Lessons Learned by a Dumb Fuck

Folks I am going to get this started with a little story to tell you When I signed up for Hosting at one point with hostgator I used an email that was for the domain I signed up with. Lets stop here for a minute so I can say DUMB FUCK!.

Let me tell you why this is bad idea and you tell me if you were a stupid fucker that did the same thing. If you sign up for Hosting with the same email as domain you are using you are setting yourself up for problems from the get go. If you account ever gets suspended you are screwed. How in the Fuck do you communicate with the tech support people if they use the email on file to email you to let you know why you are getting suspended? Im sure there are plenty of you that will read this and tell me you have that set up the same way right now CHANGE IT if you do to an outside email address. Now I am not going to get into details about the suspension but I will tell you it was just time to upgrade to something bigger and no I was not suspended for spam. I don’t do that shit!

Let me jump to another example. Brian over at elitebydesign.com made a good point about Entrecard. Now while I will swear to you up and down that Entrecard sucks for adsense users Brian was not using it for adsense so in this case it did have a purpose for him. I still hold my stance about entrecard and adsense but I will tell you that the different point of view gave me a different perspective on Entrecard being plain crap or having any value.

Listen folks we all claim to know things sometimes but we dont always know everything because look at what I did. Now some of you are saying to yourself what the Fuck is Vic saying here? What I am telling you is that we learn not only from our mistakes but many times we learn from others Now for you fuckers that will try to tell me im getting soft and telling you I dont know it all FUCK YOU this post is for you peckers. People like Court and Grizz who met along the way have given me a lot to think about we teach each other things and bounce ideas off of each other as well. Folks this is why it is important to build your own social communities so to speak.

Most of you will remember when Court and me launched BloggingZoom around that time I met a cool kid name Justin that was already blogging and now is the blogger of hostgator. We have gotten to be real good friends. I want to ask you folks to go and vote for the hostgator blog if you get a chance on bloggers choice awards. Now folks I know I am moving around quickly and talking about all different people but what it comes down to is who is going to back your ass up when you need it? Who is going to vouch for you when you need it? Who is going to pick your ass up when you dont feel like writing when you need it? Who is going to tell you what you could have wrote and what you should write next time when you need it? Who is going to tell you straight up the way it is when you need it?(You fucking know I will) Who is going to give you ideas and trust you will keep it to yourself when you need it? Decipher these questions as you like and let them sink in because this shit is important.

Folks you get my drift it comes down to support whether you want to acknowledge it or not. Sure you can do things on your own and I have gone that route too but you have to remember that working together can may times accomplish a lot more. So who is in your fave five (t-mobile motto)? If you haven’t made any good contacts that you keep in touch with now would be a good time people. Get a core group of people that can help you and you can help them.

First, thank you for the mention.
Second, this post is soooo true. If people can’t find their fave-five, they are in deep trouble.

I think I have already found my five plus a few others that I am starting to get to know.
I have found that the more people I know, even if I don’t know them well, the better off I will be.

For example, I’ll use Adii. I simply comment on his site and most of his new posts. I don’t know him personally, I haven’t really gotten to know him that well, but I think that if anything ever came up, he’d be willing to help as he has in the past.

Another great post Vic, I know that you would back most of us up too if we really needed it…I hope :D

    Welcome Back Vic!

What you are saying is so true! When you fall flat on your face drunk in the bar, oh, wait…

Sorry, flashback to college! Anyways, friends should always be there to support you and pick you up when you are down.

I have learned a lot from you, Jedi Master, and look forward to making you a proud teacher of making money online for others.

All I can say is if anyone out there thinks they know it all, you don’t. And, Vic, Court and Grizz are a fresh breath of air in the world of “buy this and do this to make money”.

Thanks to all three of you, and everyone else that contributes!

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:31 (Reply)

LMAO Elliott having a fall back is so important to hear you and the rest who have offered themselves to help me in my current situation it just makes me want to get to 100% quicker and help all of you achieve your goals.

