    Vic Thanks for the video!

Of course I have a question. When I changed from the baby package in HostGator to a resellers account, I did an upgrade on the account.

HostGator was great at transferring all my data over for me. I could have never figured that out any time soon without losing a lot of stuff.

When I had my baby package, my new domains were logged as a subdomain under my main account, which is my local blog. Now as I am adding different packages to the resellers account in there own accounts my local niche blog is on top of the email verification from each site.
Not sure why this is doing this.

I do not want my local niche connected in any way to my other sites.

Also when HostGator did the transfer from the baby account every thing was put as it was under my local niche blog.

I would like to transfer these sites out into there own account so they are not subdomains. Is that difficult to do?

Sorry this is so long. But since you were talking about HostGator I thought I would address this stuff.

Oh by the way, my Bans sites are installing perfectly now (knock on wood).

This video came at the perfect time! I had just bought a reseller account because I did have problem with BANS this morning.

My reseller account is going now, now I'm gonna try to get two BANS working before I make my skeleton directory :)

    Thank you Vic :)

I would have loved this video when I first got the resellers pacakge. You make everything so much easier with your tutorials.n Thanks again. Have to say that Hostgator's support is the best. They really take the time to fix problems when you call.

Speaking of the resellers account, I was wondering if you know an easy and quick way to backup all your sites from either whm or cpanel?

With hundreds of domains or better it would be a disaster to loose all your work. Don't want to ever leave this to chance.

Hey bro. Thanks again for the tutorial. I bought about 50 .info and 15 aged .coms so far.

Do you only create one account in WHM for all of your domains?

I didn't want to have all my domains under one account in case one of my sites gets a lot of traffic eventually – so I've been creating a new account in WHM for every 10 domains.

Should I not do that & just stick with one account then?

I'm trying to figure out the fastest way to work yet I want to be prepared if a site happens to use up a lot of bandwidth.

Once I get another 50-500 domains…managing them is going to be a BITCH.

    Denise April 27, 2008 at 5:12 pm

    Scott,

Create one account for each domain. No subdomains. Each domain is 25 mg with 100 bandwidth.

They are all under on resellers account so not to hard to keep track of.

If you are using this one resellers account for Bans only you can set up a skeleton directory with Bans. Justin explains how to do this at his site: http://bloggingzombie.com

If you are going to be using other sites in different formats, other than Bans, Justin told me not to use the skeleton directory.

    Hope this answers your question.

Sorry if this question was answered already. I was wondering how many BANS sites should fit on that Aluminum reseller account?

I have around 300 new domains. Not all will be BANS though. Some will be blogs, other affiliate sites, and so on. Some of my existing sites might be converted to BANS or vice versa depending on testing and other factors.

I assume 100 fit fine. 200-300 BANS sites fit? I could imagine ending up with 1000 BANS sites if it works well as I always find new domains and deals on old domains and see a lot of people who have domains and have no f-ing clue.

    Vic April 28, 2008 at 4:25 pm

It really is not that much how many sites it has to do more with traffic if you get much spike traffic then it would be a problem but if you built like I built I am keeping my resellers accounts to around 200 sites but this is much a personal decision.

    Reply

    Greg C. April 28, 2008 at 5:00 pm

    Vic,
Thanks. That makes sense. I understand that traffic is the determining factor. While I wouldn't mind huge traffic ( if it's worth $$$), I only anticipate small but targeted traffic with highly motivated buyers. I know there is no way to say what resources a site will use. I was just wondering what others were doing or any general guidelines.

Web hosting is cheap anyway. I mean if I have 100s of sites making money it is no problem upgrading or setting up more hosting accounts or whatever is needed. That's a problem I would like to have ( as long as its $$$ traffic of course).

    Vic,

I know, I know, as if you haven't done enough with Mission: Impossible – but can you help out by giving some suggestions as to what criterion we should use to go about choosing our domain for the contest?

For example, with the techniques you have in mind for us, is it better to go service, product – or local niche?

Should we try and mirror the domain name or targeted niche of something we are all ready working on our own domain so that we can drive traffic to it?

Or should we go for something brand new?

Perhaps this would be a good opportunity to start our local niche sites?

I know you said that you are going to host our sites for one year…which is great, so I am thinking what do we do after? Do we take over on our own hosting space and hope for redirects to it? In that case we should try and have that domain name ready, no?

And you said that Bans is better for product – and that this is a blog, so probably product isn't the best idea.

