I noticed a comment on one of the post made today that talked about inlinks for pre-owned domains and even though I am sick as a dog I felt I needed to get this clear for you folks right now so it does not cost you money. This video tutorial is really short and to be honest I do not know how bad did it come out as I could not watch it all because of a really bad headache I promise if it is horrible I will make another one as soon as I get better.

Great video Vic, even if you were sick. After watching it I'm sick. I was looking for a preowned domain a couple days ago and looked at e-netfinancial.com. Unfortunately, I didn't know how to do what you just taught me in the video. Had I known then, what I know now,I'd have bought it.

In other words, thanks for showing me what to do so I don't miss a good deal next time I come across it.

    Hope you are feeling better.

    Hi Vic,

First of all thank you for your work, You seem to be great man. But I am interested in one question regarding freshdrop tool. There is also a columm, that says "fake". What does it mean? Should I buy domains also with Y as fake?

Thanks for answer. Best regards from Slovakia (Small country in the midlle Europe.

Michal the Fake is for the Page Rank if it is Fake or Real in this case since it was not even indexed I knew that it had no PR so it does not matter. Remember Michal age is more important then PR we can always get fast PR but age it is what it is ;)

I just fell ill last night, myself. I completely lost my voice and had to take a sick day from work. I'll tell you, phoning in with a botched voice is quite the mission, lol.

Gave me a chance to put up a few more BANS sites, though. BTW, did you get my email regarding BANS?

    Question(s) about freshdrop…

How reliable is the 'Fake Google Page Rank' thing? It's saying an awful lot are fake or suspicious.

And the estimated monthly traffic; is that reliable, or even important, as well?

    Thanks and get better soon

John I verify rank visually in other words I want to see the links so to me it does not matter how reliable since I do a visual anyway stuff like traffic does it really matter? Remember you want to bring quality traffic anyway. Buddy I do not know if I did receive the BANS email can you shoot me another just in case.

Yeah, I realized that traffic was pretty irrelevant after I made that comment. NEhoo I figured I'd just send the basics of the email here, i hope that's okay.

My question is primarily about the content on the page. They are typically the same on all of my BANS pages except for the boldened keywords and product examples at the bottom; is this something google will catch and punish me for? Here is and example…
    http://www.cheapdjsystems.info/

Also, regarding the boldened text. I had a closer look at the BANS output code and it doesn't use or for bold. Instead it uses a . Wouldn't that completely eliminate any SEO benefits for bolding text?

Crap. Sorry Vic. I didn't realize HTML was allowed in comments. That last paragraph was supposed to go something like….

Also, regarding the boldened text. I had a closer look at the BANS output code and it doesn’t use the 'strong' or 'bold' tags for bold. Instead it uses the 'span' and 'style' elements to give it a font-weight:bold . Wouldn’t that completely eliminate any SEO benefits for bolding text?

Age domains are great. I have no patience, so I love the instant traffic. I find SEO Elite is priceless for researching them, do you not use it for this?

I've picked up some really sweet domains, it's well worth the extra few bucks. My latest is http://www.palestine-yellowpages.com 9 years old, PR3, a bunch of baclinks. But now I have no clue what to do with it. Any ideas?

SEO Elite is the best tool out there to research competition with pre-owned sometimes we have to do it like in the tutorial because both Yahoo and Google de-indexed the links and we have to manually search for them ;)

    ?s on pre-owned domains.

How long can you figure on getting these domains re-indexed?
And how can you find out why they are not indexed?
EX: Are they in bad graces with Google? Not sure that makes sense. Don't quite know how to word it.

Niche Blogging April 26, 2008 at 3:42 pm

    Denise,

If you buy a preowned domain, you can do a site :www.domainname.com (insert your domain name) into a google search and if it shows up, it is indexed. If nothing shows up, it is not.

As for getting them indexed, if it has any age to it and is not indexed, there could be a chance that is was google banned.

Not to worry though, use the Google webmaster tools, put your domain in, verify it and then ask for reinclusion. I have done this on several domains I have bought, even if it does show up, just to let google know that it is under new "management".

As for getting your new content indexed, sometimes it can take a day or two, or up to two weeks. it just depends on what you are doing with the domain, keywords targeted, and if you get some good backlinks from high traffic sites.

This is where using BMD or just putting a couple of backlinks out there will help, especially with a preowned domain.

I have one domain I just bought a month ago that was a PR 3, financial sector, and I was getting trickle traffic on it from day one.

    Thanks Elliot,

I have heard of others that have bought pre-owned domains and Google had banned those domains for whatever reason and it was a bear to get them back to index.

Some were still waiting six months later for re-inclusion.

Niche Blogging April 26, 2008 at 8:20 pm

The couple that I have bought that had no page rank, no pages indexed, no backlinks registered and were older than 1 year were reincluded pretty quick.

I used iwebtool.com to check them, as they offer a "Google banned checker", but not sure how reliable it is. I think it also looks at if the domain is indexed and has backlinks pointing to it.

Vic, I thought the Freshdrop tutorial was "stupid" excellent! There was so much value in it, I'll have to play it over maybe 5, 6 or 7 times just to get it all. What you take for granted as being simple, is equivalent to post-graduate level information for guys like me.

Thanks for all you do, and I pray a speedy recovery for you. And your wife should be pissed…you do need to be in bed with a 101 degree fever.

Het Vic, I have been lurking for awhile, but this post answered a question I have had for awhile. Another question for you is how long does the preowned domain take to shoot up the serps? I am learning the hard way with some new domains since Nov and no luck. I am wondering if it is a couple weeks ?(I know it depends on other factors, but just a general idea)

Hope you are feeling better : don't need to apologize for the quality of the video though! You remind me of some of my older college lecturers back in the old days (25 years ago and they had been lecturing since the 50's then) – they just talked, it was a bitch to keep up, in the days before rewind buttons – but you actually felt you were learning shit. Now with the whole structured courses the lecturers have to describe how they are going to cover the syllabus before the start of term: it makes for really boring repeatable, average education. Thank you for being a real teacher!

Vic, Thanks for the great video on freshdrop! I didn't realize how easy it was to buy an expired domain.

Two questions though, one, do you know how long it takes to transfer the domain to my Godaddy account?

And two, in your experience, how often does the domain owner comeback and re-register after you purchase the domain thru TDNAM?

    Vic April 28, 2008 at 3:29 pm

GoDaddy does give you the disclosure up to now not one of my domains has the owner re-register it but be aware that it does happen. Transfer usually is a few days if you go in your auction account you will actually see the transfer date.

Hey man so get this. Recently my brother and I buy 6 domains on sitepoint – 3 pr3s and 3 0s, but they're aged and in the index.

Then this PR updage is happening and the 3s go to 1s. Oops! We're not concerned though because they're all indexed and aged and by next update we'll have them at PR 4/5 no problem.

Great tutorial man. Killing it as usual.

Mark when I buy a domin for PR reasons I do a backlink check and track the PR links then I also backtrack those links also to make sure they are solid and I can predict what will happen in the next PR toolbar update. But overall my main thing is to buy old old domains PR is easy but age it is what it is ;)

I've got my eyes on an aged domain for a new BANS. It's got 3 days left on the auction. It's indexed and leads to an actual site. I can't believe that it doesn't have a PR but is 4 years old…

I'll debate for the next 2 days if I'm gonna buy it or not :P