    Hey Vic,

I will be the first to admit I am a dumb fuck! I just checked the contact information on our new Hosting account, and sure enough, it is to an email address that is hosted there. DOH!

Anyhow, I changed it right away, and even put in a secondary contact email that is hosted through our ISP, so I have a couple of different avenues of communication.

Thanks for pointing out the fact that I was a dumb fuck!

Hope you are feeling better! (Don’t worry, Joli and I have your back! :) )

LMAO Marshall you have no idea how ballistic I went when this happened it was not until Justin actually explained to me the whole process did I come to realize that dumb fuck Vic made sure tech support could not get in touch with me.

Good to see you back Vic,

Was here about an hour ago and I just came from Grizzly’s to check if you have added another 500 words. LOL.

You are right about this working together thing. Sometimes I get so blurred that I don’t know who to turn to. At least now I have some places where I know I can get some solid advise.

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:35 (Reply)

LMAO Costa I felt ashamed when I read Grizz post and then looked at mine Grizz looks like a full chapter of an ebook LOL. Costa please ad me to your Skype because you are next in the Mentor program.

    Interesting thoughts!

Like the way you put everything down plain and simple - great name for the blog too, I’ll be stopping by regularly.

Nick welcome and at 39 I feel that I need to not waste to much time and get down to business I try to apply that to lessons.

    Hi Vic,

Hope you are feeling better. After our lats talk I was a little worried you know. I also believe that a strong support network is beneficial for all those involved. I have some true tried and trusted friends online of which I’m proud to be assimilated with. Mainly Griz and Terry who have helped me a lot since I built my website nearly a year ago and if it wasn’t for them two, the Internet would be a sadder place.

I just hope that one day I can return the favor to all of you (including you Vic) who help to inspire me on a daily level.

    Take care

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:38 (Reply)

Monika you are just a sweetheart and I so look forward to seeing you achieve your goals. You deserve that and more.

    2. Mike Pedersen on 12.01.2008 at 01:07 (Reply)

      Hey Monika!

Whatever happened to those domains you bought on tdnam.com? I ask because I won a bid for one, got a little excited and set up Hosting and wordpress only to find out I have to wait another week and the owner can STILL take it back even though it is expired and godaddy got my money :(

Kind of a crappy deal, but if I end up getting this domain in a week it will be worth it. Don’t know if I would do anymore purchases on tdnam.com knowing that now though.

      Mike

      1. Monika@The Writers Manifesto on 12.01.2008 at 12:44 (Reply)

        Hi Mike,

I’ve had 3 come through so far but still miss out one one that was buy now. I might have to take this further since twice emailing the owner hasn’t even resulted into a reply.

        1. Mike on 12.01.2008 at 16:17 (Reply)

So you have actually secured three sites that you are Hosting? I’m not sure I like how this site operates. For it being linked to godaddy you’d think it would be more legit and efficient.

  9. Sucker on 11.01.2008 at 14:04 (Reply)

Knowing the hostgator blogger probably would have been nice when your account was getting suspended, huh? :)

Another dumb thing is having your domain and Hosting at the same place. If you ever change hosts, they’ll make it a bitch to get your name.

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:40 (Reply)

Ohh yeah I really really wished I had made that connection before. But the important thing is that better late then never and Justin has just explained to me in detail so many things of how Hosting companies work that makes me feel bad now of how sometimes I would treat tech support. Many times Hosting companies place restrictions that are their to safeguard us and ignorance prevents us from understanding that.

      1. Sucker on 12.01.2008 at 15:38 (Reply)

Yeah that’s totally true, Hosting companies take a lot of crap, even for problems caused by the customers themselves.

  10. Lin on 11.01.2008 at 14:23 (Reply)

Whew! I’ve found another thing that doesn’t apply to me on your blog! :)

I love what you do man, and hope you’re feeling better soon. Getting sick sucks big time.

