Hey Vic.I have a question and I decided to write it here..How do you estimate the daily searches for a keyword?Right now I;m using Keyword Elite and I don;t know if the search results are ok or not.
And what’s that Google GTrends Tool that shows “Actual Visitors From #1 in Google/day”…What does it mean?

Thanks and keep up the good work!

    John

PS: I posted this again because I think you missed it.

Yeah Vic it’d be great if you could find some time out of your busy schedule for the keyword video - I think that might be a great help for us but I know you’ve gotta prioritise so I’ll be patient. ;)

What do you think about GoDaddy when it comes to buying domains? I’ve heard lots of bad things about them, but I’ve got quite a number of domains bought from them and they’ve been OK so far. But since I’m relatively new to this business, I surely could use your advice regarding registrars.

    1. Vic on 02.04.2008 at 23:18 (Reply)

I opnly buy domains from GoDaddy and GoDaddy auctions and if I have some one offer me a pre-owned that is not under GoDaddy I transfer. I have only had one problem and it was not their fault.

      ;)

PS: Plus they have the lowest buy rates period!!!

      1. Steve McGrath on 03.04.2008 at 00:21 (Reply)

Vic, do your mean you keep them(registrar) on GoDaddy but host them on hostgator?

        1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 04:15 (Reply)

Ohh hell yeah buddy GoDaddy Hosting sucks the way they setup their servers it is just horrible.

Vic - On BANS sites, does it make sense to build out some content pages once in a while to get fresh content or should you focus mainly on getting links? Appreciate the help!

    1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 04:17 (Reply)

Good question added for tomorrows comment video ;)

    For your txt files:

I’m using Bookdemon and my scuttle list is about 60 sites. I had more but many were bad url or blog post(200+ of them). On my first run I got about 30 that rejected my links. Is it normal because I used a multiple logins just in case but 1 gmail.

For the IP, is a different C-Class/IP give more weight than the same IP? I would think so.

Btw, when I saw you in the video being happy about the new eBay affiliate program, I did not think you were “gloating”. ;) I still need to wait but I’m patient. :(

    Vic,

You didn’t answer my question on whether you use analytics and webmaster tools and whether these would affect a site staying under the radar.

    Hey Vic,
A little heavy on Caroline…but ‘it is what it is’ right? Ha.. I wouldn’t have wasted so much energy on it. Most folks that tune in here already know a scammer from a real SEOe (seo-expert).

Here my question - and if you wanted to do a whole post on it I’d be tuning in -

    Organization. ?!?

Sure 1 or 10 domains can be managed easily enough but we need to put systems in place early in the game so that when we have 100 (or 200) it can be managed. Are you ‘King of Spreadsheets’ or do you have any other tools/tips for what I’m sure can become a bit of a logistical nightmare.

    1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 04:19 (Reply)

Good topic I will add for tomorrows video.

  7. Lance on 03.04.2008 at 01:10 (Reply)

Hi Vic, by any chance are you trying storestacker ? It is able to create individual pages for each ebay products and have many different rss feeds. It might be more powerful than BANS :)

    1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 04:19 (Reply)

I will put it in my list of things I need to do ;)

I know one question I’ve been needing answered. And I feel completely retarded for asking. But where do I find the code for the Blogging Zoom “Zoom” widget to add to my posts? I’ve looked over blogging zoom more than once, and haven’t found the code to place on my post.

    Thanks Vic!

    1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 04:21 (Reply)

Easy one buddy we are actually making a tools page where it will be easier for people to find the widgets ;)

    Vic,

    Repost of earlier question:

    Question on competing monetization…

Lets say I have a BANS site for antique cars and that BANS site has sub-cats for ford, chevy, etc.

Let say I also have niche blogs for antique-ford and antique-chevy.

Knowing how you feel about competing monetization…should I go with only Adsense on the niche blogs, or use them to drive traffic to the appropriate BANS sub-cat page, or…(fill in the blank here)?

    Thanks man!

    Thom

Hi, I’m the guy who asked about installing BANS on hostgator addon domains. Eventually last night I got very good support from hostgator, who fixed the issue.

Unfortunately, the CSR who helped me couldn’t explain exactly what they did to help … I guess he was forwarding my info to tech support, and they made the changes. It’s great to have that immediate problem solved, but I want to avoid it again in the future.

The best he could tell me was that I had “insufficient file permissions”, which I assume was related to CHMOD’ing the cont files?

But according to the BANS install manual I don’t need to (or perhaps they mean shouldn’t?) make changes to permissions if I’m using hostgator.

So, a little bit more detail than I had; thanks for offering to help with this.

    1. Vic on 03.04.2008 at 05:40 (Reply)

Andy my day has been horrible but I promise tomorrow to do some test to see if I can replicate the error. SO I can explain what to do. Also be aware that some issues came about and some updates have been issued.

      1. Andy Levy-Stevenson on 03.04.2008 at 06:27 (Reply)

Thanks Vic, I appreciate it. I’m going to finish installing the store that was giving me problems, and then run the update patch on that one.

Then I’ll download the new “full version” and use that from that point forward. Hopefully the “permissions” issue won’t recur, and I’ll continue building my mighty empire ;-)

If there are more problems, I’ll report back … with so many of us using the BANS/hostgator combination, shared experience may be helpful to other people too.

      2. Andy Levy-Stevenson on 03.04.2008 at 09:43 (Reply)

Damn. I just tried to run the update.php patch, and it gave me the same 500 Internal Server Error, so I clearly have issues of some sort.

    Hi Vic,

Question regarding multiple links on a page. I think I have already read it here or at Court’s blog but I just want to confirm: If there are 3 links on one page, 1 to the index page and 2 deep links, do all 3 links get counted by the search engines? I ask because I remember reading somewhere that only one link to one domain per page gets counted. I hope that made sense.

Also, I plan on starting up a wordpress MU link farm. Do you know of any program or script that would make it easier to make a post in multiple blogs.

Man, there are sooo many questions I want to ask you and I feel so bad for asking them all but I’m trying to make up for all those years of reading crap from digitalpoint and fake “guru” blogs. I just want to thank you for all your help thus far and I hope I don’t become a pain in the ass for you; if I do, let me know and I’ll cut the questions down. Thanks again.

    Hey Vic, got question.

Tonight I found two search phrases that return 1) blogs developed by certain blogging software, and 2) a guest book script.

Both allow linked name comments and a back link, which are do follow.

The guest books seem abandoned. The blogs are new. Some are 2-5 PR.

Anything wrong with exploiting these? I don’t give a fuck about the “ethics”, etc.. just the bottom line. Does google keep an eye on abandoned guest books? Any penalty.

The blog software I found… gave me like 20 do follow blogs. a few with PR3 and PR4… and the entire blogs had like 2 comments. So I think they’re prime to harvest links from. What do you think?

      Go farm away buddy ;)

    Vic,
I got bitch slapped by Askmit and so my comments are routinely getting tossed into the trash (even the legit ones). What do I need to do to get around this problem?
    Thanks,

In the form select I have a support or feature request tell them what is happening and use the email that is getting reported as spam it will take about 3 to 5 days and they will remove you from the list ;)

I have an SEO question for you. Cause I’m an SEO noob, and building a niche blog for an affiliate offer using keyword sniping.

(I don’t have bookmarketing demon yet, but I’ll be grabbing it this month for sure!)

But I just found out that stumbleupon is going dofollow with their new grid layout. In your experience is this going to be a good place to get links? Do you think google is going to weight these well, or because so many people have the links on the network will they not count?
