One Sided Story

As you folks know the last week has just turned into a nightmare after the server for Blogging Zoom and BU was trashed. We have worked over 20 hours a day trying not only to restore the services but also I have had to restore over 40 personal sites that where on the same server.
As you folks know for the longest time I believed that bloggers where self centered bitches. Today I can say that the problem is a few apples that as always hurt the rest.
The last few days not only has BZ got attacked but I have taken the large amount of it because of the actions taken to assure the best possible outcome for the majority of the community. Today I was emailed a thread that was started at Blog Catalog again attacking BZ and me.
The thread is called Trying To Get My URL Banned On Blogging Zoom as you can see again for reasons I just do not understand the ones that are whining are the ones that make 3 or 4 submissions and then never supported any other blogger of the community. Please go to the thread and let other bloggers know that they do not represent the whole story.

No way I would log on to that mess! Log on? …to comment? How can she possibly be upset with a free site? Either you take advantage and follow the rules or take a hike. I can’t imagine complaining about something that can help ya. Save your time, just decide if its good or not, move on!

Everyone who has BlogCatalog needs to go read through these comments because the people writing them seem like a little click and we need to get some support for Vic in there. If BZ has brought you even 1 extra visitor you owe it to Vic and yourself to defend the site.

The thing that really gets me is that the intention behind everything we do is to help I do not know maybe I should become another hypocrite A-lister and have all my writing copy proofed and just dedicate myself to sell stuff that hurts bloggers and write stuff that helps know one but myself.

I left a comment, tried to give a balanced view. People just get so worked up about stuff that really doesn’t matter. They probably don’t even get that angry when they see images of children with limbs blown off.

April bless you. I even wrote in that thread about that. Why not spend time getting links and promoting your blog instead of wasting time on this the same time the Blogger took to writ all that stuff was maybe one tenth of what it would take him to make a 350 character blurp.

Wow. I’ve signed up for an account over there so I can leave my two cents worth. Apparently my blog has to be “approved” before I have freedom of speech.
Anyway, here’s the bottom line…as I see it. The guys (and gals) that posted over there on that thread seem like nice enough folks and that they are really interested in blogging for blogging’s sake…not for making a living. That’s fine, to each his own. Want proof? How about all the time, effort, and keystrokes that went into bashing you for bad grammar and abrupt communication? I know why you don’t spend time fixing the grammar…and they would too if they read BU…so obviously they don’t. And as for the “communication style”, as far as I’m concerned it just keeps the wimps out of our hair.
I agree, most of that is just whiny dribble, and (perhaps ironically) almost all the posts are over 350 characters! Point in case, crkian says, “…I moaned about the 350 characters , I have problems writing that many for my blog…” and goes on to explain what a problem it is for him, and uses 507 to do it!
If they don’t want to use BZ, then fine, we’re better off without them. Let ‘em go. Don’t spend any more mental energy in a battle of wits with unarmed people!
While I like having friends and enjoy it when we all lock elbows and sing Kum ba ya around the campfire, I’m not really here for that. I’m here to increase my earning potential online with blogging.

I wrote a comment about how and why I use Bloggingzoom. I think their biggest problem is that they’re thinking that it’s a Digg type site, when it’s actually not. Sure it might look the same, but the best part about BZ is that you get that extra TARGETED submission to the search engines. If they actually took the time to understand it instead of railing about having to write a 350 WORD, er, I mean, character submission they would have a better time of it.

