the other, you will cover multiple keywords with the same post just in two different places one on your blog and the other in BZ.

Vic, I have been reading this blog with a great deal of interest. I love the information you are giving out.
I have tried submitting posts from a niche blog on Blogging Zoom but there was no interest. When I submit posts from my "Pat B. Doyle" blog, I get lots of zooms, and most of my submissions went hot. But when I submitted a post from my Feng Shui blog, there was little interest in it.
It seems that mostly "make money online" people are reading Blogging Zoom. I don't think they are interested in other subjects.
Pat this is exactly why most people that have niche sites think but the stats that me and Court see say completely the opposite. The problem is you guys only get to see the Zooms please folks stop considering your post a success or not by the amount of Zooms and I will give you an example.
The last 24 hours the following submission has had 176 unique hits http://bloggingzoom.com/VideoGames/X_Marks_The_Sp… now this submission only has had 17 Zooms but yet for the life of this submission it has received over 5k unique hits from Google but yet it is only getting about about 15% CVR because most people that have found the submission think that the BZ submission is everything and they either go to the front page of BZ or click out. The writer did not ask or tell people to go to his site to read the rest of the post. Most of us think that everybody knows what a Digg style site is when in reality many people do not it is crucial to ask your readers to visit your site and tell them you have more information.
Now your Feng Shui submissions has two problems http://bloggingzoom.com/Health_Fitness/How_We_Can… one that you copy paste the same info on your blog so we both got the duplicate content filter applied and number two it is not key word focused now what we can do if you authorize me I can edit your submission to make it keyword focus and you will see how it starts getting organic traffic from Google.
Folks it is crucial you do not copy paste your submission and you write original content that is keyword focused this will determine if you get serious organic traffic from Google.
Vic, thanks for your explanation – that makes sense. Yes, if you would like to edit my Feng Shui submission, you have my permission!
I would love to see how that turns out.
I will keep your advice in mind when I submit in the future.
I noticed the same thing. I wrote non blogging post on my main Blog and they have less zooms than others. Maybe because it's the holiday.
Yes, Mike from A Mike Life or Jason from Inner88 are very popular.
I have my own blog directory(1 Cool File) with many types(150+) of blogs other than blogging and I added services that you just pass the URL. But, BZ don't have that option. Vic, one thing BZ must add soon is that.
For example using my blog, I would have:
http://bloggingzoom.com/blog/http://www.mcgrath.c…
So, people viewing my blog would see all my post that were zoomed. I could add: " Submit your own post with Blogging Zoom!". the service is great but non blogging blogs must know about it.
Also, could you create a some sort of ranking showing how zoomed a blog is. It could be a total or a "%". Not the person but the blog. I could add a widget like I did with PR, Technorati or Alexa. The more zoomed the better.
Vic, email me if you want more information. I know we can do something about it.
The amount of zooms really doesn't matter for what you really want to use Bloggingzoom for. You want your submission to bloggingzoom to get a good ranking in google so people will visit your summary, then based off your summary, they'll continue on to your site.
That's true but people are still attracted by numbers. It's only human. The goal is still to get the word out about BZ and that is not just about blogging.
Eventually, SERP will bring readers thanks to BZ but we still need more non blogging blogs. You will understand later because my other reply in under moderation.
Every single post on Masked Dispatcher gets submitted. I had a good weekend for my funniest commercial of 2007 post, most to all the hits coming from Bloggingzoom! If you're not using it, you're really missing out.
The big key is to invite readers to follow the link to your actual article. Give them a keyword laden summary, but make sure they know there's an actual article for them to visit.
Desty you are right on the money, keyword focus 350 characters and ask them to come over to read your whole post and to find additional content they will like.
This is something I need to do better at…the keyword stuff in my BZ submissions.
Mike remember that at the end of the day the submission should be all about getting people to your site. Once there they can read the well organized post.
I definitely don't worry about the zooms as long as I get 5
5 makes your post published, which gets you a link back, so I can see why some people get discouraged if they are under 5.
Vic, question for you:
If a post has only 4 zoom and isn't published, does it actually "exist" out there as a searchable result from Google? Or does it need to be published first?
Mike yes it gets indexed but the pinging does not get done untill it gets to the front page this is something I am looking to maybe change the problem is untill the pinging works the submission does not get promotion or linkbacks so sometimes it does not get enough keyword authority to move up the serps.
Interesting topic. I was planning to forgo posting in BZ. Simply because there is no category for my blog theme. I generalise around self-improvement or self help and when selecting a category on BZ I feel it's more deceptive to put it under health and fitness since my blog is nothing about that. It's not about blogging and not about business but business I have put a couple of my post under.
Also I suspect that my fellow bloggers are much more interested in the theme of blogging hence blogs about blogging are more popular.
AlexK what category would you suggest I will added.
Personal Development would be an ideal category.
Alex would Self Improvement fit? This would be more generic and cover a broader spectrum.
It sure would. And your right it is a broader spectrum.
Hmm, okay I get it. Submitting my own posts to Blogging Zoom has usually done really well for me, most of them going hot and getting lots of comments etc.
I started to slack off some since I felt I needed to focus a bit more attention on reading and zooming others posts, and commenting and actually participating in the discussions.
I also started feeling like I should maybe wait just a bit to see if someone else submitted my post, since I didn't want to appear selfish. "Give to get" ya know? I'll keep working on it though. Thanks Vic!
Well, I'm a little late to the party since I've been taking some time off, but I'm trying to catch up and I feel like I definitely have to weigh in on this one.
I am NOT an expert on BZ. I've done it wrong more times than I've gotten it right, but every time I learn something new from Vic or someone else I apply it to what I already know and try to do better.
BloggingZoom works.
I don't know what Mike's numbers are (and Vic told us not to post our stats anymore so I won't be doing that), but my site went from having 1200 to 1600 hits a month before BZ to close to 30,000 unique hits in December.
And I can trace all of that traffic from BloggingZoom and from BZ users who Stumbled my articles or linked to me or otherwise sent traffic my way. And I'm barely scratching the surface of the Google traffic I should be getting! As I'm sure Vic could tell you by looking at the numbers.
Mike and I write what we want to write, what interests us, and it is a very specific niche for the most part, but we still do well on BZ.
Of course, I do still like to get a lot of Zooms because it makes me feel like people are actually reading what I'm writing even though I know that has nothing to do with it…but I can see why people get discouraged when they only get a few Zooms…
And I can see why they wouldn't want visitors to their site to think they only had four people who liked their article…
Jason, that's awesome. Now I went from about 1200 absolute uniques in November to 10,000 in December, so I didn't have quite the jump…but I also think you had more of a base of people when you started using BZ than I did…with your PR4 backlink contest, etc.
Still, my traffic seems to grow everyday, I doubled my RSS readers in December which was a big goal for me.
Both of you will keep growing you will see
Done just added Self Improvement
