Are You Still in The Matrix
By Vic on Dec 29, 2007 in Bloggers
The Blogging World is controlled by a few people, the sad part is that the information they feed is fully self-serving and in return they have kept most bloggers in The Matrix. Since day one I have offered you the truth some times ugly but always the truth. I believe the blogging community could expand so much if only bloggers understood the power they have at there reach. This is what inspired me to visualize Blogging Zoom. I ask you, have you thought why probably the most powerful tool fully created for bloggers designed to bring organic traffic to your sites has never being mentioned by Darren Rowse, John Chow, Jeremy Shoemaker and the rest of the group?
The blogging community has not progress because the people that bloggers have listen for so long only have their interest in mind and not the blogging community. One of the sites that is supposed to keep bloggers informed about the blogging community is The Blog Herald, I ask you have you really stepped back and looked at the constant rehash of rehash bullshit that is on that site. Please do you folks know how many sites are out there that have incredible talented bloggers writing content that could easily be at CNN or MSNBC but yet the only thing the The Blog Herald publishes is the same crap that you see on every other shit blog and of course the full line up of PAID POST. Have you ever asked yourself who’s dick do you have to suck to have your blog featured at The Blog Herald?
Bloggers listen to me. Splashpress Media, b5Media (Darren Rowse) , John Chow, Jeremy Schoemaker and the rest are all about them selfs and how they can profit from you period!!!! This fuckers have no true sense of community except their community which does not include you.
I have always said don’t say you love me. Love Me! Do you rather have me tell you how good you are doing and what a nice person you are but the day you need me I do not answer your calls? When I read Darren Rowse grass post I swear I felt like fucking throwing up. What a sincere fucking asshole!
So I ask you again. Do you want to know how deep the rabbit-hole goes?
A few days ago one of my best Blogging buddies and he mentioned something to me that sounded great but with the lack of time I have just could not handle another project. Then today I was feeling just plain fucking horrible and I could not sleep. I started to think of what Justin had told me and a project Court and me had in the back burner because of how loaded we are right now. I had told Court that I wanted us to start a real Blogging Magazine not the shit The Blog Herald is. At the time we both agreed we wanted to do this but again Blogging Zoom is so time consuming that we could not handle something of this nature for quite some time. But tonight it hit me there might actually be a way to do this.
I believe that we could start a blogging magazine and have 15 bloggers that would form the magazine team. Now let me be clear this would not be a paid gig. I do have some ideas how to monetize where the bloggers would get a share but in reality the principle is more important. A true voice that calls it like it is that is not sold to IZEA, Text Link ADS or the rest that are sucking and driving the blogging community into the ground, a voice that actually reports and calls things like it is and has the best interest of the blogging community.
Now this Blogging Magazine would not be a how to use feed burner shit post. This would be a true editorial magazine where we would try to publish stories about the blogging world. At the same time providing new resources to the blogging community.
Folks please tell me what your thought are. Is it that I am the only one that feels this way. Is it that I am the one in the Matrix? If you feel like me and would like a change tell me. Tell me what you really think? Would this be a project you would support? Do you think this is a project the blogging community needs? Would you want to be one of the contributing bloggers?
Right now this is just another one of my crazy ideas in my head. But I would like to remind you folks that Blogging Zoom was also a crazy Idea in my head. And after talking to Court I registered the name on Oct 20 2007 and in 11 days we had a live site. I would like to also remind you that Blogger Unleashed was also a crazy idea I had on the 4th of this month. After thinking about it I went through my domain portfolio and chose BloggerUnleashed.com ( I almost used another domain I own called BloggingZombie.com LMAO) and in 4 days I made my first post. I really hate talking shit. If I decide to do something I do it!
So I ask you for the last time. Do you want to know how deep the rabbit-hole goes?

Are You Still in The Matrix | Blogger Unleashed…
One of the main reasons that Blogging Zoom was created because of the need the blogging community had for an outlet that only bloggers could use to showcase there talent. I still feel that bloggers are still in the Matrix, where you are being fed a loa…
Wow, Vic, you’re going somewhere. This Blogging Magazine idea should be the next best thing after the invention of blogging. It’s a great idea and about time, too. Yes, no rehash posts and all that silly stuff that they have been churning out. It has to be a true online mag about the world of blogging and more…and no more crap.
Damn Vic - what a post. You’re truly changing blogging, at least for me. As for your blogging magazine idea - fantastic. I think that there is a lot of room for failure, but with the right blend of writers and a little strategy from you and court and whoever else is involved, I think that you have the potential to make something really great.