I read the long and windy post about all of the stuff going down. I was thinking of posting there as my site was accepted by BC, but I didn’t want to get into that mess over there. Sometimes you can’t win with people.
So, here is my take on it. If BC wants to remove my site, that’s fine. If you don’t like what I have to say, that’s great also. You are entitled to your opinion, just like I am.
Vic, don’t change the rules! Just because a few people can’t follow them, don’t mess it up for the rest of us. Here’s my why:
I have two sites right now in the sandbox. I continue to write articles on them and build backlinks through article submissions sites.
BloggingZoom is perfect for this scenario. Even though BZ is also in the sandbox, when I type in my keywords for these two sites, my site doesn’t show up, anywhere. Guess what does?
BloggingZoom.
Yep, the keyword rich submissions I make to BZ show up “for” my site, even though my site is nowhere to be found in the SERPS.
BZ is perfect for this. Sure, it takes an extra minute to make a good submission here. But, if you aren’t happy with having to do that extra work to increase your SERP position, or promote your site, then maybe Digg is the place for you. I know they allow cut and paste operations.

To the members of BZ that are following the rules: Thanks for your support of each other, and for following the rules.
To the members of BZ that AREN’T following the 350 character, avoid duplicate content penalty, submission rule, quite your bitching and whining. Each social site has it’s own rules. If you don’t follow them, you will get booted. Plain and Simple.

I would comment on it in your defense but I don’t want to wait for my blog to get approved, and they don’t deserve anymore attention to that post anyway.
You make more money online then any of them will ever make added together. Actually all of us probably do, or will, thanks to all the free information you have given us.

Vic, I wouldn’t get upset about a select few who want to get all worked into a tizzy about the email message sent out. I got one, and I needed to get one. I’m one of the “guilty” ones who have copied and pasted a sentence here and sentence there from my posts, not realizing it might cause google penalties for duplicate content. I needed to “get spanked” with that email, and I understand the intent within the message. Who friggin’ cares about some grammar errors, you rock man!

The way I looked at it is WOW BZ must be making a lot of waves! And any press is better than no press at all.
And as far as BZ, I get more front page listings for my blog posts through BZ than I do with anything else. I think its great!
I am not sure about the duplicate content issue but each to their own opinion. But I think it is great to be able to write a short 350 character blurb stuffed with keywords about your post. This is a perfect solution for getting listed on Google.
Anyway, I am not sure how many people are viewing the post at BC but don’t you think it will drive some new people to BZ and that is a bonus.
My grammar sucks also but that is why I am trying to make money with niche blogs cause I would suck as a freelancer.

Don’t get too upset about some “I speak perfect english” individuals. Communication is about getting your point across as efficient as possible. We are not built in with Word’s Grammer check or else we will have a wriggly green line underneath everytime we say something :).

Hey Vic I read the thing and honestly, while I know BZ is one of your pride and joys and you’re doing all you can to help, in this case it might have been in your best interest to ignore that troll and used your time on more productive stuff. I know what BZ is good for and I use it for that matter and if there are people who do not wish to do so and complain about it not working for them when they do not wish to spend just that little bit of extra effort to do so, then they can continue whining till they’re 50 and wonder why they achieved nothing with their lives half gone.
I did laugh when I saw another ‘professional writer’ in the thread who thought that just because she’s a ‘professional writer’, the whole world has to regard her as an authority on whether whatever someone says is clear enough to be understood by all.
@YC - although I get why you think Vic should have ignored these idiots I think it would be very hard if I was in his shoes. Like you said, it is one of his pride and jos- if I am really passionate about something and someone talks shit about it I freak the hell out.

I very much enjoy your writing here and what you’re doing with BZ, but when you let go and start bashing people (even if they are wrong) not only do your naysayers have a point, but you prove it for them. You play their game, and lose. Ignore them, keep doing the work and putting out the info, and let what they think go by the wayside. It’s no benefit for you to waste your time on something that the best you can hope for is only neutral, and the most probable result is negative. Just ignore them and it costs you nothing.

I still say that anyone who speaks in a language that isn’t their native is one up on anyone that speaks only one language perfectly. And there you showed that you not even speak one foreign (to you) language, but three (Eng. Fr. It.)- and you write in them too!
I consider myself a master of the English language, but who cares? You can write coherently in three languages not your own. That’s pretty fucking impressive, if you ask me.