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:41 (Reply)

Lin I look forward to getting to 100% and thank you for your kind words, I am really glad this does not apply to you because girl, it bit me right on the ass big time. I have a 10k unique hit site down for 4 days till I figured out what happen.

Having been the recipient of one of these “pep” talks , I can speak from a position of authority, lol, seriously , I have written repeatedly on this topic, I would only caution you to choose your friends wisely, not all are as they would appear, that’s a lesson I learned

    1. Vic on 11.01.2008 at 15:45 (Reply)

Don I always think of “Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves (Matt. 7:15) this so much apply to all these so called A-listers. In return here is a guy who seems to have a foul mouth but does have the real heartfelt intention of helping you all. I always try to teach my kids that words are shit and actions are the proof. I love how people say I love you but the day you are in need they are nowhere to be seen.

  12. Terry Didcott on 11.01.2008 at 17:08 (Reply)

Hi Vic - I’m glad you’re up to full strength again and feeling better so I can count the “fucks” its a real pleasure!

Your’e gonna love this bit of dumbfuckery - I was using an email address for a site hosted at a different place to hostgator and all was fine, but then I transferred that domain over to hostgator last year and the email with it - so I count as a dumberthandumbfuck for getting it right then fucking it up hahahahaha!

    Terry

PS: I just changed it btw LOL!!

    1. Vic on 12.01.2008 at 19:13 (Reply)

LMAO Terry it is crazy how little small things we sometimes take for granted can come and take a huge bite out of our asses down the line.

  13. Emma on 11.01.2008 at 21:58 (Reply)

Vic, I’m so glad your back. I missed you. Once again, I learned something valuable from you, keeping Hosting, contact email, and domains separate is a really good idea. I also agree having your own little network can help a lot. Take care of yourself and get better. Emma

    1. Vic on 12.01.2008 at 19:14 (Reply)

Tnx Emma I look forward to getting 100% and keep sharing my rants with you all.

I will admit I am a huge dumbfuck, but at least I know now and I can try to not be as big of one anymore!

    1. Vic on 12.01.2008 at 19:19 (Reply)

Rookie we have all been there the important thing is to fix it and learn and help each other not to do the same mistakes.

  15. Markk on 12.01.2008 at 09:09 (Reply)

Gee, good to see ya back in your usual form. Thanks for that email revelation which makes me look like another dumb ass. You rock!

    1. Vic on 12.01.2008 at 19:26 (Reply)

Markk I know it was not a huge post but I felt that it was important to share that and keep someone from having the shit I had.

  18. bmunch on 12.01.2008 at 19:15 (Reply)

Although I am not a dumb fuck for putting my email and Hosting in the same place, I head over to my Hosting to double check.

    Nice call to action, Vic.

An update on 2 PR domains bought at TDNAM and used for niche blog. One USED to be a PR4 and another PR5.

Yes, you read right. USED TO BE…

Just 2 weeks and now both are PR0. Just proved Domain age is really really more important than PR. So buy well.

Anyone buying from TDNAM and have their PR bitch slap back to basics?

    1. Lizard Wisdom on 12.01.2008 at 19:24 (Reply)

      Hi bmunch,

We have yet to buy any pre-owned domains with PR, just new domains, so we can’t help you there.

However, we can say that Google must be doing a PR update now because Lizard Wisdom just went from PR0 to PR3 yesterday (blog is 4 months old today). Glad to see we have a PR3 and we have yet to do much to build backlinks on this particular domain. That starts today.

      -Marshall

    2. Vic on 12.01.2008 at 19:29 (Reply)

bmunch age is the most important thing I hat about 20% of the domains I bought go to PR0 most dropped one and had 4 go from PR3 to PR4

  19. [...] I realized that I’d make a mistake that Vic had talked about earlier - *NEVER* have the contact email for your account be the same as the domain in which it’s [...]