I've just bought lots of domain names that I haven't started. I've got some for products, some for services, some all ready going in certain niches. And a dream local niche blog to start.

Just have no idea what you have in mind for us, so hoping you will stop my overthinking and give us a bit of a guide post as to what kind of blogs we are going to be building and therefore what title would be best.

    Thanks a million.

I picked up comment demon today and it's pretty cool. It finds lots of blogs. I use it in conjunction with seo quake. That way I can have a quick look at the deep pages in case there's a high pr page with comments.

Have you tried Real Link Finder? It's free and parses out the no follow and do follow. It also searches for blogs with one, two or up to five comments on it. That is apparently supposed give you better chances to get your comment approved. I already had that and liked it but I wanted to try comment demon for a long time now.

It seems to come up with a shit load more blogs but alot of them you can't really leave a comment on. At least in the niche I tried it out in today.

Why do some people say that your comment links do get any juice? They say a blog link needs to be in the post. That seems strange to me.

    Vic April 30, 2008 at 4:55 pm

Real Link Finder fur the broke person is ok compared to blogpost comment finders software it is a joke. If a blog has dofollow in the comments it has the almost the same weight as in the post.

Hi. I just purchased the reseller account at hostgator and I'm trying to set up the skeleton file for BANS.(I got the 100+ .info domains, as suggested by Vic).

Anyway, the reason for this post is because I'm having trouble uploading the files into the public_html/folder.

For some reason, everything went smoothly except for the contents of the theme folder.

It keeps saying "Can't create directory: No such file or directory" and "Can't change directory to public_html themes" and "Can't create directory disk:quota exceeded".

I've used my FTP program (Core FTP) several times already for BANS without any issues at all, so I'm guessing it's something about the way I'm doing it.

Also, for some reason I wasn't able to find the public_html folder in the cpanel3-skel folder, as instructed.

I don't know if that has anything to do with my problem I'm having…

Can anyone give me any suggestions?

    Thanks.

    Vic May 1, 2008 at 9:42 pm

I do not use the skeleton directory because of the diverse my sites are so on that I have no idea. I do not use the ftp software you mention so again on that I have no idea.

Now my question is how much space did you make on the pkg you created for your BANS?

    Reply

    Steven May 1, 2008 at 9:59 pm

    Hi Vic,

When I set it up,I followed along to your instructions in the video. So I would have set it to exactly what you suggested.

Since it was saying "Disk quota exceeded" I was actually considering the possibility that perhaps I might need to set it up with more space for a skeleton directory.

Although, since I'm brand new to this,I don't really understand what I'm doing anyway…lol

I went over to Justin's blog, where he gave his tutorial on the skeleton file, and he suggested to another poster there to use between 200mb-300mb for the quota, and 500mb for the bandwith.

I modified my account, but I'm still having the same problem, so maybe that's not the issue.

I would post at his blog about this issue but it seems that he's going be gone for a while.

    Reply

    Willdini May 2, 2008 at 2:54 am

Hey Steven, you really only need 20-30mb for storage because BANS only takes about 8mb, and for bandwith just start out with 1000mb. You get 250gb of bandwith with the basic package, so with that setup you could have 250 bans sites. Also, I would just use cPanel to upload your skel directory, since you only gotta do it once. Those ftp programs confuse the hell out of me too.

    Reply

    Vic May 2, 2008 at 3:15 am

Steven man I do not know what to say try filezilla or as Will said try cpanel BANS is just an easy install so there is no reason why you are having problems.

Got to BU a couple of days ago for the first time. Spent hours (and hours) reading and watching.

Bought BANS, currently trying to transfer my hostgator shared account to a reseller. Then it's domain Dashboard, then BMD. No BANS sites up yet.

As I'm totally new to this I'm still trying to work out a couple of things.

Am I correct that I add a package and then add each of my BANS sites into that same package? And do I do that by adding an account for each site whenever I add a new site to the BANS package?

Or do I add a package for every BANS site?

Hostgator will transfer my current sites from my shared hosting to my reseller account. Will these be in their own package?

I'm right at step one, think I'm way behind a lot of you, but at least I'm started now. Great blog Vic.

Just create one BANS pkg in WHM and everytime you create a new domain account you assign it the BANS pkg for a BANS site.

I see you recommend reseller package.

    One stupid question.
    reseller package: 24gb/250gb
    baby a/c: 600gb/6000gb.

I am confused. If our traffic is spiking and our sites are getting shut down with baby a/c, how can reseller with 1/25 bandwidth helps us.
