Definition of Success

Folks let me start this post by saying I know we are behind in certain things. Especially the niche test case. But folks let just say the last week my health his just being terrible now yesterday it seem I had turned the corner. Folks last night my wife offered me an Ambien because the last few days I was really not sleeping well. OMG folks let’s just say before you take any medication you really need to consider the possible side effects versus a current condition you may have. One of the problems I was having the last days was with my balance and everything that entails, by taking Ambien I multiplied my balance problems by 10 let’s just say I have been trying to write and answer from my laptop in bed with serious problems trying to walk, so again I apologize for being so behind.

Now I was trying to read some of BZ submissions and I came upon a test case that one our friends Richard is doing the post is called How to Make Money Online now I read it and left a comment:

Vic on January 3rd, 2008 at 11:47 pm

Good luck buddy please keep us up to date who is going I wish I had more time but sometimes I can get to all you folks blogs.

To your success

Vic

Now folks Richard answered one of the most coolest things some one could answer.

RT Cunningham on January 3rd, 2008 at 11:59 pm

Thanks for stopping by, Vic. I didn’t expect you’d have the time to, so I wasn’t looking for it.

Success? If I can get out of bed, I’m successful. Anything else is gravy.

Now folks the whole point of this post is to be outright clear on what I am about and you do not get the wrong impression. Let’s first read what according to the dictionary success is.

success
(sÉ™k-sÄ•s’)

n.

1. The achievement of something desired, planned, or attempted: attributed their success in business to hard work.
2.
1. The gaining of fame or prosperity: an artist spoiled by success.
2. The extent of such gain.
3. One that is successful: The plan was a success.
4. Obsolete. A result or an outcome.

[Latin successus, from past participle of succēdere, to succeed. See succeed.]

Now folk before my breakdown I was all about work, money and results. I can not this day tell you how many actual graduations and birthdays I have missed in my children’s life. Now today at 39 I can safely say that the success in my life will not be measured by how much I left in the bank. Today if I have to chose between making 5k in a day and spending time with my 4 year old daughter their is no competition. And as Richard says Success? If I can get out of bed, I’m successful. Anything else is gravy.

Now when you set goals in your business and make an outline of what you will achieve it is a total different matter. You can not start a blog and make your goal that you will rank with such keyword and you will make such an amount of money and etc etc etc in the first year and down the line when the year comes around and you have not reached the goals you had set for yourself DO NOT SAY OH WELL BUT I DID ACHIEVE SUCH AND SUCH by doing this you are hurting yourself, just come outright and say I FAILED!!! Folks how can you fix something when it is not broken? Say I FAILED! now what do I have to do to fix this so I do not fail again. Folks failure is part of life unfortunately people only remember the success. I learn more from my failures then from my successes.

Folks there is no such thing as a free lunch and instant success. You can not start a brand new niche blog today and expect traffic tomorrow. Can you receive traffic the following day? Of course you can but this can not be your expectation, remember folks in a business there is a rule you should live by 110% Effort 20% Results and folks the most important thing you should understand is that Grizz, Court or me are not rocket scientist we do not hold the key to the meaning of life we are not the most brilliant minds in the world. The fact is that we are 3 guys who have been where you are at and have gone through everything you are right now and tons more you have not yet.

Folks today is January 3 2008 I ask you what have you done to achieve you goals? Now you have no excuses. You have three people that are not looking to ride you like a horse and drain you of every cent you have. Grizz, Court and me invite you to choose success over failure in your online business. But in life I ask you to remember Richard’s words Success? If I can get out of bed, I’m successful. Anything else is gravy.

    Inspiring Vic.
And I couldn’t agree more. If you don’t make your goals - you failed. But you should point out that the times you have failed are your greatest opportunities for inspiration to be successful.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 14:28 (Reply)

Brian so right we do need to get inspired and make the turn around.

  2. Gary R. Hess on 03.01.2008 at 23:27 (Reply)

Great post. I agree with Brian. Failure is a great inspiration. It helps us improve and learn from our mistakes… Something all of us can relate to.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 14:57 (Reply)

Gary since the day we are born we are destined to make mistakes but what we do with those mistakes is what will be the determining factor in our success in life.

Good points there Vic. A post about goals is probably a good way to start the New Year.

    Keep up the good work.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 14:58 (Reply)

Hafiz I always say yesterdays decisions determines what happens today, we need to start yesterday to line up our goals and eventual success.

I think I have said this as well , but with different words, Vic, I used you quote today about having a plan and working it, I almost told of my online “inspiration” conversation, and low and behold today will be a record traffic day, nothing like a little karma

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:00 (Reply)

Don I love your writing because sometimes people think of cliches when it comes to goals and inspiration but even though it might be a cliche it still is the truth.

@Vic - since you aren’t feeling well I will wait to Skype you and talk about those 3 domains I emailed you about until early next week when you are feeling better. I hope you feel better and don’t feel bad if you need to take a break for a day!

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:01 (Reply)

I am looking forward down the week to start communicating via Skype and helping you folks one to one.

I was wondering how come I was almost able to keep up with your posts. “The energizer blogger” Take your time.

Goals are something you aim towards. If you make a goal, guess what….time to figure out why, make a new one! You should always be going in a certain direction.

Whats it all about? Look down. See your feet? Lets make sure we all set goals and……

Make sure your next step is in the proper direction.

In my world there is no such thing as failure. You have a learning experience. What people call failure is a learning experience. If you don’t get what you want you are not doing what it takes. Learn from that and make changes.

You can save yourself from negative experiences by learning from others mistakes and excuses don’t change negative experiences learning from them and taking action does.

