Adsense Themes & Colors

by Vic on March 20, 2008

In relation to a past post I was doing some research on my own sites to answer some comments and sure enough it hit me that I was not applying the same basics that I preach. Of course I am currently reworking my Adsense niches and making them look the way that best Adsense has worked for me.

Adsense is really tricky and one of those tricks is the color of the theme you will be using with Adsense also the color of the links.

Most people that make no money with Adsense usually fall in three categories. The first and most are they are using it on the wrong site. The second has to do with no traffic and the last is the CTR.

CTR should increase drastically with this changes I suggest. If you want just try it with a few of your niches and in a month time look at your stats and you should have a non debatable result and you will surely change all your sites to this color combination.

I will definitely give the black background a go. Since Adsense seems to be my only income these days, it would be nice to make more than $1 a day.

    vic,

Cheers for that, was thinking along the same lines so good job I'm doing similar.

Just one quick last question, because google only allows 3 ads per any one page, do you just have your recent post on the homepage, or do you have excerpts from a few posts?

Good post Vic. I have recently made available the theme that is getting me 30-50% CTR on some of my sites. I have modified it and made it available for download to folks that want it at Blendworx.

I'm using black and neon green on a few sites but CTR has been highly variable (0% one day, 40% the next) on them so far, probably due low traffic.

Small or large print or poorly formatted, run-together paragraphs that's not too obvious seems to work as well. It's sort of the "amateur hour" look rather than the slick marketer look I like to go for.

I've also been trying out Griz's 2000+ words in a post formula too but those sites aren't monetized yet.

It may be a fluke but I did a little switching around on a site of mine yesterday based on these suggestions and today it went from make its usual $1 a day to over $40. It may have been a fluke because of a high paying ad showing up but the CTR is up too. Thanks Vic. I just hope this level sticks around.

    Vic,

As always, great tips! I've been trying the "blend with the site color scheme" approach for a while now…seems to help. I'll take a look at the black and neon idea…that sounds interesting!
