Comment Reactions

When I find some comments that deserve a deeper discussion I will start making this type of Vlog post. In this post I answer 3 specific comments. I answer InfoDoorway, Monika, and Steve.

I also go over again the recurring topic of the need of having a high bounce rate from organic traffic to actually make money online.

The Three comments are Below:

InfoDoorway
I try to make it a habit to utilize 4 different streams for each blog/website I have. It’s not only good to ensure future revenue but the variety keeps your pages fresh rather than readers seeing the same stuff day after day.

Happy belated birthday Vic!

I like the way you are “forcing” people to really think about multiple income streams. It’s like any investment: don’t put your eggs in the same basket. :D

And the old saying is still true: It takes money to make money. Real or virtual.

I’m working on my latest project that I consider a vertical business to 1 Cool File. That’s not counting my other niche sites. The funny thing is that I thought of the project while writing my first small ebook. And yes, it has a small traffic section but I recommend them to read your blog(Court’s too).

Question: You don’t like Entrecard, yet it’s on BZ. Is it an experiment?

Monika Mundell
Great video Vic. I’m glad you mentioned what you did about local niches. I just had a look at what mine would pay for real estate or lawyers or even hotels and all the clicks are very dismal. Not worth to go into it.

Never mind. I look forward to the Open Ads video as it will help me to understand this better, plus it’s given me some great ideas on new niches again. ;-)

I think someone else mentioned it too, but, yes, writing “too good” for the niche blogs is a problem for me as well. One way I’ve been dealing with this is to only allow myself 5 minutes to write a new post or rewrite a PLR.

Along that line, I’ve been wondering about how far you can dumb down content without upsetting Googlebot and Adsensebot? I’ve heard using Markov chain posts and other black/gray hat autogen methods that used to work are today a sure way to deindexing and a possible Adsense ban.

    1. Vic on 17.03.2008 at 15:36 (Reply)

Frank I will make a video post and explain a Markov and how far can we go.

Geez, calm down with the 20 videos a day LOL. I can tell your really getting into this. Let me know once things calm down a little so we can talk about a few things.

You should have come out with all of these videos during the writer strike. You are now seriously cutting into my TV time. :)

    1. Vic on 17.03.2008 at 15:37 (Reply)

      LMAO I know.

    Thanks Vic,

Great info on GEO targeting and why we shouldn’t worry about the cost per click. While I understand this, if there are no searches indicated through Wordtracker and Keyword Elite, there really isn’t a point in targeting a certain keyword for Adsense is there?

BTW, you are looking more sophisticated every time you shoot a new video. ;-)

    1. Vic on 17.03.2008 at 15:38 (Reply)

Monika really good point and it is a bit to explain so to video LMAO

Thanks for the info and it’s what I thought. I only noticed Entrecard a few days ago. Btw, you can now make money with Entrecard. Could it be good for you because of the page impressions you got? That could be on your Vlog post about it.

    Another thing about this vlog.
If someone has 5000 readers, they still has a chance of getting backlinks from readers. Of course, I only got 44 readers but a lot more from Google. :D

    1. Vic on 17.03.2008 at 15:40 (Reply)

Steve I will go deep on a Vlog just about Entrecard as for the links from readers they are worthless if you are not getting traffic that clicks.

Vic each video is followed by another video thats better. I am glad you’re changing your shirt each time too. but these things have to be time consuming for you to produce don’t they?

    1. Vic on 17.03.2008 at 15:42 (Reply)

What I am doing is I make 2 or 3 at a time and then I actually edit and produce them in the beginning it was slow but I am getting better with the actual editing.

I am using Adobe Visual Communicator 3 it is not the cheapest it cost me $399 but for non producing fucks like me it is really user friendly.

Damn, I have a couple days off and now I spend half a day watching videos LMAO!!! Great info Vic.

Its a real bummer not having adsense with all this great information how to use it. G got my name in their bad-boy book alright, kicked out and no way back without going through lots of hoops.

Still, it is what it is, the money will come from other streams, like long term - building up websites and selling them down the line.

    Keep it coming!

Try Yahoo publisher ads. I am having some luck with it and I think it is a good alternative to Adsense. You can see the ads on my blog and I will be doing a quick update post in the next day or two about it.

      1. Terry Didcott on 18.03.2008 at 14:55 (Reply)

I’d love to use Yahoo Ads, but they’re US only until they come out of beta and even then there’s no guarantee they’ll include the rest of us!

So its crappy old Bidvertiser for me until FAN starts to show some progress…

  10. Emma on 17.03.2008 at 18:37 (Reply)

Vic, these videos couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m not only learning a lot but your very motivating. The videos keep getting better and better too. Hopefully I’ll have some good results to report soon. Keep it up, Emma

    1. Vic on 18.03.2008 at 00:19 (Reply)

Emma I sure hope so and can not wait for that update. Just keep the work moving forward ;)

    Vic,

Great Videos - feels like I’m stopping by everyday and learning something new so thanks for that.

Just have a quick question - I’ve watched and read a few posts on other blogs for the need to sort out adsense block on niche sites. Looking at matching url colours with colours of the actual sites url’s. Sorted with that one, but can you tell me what format you choose to put your ads in on one of your adsense niche blogs, is it a 250×300 ad 3 times in a post or something else? Or, do you choose to put other types of ads in different positions throughout the theme? Be interesting to see what your opinions are for increasing click-through rates

    1. Vic on 18.03.2008 at 00:21 (Reply)

I integrate the ads as much as possible so it looks like part of the site this is what has given me the best results. Sometimes I highlight the Link ads a bit more to bring the eye toward them. But I will make a video post to explain better.

      1. Nick Sanders on 18.03.2008 at 02:09 (Reply)

        Vic,

Cheers, will look forward to the video on it. Was thinking along the same way, but be good to see a few examples of themes (if you could link to them in the post) - would be a great help.

        thanks

On my only “social” blog I have changed the template (to ProSense) to make Adsense more noticeable plus I’ve deactivated the feedburner plugin so that my 117 subscribers won’t get notified of any updates.

When I did this I felt like Simon Yates cutting the rope on Joe Simpson but so far I’ve found that my profits have increased considerably. I’m sure that I can get them up even more by playing around with some other themes and colours.