Personally, I think it would be awesome to be a blogger on a project like that. I’m not really in it for the money so payment isn’t an issue. I’m sure you’re preparing for a zillion emails requesting to blog for your blogging magazine project, but I thought I would throw my hat in the ring.
By the way - I can’t believe how well that Matrix metaphor works. Damn.
Oh and yes! I do want to know how deep that rabbit hole goes!
Stumbled btw.
Maybe I’m a little cynical (comes with age I guess) but isn’t the idea of a blogger’s magazine already everywhere you look?
All the A-listers think THEY have the premier blogging resource and everybody who reads them believes their shit. Doesn’t The Herald (and many others) use a team guest bloggers to churn out the same old same old? Even my own JV social blog I co-author with Monika is being built on a similar premise and I make no excuses for it either. It is what it is.
Are you yanking our collective chain just a little here Vic?
I hate to say this but when you get a team of enthusiastic bloggers together to write a magazine, then maybe the first couple of weeks you get good stuff, then they run out of ideas and start reverting back to rehashing the old shit with different words.
Sure I want out of the matrix and to see what’s at the bottom of that rabbit hole (rabbit shit probably LMAO)!
But I believe if you’re looking for an informative, honest, truthful, no nonsense straight through the fucking heart online magazine of REAL blogging information you can use to make real money, you are already reading it.
Vic,
I wish I had your energy. I have mixed feelings about this magazine. I think blogging zoom and THIS BLOG is all we need. I would hate to see you burning the candles at both ends and lose focus on this blog which I read daily now:) Just my thoughts.
Thanks for all your info dude!
Yes! I have always lamented that all the A list bloggers are hiding some of their best secrets and noobs like me are being led by our nose into doing things that does no good.
If there is a magazine that reveals the whole truth, the whole conspiracy and the whole hypocricy that has been going on, it is going to be another watergate, err, I mean bloggergate and it is going to be big. Real big.
However, I do emphatize with Terry and Mike’s viewpoint. What will happen when all there is to be revealed has been revealed? What will happen to the magazine when all the dust settles?
At the present rate, you are playing the part of the reveller real well and what I have learned from you in these few short weeks is more than what I have learned from all the A listers combined for 2 years. Like Mike said, “I would hate to see you burning the candles at both ends.”
But if it is a go ahead, you have my full support. I sure will like to know how deep the rabbit hole goes.
I’m all for a magazine that has fresh content for the people. Its a great idea as long as you can maintain its integrity for the long term.
Any articles that mention john chow or the others should be banned as I’m sick and tired of hearing about them. They are not the be all and end all. I havent actually read anything from them that is useful to me as a blogger, its all about fattening their pockets.
Like the others, I would hate to see you burning the candles at both ends on this one.
For example, I sent an email last week but I have yet received a reply. You did tell me that you saw it but did not have time to read it in a comment. And it was about a financial proposal for BZ. So, I think you have too much on your plate and adding another project will not be a good thing at this point in time.
But what you could do is open your blog even more to guest bloggers. So, you will be able to take more time to write your own great posts. Just a thought.
You already teaching us many new things on this blog. Again, don’t take too much on your shoulders with this new project and use what you already got now.
You wanted our opinion and you got it. You could add a poll if you want more.
Do you want a Blogging Magazine(read comments first)?
Yes but not now(back burner)
Yes and now
No but use BU
I don’t care
“He’s the one.”
“Who’s the one?”
“Him, Vic, he’s the one. Morpheous told us, and I believe him.”
I agree with Terry, Vic, between BZ and BloggerUnleashed, don’t try to burn your candles up!
I would be interested in helping out either with BZ or the magazine if you are looking for some help to lighten the loads. A magazine that speaks the truth, hhmmmm…
Vic,
I already spend far too much time on Blogging Zoom and Blogger Unleashed - if you start another site I will get absolutely nothing done - so don’t do it.
I think this blog has everything we need and I would love to see it reach it’s potential - another site will just dilute your energies and I’d hate to see anything less than your usual 110%.
Don’t get me wrong - it’s a great idea but I don’t think it’s necessary. Maybe it’s possible that you don’t realize just how good (and refreshing) this site really is. There is nothing that a magazine could do that you can’t do right here - don’t spread yourself too thin. I think I speak for a lot of people when I say we want you around a long time and on your A-game, one nervous breakdown is enough for anyone.
Just my 2c - you’ll have my support either way.
Grizz said it best
(ANW, WHEN IS YOUR NEXT UPDATE. =.=)
Anyway, like some have said, and I do agree to a certain extent, that having such a mag would take up a lot of your resources. You’re a talented individual no doubt, you got a great mind and it would be a waste to see it break down
So anyway, I was thinking, if running a mag would be resource consuming, maybe you’d wanna release reports maybe on a bi-monthly or whatsoever basis, that actually exposes the A list bloggers tactics that are eating up a huge chunk of the blogging world.