I like your point about missing the kids graduations. It’s an eye opener. I’m often amazed at what people will do to have more time in the future when they could have more time now if they let go of the need to be rich overnight.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:02 (Reply)

AlexK we just can not change our set goals. If we set a goal and not reach that goal we hurt ourselves by changing the outcome. Today I know it is more important to be with my kids then to make money and I always have that present.

  9. Elliott on 04.01.2008 at 01:09 (Reply)

There is no true “failure”. Only if you give up have you failed.

Failure gives you a chance to re-evaluate your goals and current position. Take a moment and look and see what you could have done differently to achieve your goals.

Create new goals and move on.

You only fail when you don’t learn something new from the past, and continue to repeat it expecting different results.

Take care of yourself Vic, hope you get feeling better!

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:04 (Reply)

Elliott you are very right but at the same time we can not allow ourselves to become our worst enemy. We failed and now let’s make that failure a success.

  10. DayJobNuker (Bruce) on 04.01.2008 at 01:13 (Reply)

    Vic,
I think you need to slow down with this blog and maybe other things. One post a day is PLENTY. If we miss a day or two and you are making multiple posts then it is too hard to read it all. One post a day or even less is just fine.

I am going to make a lot fewer posts on my blog as well. I have to because I don’t have the time.
    Good luck.
    Bruce

    Vic,

We are sorry to hear that you are still under the weather! We hope you get well soon!

We can’t agree with Bruce more! One post a day is plenty. Speaking for ourselves, we need time to absorb the information, and the pace that this blog is going, we are approaching information overload. And it can’t be good on your health to be so busy!

Anyhow, we are making steady progress and feel great about the path we are on.

    -Marshall and Joli

    P.S. Get well soon!!!

    Hi Vic

wow…you’re really angry most of the time. That can’t be good for your health but I’m really glad I found your blog and I like how you dare to expose the hypocrisy of JC and others.

I don’t think they are totally to blame for making money off their readers cos readers are basically clueless and if they’re so gullible and don’t bother to find out about things on their own then they have themselves to blame too.

JC did a post about Agloco joining the deadpool and some people signed up from that post. Proof that people are really stupid.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:08 (Reply)

I am angry because I carry others shame. Even though ignorance in law does not take the responsibility, it does not remove Chow and the others responsibility either of harming knowing.

Hey Grizz I am trying to stay away and rest. Sometimes recharging 39 year old battery is really tough.

  16. Kathryn on 04.01.2008 at 12:14 (Reply)

I’ve read two books in my life that have helped me get over my fear of failure and to DARE to try. “Tough Times Never Last but Tough People Do” is all about the plan! You’d definitely appreciate the way he lays out steps to success.
“Success Through a Positive Mental Attitude” is the things that all successful people have in common. It talks about seeing, believing, and achieving.

The amazing thing is that they are both OLD books (one from the 60’s and one from the 70’s I think) but the truths still ring clear!

If the mind can conceive and believe then the man can achieve - but you have to know what you want in order to get it.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:11 (Reply)

“Tough Times Never Last but Tough People Do” Kathryn so true. I try to read everyday. Knowledge is power.

  17. Monika@The Writers Manifesto on 04.01.2008 at 14:07 (Reply)

    Hi Vic,

Please get better soon. You are amazing to say the least and we wouldn’t want to miss out on your wisdom if you fall really sick.

What set you apart from the rest of us is the fact that you call people even when you are really sick. If that doesn’t show your professionalism and your commitment to help others, then what else does! :-)

I’ve started to walk since the beginning of the year again. Gaining far to much weight since sitting on my bum all day has made this a necessity. Plus I also want to keep healthy enough to feel great everyday.

Like you I believe in making a plan. But what is a plan when we stop following it 2 weeks down the road. Staying committed to the cause is often the hardest part of it all.

That’s why I so strongly believe in passion too. It helps us to step over the shitty piles in life and your passion is what keeps us all coming back for more.

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:16 (Reply)

Monika thank you so much for such kind words. I just can not wait to see you all make some money, you folks deserve it and you Monika you are just a true sweetheart.

      Bless You

Dare to fail and learn from it to reach new heights. I agree with the wisdom of RT’s words. Too true. Meanwhile, you’d better take care of your health. Don’t need to post everyday. The loyal readers will always be there for you.
    Take care.

    Vic,

Get well man. As you so aptly pointed out, you, Grizz, & Court have tons of experience to share with us. We don’t need 1/3 of it laid up in bed sick!

I can really relate to where you’re coming from. I turned 40 this year and a few years back I came to a realization. My kids were asleep when I left for work and asleep when I got home. I would have the rest of my life to work but only a few years with my kids. The decisions got a whole lot easier after that!

I also spent a few years in the army and we had proficiency tests with go/no go results. Either you passed or you failed, tread water or drown, you lived or you died. And now I have no problem saying I failed. There is just something a bit more motivating about that sharp stick of failure I guess.

Take the time to get better, then get back on the horse!

    -Thom

Ambien?? I hope you don’t suffer from a bout of “nocturnal eating”

people bake cakes in their sleep on Ambien, its crazy..

    1. Vic on 07.01.2008 at 15:20 (Reply)

Joe last time I ever take medication with out looking at the potential side effects. It has turned out that Ambien was not fully responsible as it turns out that this would not had happen if I would have been taking my blood pressure medicine but even so people really need to be so careful.

Very well said Vic, in fact I hold the opinion that if success has eluded you , take a step back and ask yourself,
    1. Had you been 100% committed to the cause?
    2. Were you ever afraid of anything?

Often our lack of commitment stems from the fact that we are afraid… and often since we are not committed we are afraid.

    1. Vic on 08.01.2008 at 18:20 (Reply)

Soham so right friend my other question is are we taking responsibility? The more we blame others or circumstances the harder it is to fix the problem.