People would definitely love to contribute to such a report. All’s needed would then be just to post it up here or whatsoever for dl-ing. Just some thought
DONE! Fuck the MAGAZINE shit!
Folks I will always do my best. Sometimes I just wish, I could translate better what is in my head to words written. I have even considered doing podcast to make sure my point comes across better. I though that with a project like that I could serve better by trying to have bloggers that could really write and convey the message in a better way. If something is not needed then it is not needed.
So folks you have spoken and as such, I will show you here at Blogger Unleashed how deep the rabbit-hole goes.
Hey Vic - your style of writing conveys your messages just fine - fluffy prose could never get the point across as well as you do. I wouldn’t want you any other way.
Hi Vic,
Sorry for the late answer, but I also second everybody else’s opinion. I think both Terry and Griz have hit the nail on the head.
And what Costa said is just like I feel in regards to learning more from you in this short time span than from all the other nob heads out there who are idolized for what?
What we need is right here right now and like the others mentioned, you don’t want to burn yourself out. If you need help, then I’m more than willing to step in, but I’m merely a beginner looking at all your insider secrets.
You are doing great Vic and are the guy who opened up our eyes to all the crap in that bloody rabbit hole, so YES, let me have a closer look.
Yehaa….
I can’t believe what I’m seeing. Nothing but negative thoughts. The Blogging Magazine Idea is nothing short of fantastic.
Vic - the magazine would by guided by you, or your designated editor. The manager, or editor would do all the work. You keep doing what your doing. You would be a contributor, just like everyone else.
Go to alexa, compare the stats for wordpress.org and sitepoint.com. While your their add bloggingzoom.com to the comparison. WOW! My thinking is if people use worpress.org at about the same rate as sitepoint, that tells me a blogging magazine has more potential then sitpoint.
blogging magazine has so much potential!!!!
forums, blogs, articles, books, videos, buy and sell sites
css, php, design, themes, marketing, indexing, plug-ins,
Quit with the negative thoughts!!!!!!
By the way - thanks for your help VIC! Keep up the good work.
I understand the concern put forth by Terry that the blogging mag may end up the way Blogging Herald has become. And Mike’s concern about burning both ends of the candle. But if the e-mag is edited professionally by someone with editorial experience who is also a well-heeled blogger the possibility is there for the mag to take off. Definitely you need to gather a team of contributors to supplement the content. Ideally, articles will be about the blogosphere and the http://WWW. Have wider scope for the mag. To make the content of the mag unique with a different kind of flavor from the run of the mill stuff that’s all over the place, articles will have to be “out of the box” stuff, thought-provoking, honest personal blogging experience posts, some humorous stuff for a change of pace, and some kickass writeups to keep them awake.
All well and fine, but editing and acceptance of articles from contributors will have to be very selective and professional to make sure no crap slips through. To be honest, it’s not going to be a breeze, there’ll be some hiccups here and there. Of course, there’ll be other kinks to be ironed out as you come across them. It’s not impossible to start one. But it really takes some hard work and chutzpah to make it a reality. Whoa, that’s my two cents!
Your sincerity to help bloggers and alleviate the blogging community is felt by your readers including me. I would definitely support this project should this push through. Newbie bloggers really need people like you and Court who really gives it as it is. Thanks and good luck.
Yes, Yes, Yes! Oh, did I forget to say YES!
Please do this. There is so much crap out there floating around that we all get sucked into believing it, mainly because we see it “written” so many places. Surely all those bloggers couldn’t be wrong could they?
Certainly it should have some HowTo kind of stuff, but maybe only 10-15%. It would be great if the rest focused on the industry itself, trends, blogger profiles, the effect of the blogosphere on the real world, traditional media mentions of bloggers, etc. You know, real news.
I’d also say that there should be less focus of quantity of posts and more focus on quality. It doesn’t hurt my feelings at all when even one of my fav blogs (like BU of course!) skips a day or two. Life happens. Quality will be the key to creditability.
At least that’s my two cents worth!
-Thom
PS - YES, please do this (just wanted to be clear!)
IMHO your platform for spreading the truth is right here, but I know its hard to turn your brain off, mine is the same way, yesterday I was one click away from a new blog that I know would be successful, then I thought crap I have a website and a blog that I have a hard time keeping up with , The website has been sitting for 2 months and I cant get to it, the first thing I do every time I come to your site is look at you RSS number, and frankly get envious, you have what you need right my friend, and I know we have talked privately about you and your health, Stay the course Vic , Stay the course
Vic,
What I would really like to see is you, Griz and Court bring all of into the actual creation of a niche blog. I mean a real hands on view of how to create a profitable niche blog.
It would be awesome to allow us to participate in the keyword research, the building of the blog, the SEOing, the traffic generation strategy and the monetization. Unfortunately some people need to be led by the hand. I have never seen any blogger do this for his audience. You could be the first. I would love for you, Court and Griz to each blog about this case study. Dissecting every aspect of this creation.
Well, I am going to take the blue pill now and wake up out of this dream.
-Fred
Fred,
That is an awesome, unbelievable idea!!! Even though I’m not a newbie on the net, I’d like to learn this new approach to keyword sniping and really targeted niche blogging.
What do you say Vic and Court? Come on guys.
Mike
Fred this is something I had already posted about you will not only see how I do it but you will see it with three blogs the two that will be given away in the contest and one that is a blacklisted domain. I will be starting work on all three blogs the 2nd of Jan
Well Vic, unless you can find another 10 bloggers who can do it like you, Court and Grizz, I’m not sure starting a blogging magazine right now would kill the 3 of you with whatever you already have on your plates. Meanwhile, you’re already handing out many of them red pills here so this IS the blogging magazine already in many ways lol
but if you ever start another one, I could help supply video posts about how blogging is like watching the clouds drift by…
On the other hand, if this new magazine is a good idea, then it’s a good idea no matter who works on it.
Man I freaking love your analogies. The Matrix is exactly what’s going on here.
I swear my blog would be more popular if I started posting affiliate BS that made me a lot of money that I could blind people with.
These guys should be ashamed of themselves!
I just had a funny thought. Wouldn’t it be cool if all of John Chow’s subscribers dumped him and came over here? How cool would that be
Vic,
I know you already said that you are canning the blogger magazine idea, but, it really is a good idea. There really isn’t a good place to get real blogging news, etc.
IMHO, if you built the team for the magazine project before you actually put the project in motion you may be able to delegate a lot of the work and maintain a balance.
I really think it is a good idea. I have always been disappointed with the Blog Herald. With the growth of the number of blogs and the lack of a sound community news source the market is truly ripe with potential.
I think you can find a good group to push the project forward. It just may take some time.
Still looking forward to seeing how deep the rabbit hole goes.
Beau Hooks
Folks lets do this. We will keep this open and I promise we will explore this again down the line.
Your right, Vic. The pendulum of opinion is swinging left and right too fast. Just have a beer and cool it. Don’t have to rush it. It will all come back when the time is right and ripe.
Vic,
Between you and Grizzly I am full up on info, plus some of Court’s. Any more and I’m into overload!
Plus, I wanna know who’s dick you gotta suck, and I’m sure this new mag wouldn’t word it quite the same
Wow, This is the first visit to this blog and I’m already on board the Nebucadnezzar. This post blew me away and I can’t wait to read the rest of this blog.
The magazine, if written in this style is a brilliant idea and I would love to be part of it.
I’m late because of the holidays.
Anyway, someone sweet-talked me with the idea of a blogging “magazine”. That person got two great fucking articles out of me, but I still haven’t heard shit about going “live” with it. I’m pissed about it. This has zero to do with your idea, of course, but I was suckered into giving some good work to someone for a “magazine” and here I sit with squat to show for my efforts. Gah!
Anyway, I say go for it. If you’ve got extra writers what could it hurt? You’ve got an eye for talent and you know how to utilize it, there’s nothing to lose. Especially if you don’t offer up front payment. You’ve got content, a great idea, and a means to see it all come together. What’s the problem? Go for it and see what happens.
And if that other guy is reading, I don’t appreciate that shit, man. Very uncool.
Lizzie I hope you have had a wonderful holidays. It is just crazy with the load you should know as you and me got some unfinished business. I hate the fact that I feel like I have all this things I want to get done and only be one it would be so cool if we could split into two LMAO.
I know from personal experience of having too many projects going at once. I work full time, and am trying to keep Masked Dispatcher growing. Desty Online has kinda fell to the side with an update here and there, but they’re all mainly about Masked Dispatcher.
The idea of a blogging magazine would be a good one, but honestly look and see if you really have time for it?
LMAO Desty as it is I usually sleep four hours a day. The last 4 days being sick is the most I have slept in 7 months.
Sounds like the same amount of sleep I get. But if I had my way, I’d like to get atleast 7 per day. Problem with me is that I would work on my sites all night long if I could. I could easily get 6 hours, but then nothing would ever get done.
Yes i want to know how far the rabbit hole goes!!!! ANybody for some fucking rabbit stew!!!
LMAO Welcome Jose let’s see how deep it goes.
